Dr. Sichting expected Beej to get worse overnight and "he really didn't." His blood gas numbers are not great. Some have improved slightly, and some have declined. His surgery sights are expectedly seeping, and will need changed often. He is running a temperature of near 101. Cultures have been sent to see if yesterdays procedures "stirred" something up, infection wise.

She said that "BJ will declare himself in the next 24 to 48 hours whether or not he is going to make it." They have done about all they can do for him.

He has fought battles at every turn. We have longed for him to make real strides in improvement. Now is the time it must happen.

Lord, I am trusting that you did not deliver him this far to now take him home, but you know that whatever You will, we understand, and in this case, are trying to desire.

I have already said a silent prayer for this young man before I even knew who he was. I recently began employment at St. V's on 86th and as I toured the PICU was told a 15 year old boy was currently on ECMO and what that entailed. My heart ached for him and his family and I will continue praying for him as his struggle continues

The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

I praise God for getting BJ through the night. BJ has truly touched my life. I just wanted to share the lyrics to at least one of the songs from Sandi Patty's cd "Take Hold of Christ".
You Have Been So Good
By Sandi Patty

When I think of where I've been
You take me back time and again
I'm forgiven

All the heartache that I keept
Still You hold me when I weep
THe grace that I receive
Because You love me

Chorus
You have been so good
You are ever faithful to me
Such blessings in my life
I ask myself if I
Ever thank You like I could?
In my darkest hour
Love's amazing power rescues me
O, my Lord, let me say it like I should
You are ever faithful
You have been so good

In the worst I have to bear
In a world that's so unfair
I come to You in prayer
You're always there

So, I will glory in the cross
If one more blessing never came to me
Your sacrifice would still be enough
It is enough
------------------
Father in heaven, we praise You and give thanks to You for all that You have done and continue to do in the life of BJ and his family. Father give them all strength. Fill them with Your love and peace. The doctors have done all that they could. They don't know what is going to happen now. They're saying the next 24 to 48 hours are going to be crucial. Lord we ask for You put Your healing hand on BJ. In Hebrews 4:16 it says "So whenever we are in need, We should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help." So we are asking for this help today. May Your will be done. In Jesus Holy and Divine Name, let all His people say, Amen!

This semester the seminary passed out a reader that includes daily scriptures, readings, and prayers. As I read today's entries, I thought of you.

Psalm 29:1-2, 10-11 (NIV)
Ascribe to the LORD, O mighty ones,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
The LORD gives strength to his people;
the LORD blesses his people with peace.

The prayers of intercession for today included the following:

"Lord, we pray for the storms in the hearts and lives of our friends and family. Let them know the peace of your presence. Let them know the awesomeness of your power. Let them cry, 'Glory!'"

I am praying that all of you will indeed know the peace of God's presence today and that together we will see how God wants to demonstrate His power through BJ's circumstances. And to Him we will give all the glory, honor, and praise!

I love you all and am praying for God's strength to sustain you as you wait on Him.

Loving and praying,

Still praying for BJ. I am praying for a miracle. I pray for strength and encouragement for your family. I pray that the Lord will be your Anchor and your Rock throughout this time for your family. Jesus is with you right this very second, and He is in control. Please know that He loves each and every one of you. I pray for wisdom for the doctors. Lord, if you take BJ home, please build up this family and all glory to You. It is hard to understand Your will sometimes Lord. But we just have to trust it. I lost two loved ones this summer. One after a long battle with cancer, and another in an unexpected accident. The Lord has been My Rock throughout this, and no doubt this grieving process has been hard. Trus in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but on His. You are in my prayers. May God have mercy on your family and BJ.

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney and BJ,

I imagine you didn't get alot of sleep last night. I feel like the Lord awakened me to pray. I asked how can the Higgins physically continue on day after day then the Lord brought this hymn to mind and it kept going over and over in my mind so I want to share it with you. My answer was...Becauae He Lives we can all face tomorrow.

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives

I know because He lives you all will be able to face the future. All I can add to that is Paula and I love you all so very much and pray with all of our being that God will cause a miracle to take over in room 2001. As long as there is breath in BJ we will continue to pray for his complete and total healing and restoration.
Please make it so Lord Jesus in YOur name Amen Love ......Phil

Dear Precious Higgins family,

The words of one of my favorite hymns keep coming to mind today. The hymn is "Trust Him When Thy Wants Are Many" vs. 3,5,6,&7 seem to address the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the day. May they bless you all.

vs. 3 Trust Him for the "grace sufficient"--Ever equal to thy need; Trust Him always for the answer, when in His dear name you plead.
vs. 5 Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee, Trust him when thy strength is small, Trust Him when to simply trust Him Seems the hardest thing of all.
vs. 6 Trust Him! He is ever faithful; Trust Him for his will is best; Trust Him for the heart of Jesus Is the only place of rest.
vs. 7 Trust Him, then, through clouds or sunshine, All thy cares upon Him cast; Till the storm of life is over, And the trusting days are past.

You are continually in my thoughts and prayers.

Love to you all in His perfect love,

Lord Jesus,

In Matthew 18:18-19 you spoke to your disciples and said "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them".

Please pray with me.

Lord Jesus Christ, we praise you! We love you Lord for you are Holy. You are Holy Lord! Lord Jesus, we lift BJ up to you right now and stand on the promise in the word of God, that when two or more are together anything we ask, it will be done by your Father in heaven. Lord send ministering angels to be all over him to take care of every inch of his body. Let there be a blanket of peace and comfort over his room, Lord. We command for the hand of the enemy and his helpers to be bound right now on this earth, where BJ's physical health, healing and wholeness are concerned, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord we lift BJ's physical body up to you and ask for you to take over this fight. Lord your strength is strong enough that you endured the cross, and it is strong enough to push this infection out of BJ. Lord we pray for a strengthening of his immune system, that you would pump him full of good antibodies to fight this infection. Lord Jesus, we come against any assignments or curses that may have been place on him by Satan, especially while he was in Peru, and command that all of them be cut and broken right now in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus by your strips he is healed and we claim the power of the cross for those who beleive over BJ's life. We beleive Lord Jesus, we believe that what you did set us free from the grips of the enemy. BJ is a son of God and the enemy has no authority over his physical body or his life. Father God he is yours. We praise you Father for your faithfulness to your children. We praise you and thank you in advance for the complete healing and restoration of BJ's physical body. Lord you are faithful, you are Holy Lord.

We lift up his family up to you and ask that you would send ministering angels to be over them, bringing them a amazing sense of peace and comfort right now. Help them to stand in faith that you are the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth and there is nothing to hard for you. Your are a faithful God.

We ask and pray all of these things in the Powerful Name of Our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

AMEN!!

When I can't feel you, I will not fear,I will trust in you and I will not be afraid.
When the battle is close at hand, I know that you are with me to help me stand. I will trust in you and I will not be afraid.

Father God, we praise You for Your unceasing work in our lives. I lift up Your children: BJ, Brent, Deanna, Lauren, & Whitney. Give them strenght and peace, Lord Jesus. Your will be done! Lord, if this is a finished work, let us be content with it and praise You for it. BJ is in Your hands, as are we all. I also pray for the medical staff as these next 24 to 48 hours will bring crucial decisions. Bless them with Your wisdom, Father. Leave no explanation except for Your mighty power! In Your holy name, I pray. Amen.

I am reminded of one of Casting Crowns' new songs:

Praise You In This Storm
by Casting Crowns

I was sure by now
God, You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away,
Stepped in and saved the day.
But, once again, I say Amen
And it's still raining

Chorus:
As the thunder rolls,
I barely hear You whisper thru the rain,
"I'm with you."
And as Your mercy falls,
I'll raise my hands
And praise the God who gives
And takes away

And I'll praise You in this storm,
And I will lift my hands.
For You are who You are
No matter where I am.
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand.
You've never left my side,
And though my heart is torn,
I will praise You in this storm.

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind.
You heard my cry to You
And raised me up again.
My strength is almost gone.
How can I carry on
If I can't find You?

Chorus

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
The maker of heaven and earth.

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
The maker of heaven and earth.

Chorus

Still praying and praising!

Lord - we have truly reached that moment when only You can deliver.

We are so grateful for all the medical folks have done. We ask you to continue to bless them and decisions they have yet to make.

We lift up our brother BJ and ask for that miracle that You can deliver. Caste the demon of infection from his body. Eliminate the fever and bring his organs back into line.

Allow his family to feel Your arms around them in the hours ahead. Comfort them and provide them that peace only You can bring.

You are Our God and we lay ourselves at Your mighty throne.

Your will be done.

I am sitting here thinking that from a human standpoint there is so little to say in circumstances such as yours but as you read the blogs it is apparent that the Body of Christ has much to say. And for that we can all Praise our God- Lord and Creator of everything. How amazing He is to have called so many people to stand upon His Word with assurance and obedience to pray, encourage, and minister to not only this family but all who read. Who else but a God like ours could do such incomprehensible and wonderful things. Father God we pray for You to provide a way where the medical staff can longer bring assured hope. For Your glory and the good of Your children. In the Name above all names- Jesus Christ.

As I have been reading your site I think that this illness in BJ has only continued the life that he would have wanted. Through his sickness without even knowing it he has reached a lot of people!! The word is getting out and it seems like people are coming to know Jesus because of his life. Not only are people getting to know Jesus but people are getting closer to Jesus because of his life. This is something that we must praise God for! A life lived so much to the fullest that God is using it even when he can't say anything or do anything to bring Glory to Christ!! You all should be praised for wanting what the father wants. I am so amazed by your spirits in this time. You are truly reflecting Christ. As times are hard remember that Christ is all you ever need and ever want. Let him be the only thing fills you up and the only thing that Gives you hope. My church will be praying as we know the needs you have and will continue to have. Your love for BJ in this time is what will help him in the hard times he will have in the time to come. Keep loving him like only Christ can do through you. Love you guys!

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney and the extended family,
Jes wanted me to write and let you know that they are praying for BJ this week-end without ceasing. They do not have access to a computer but I have kept them updated this morning. Their love and prayers are with you at this time. We pray that BJ's body will fight this infection and that his temp will go down.
Lord, bless Dr. Sichting in a very special way today. I'm sure she has grown to love BJ as we all have. Lord we want your will to be done but you also tell us to tell you what is on our hearts. Our hearts want BJ to be physically healed so that he can continue to proclaim your word to the ends of the earth. We know that he is a child of yours and that is not a concern for any of us. Lord, please be with the family as there may be decisions made this week-end and give them comfort as only you can give. Lord we want your will to be done and we know that it will only happen in your time! Lord, grant us all peace!
Love and prayers,

I have been praying for Beej and I know that the Lord has His arms wrapped around Beej and is protecting him right at this moment. The Lord is Awesome and can work miracles. Beej's live thus far has been a wonderful display of a man in love with God and he has shown his love to those all around the world. I have never met Beej, but I know that he has been truly blessed by God. Trials of this life are only temporary, but we are looking to the wonderful eternal life that God has prepared for all His faithful servants. My mom passed away from cancer in March and I know that these trials and suffering is hard. God is in control in every aspect of our life though. He will heal Beej either on this earth or with a divine healing in Heaven. I think of how truly lucky my mom is now that she gets to be with the Lord in Heaven with no pain and no suffering. That is AWESOME! I am continuing to pray for God's will to be done for Beej. We send lots of love and prayers from Texas and hopw that today brings a miraculous healing for Beej!

Lord, we look to you once again for strength. Strength to believe that in an impossible situation, You are the God of the impossible. Yes, we understand that the hospitals have done all that they can do, but that's not not true of You. You are able to make the blind see; You are able to make deaf ears to hear; You are able to raise the dead to life again and You Are able to bring BJ from this place of uncertainty to miraculous and immediate healing. Thank you for being Jehovah Rapha, the God who Heals. In Your word, it says that Jesus went about healing ALL who were sick and oppressed of the devil. If we were in biblical days, we would bring BJ to the foot of Jesus and he would be healed, but since we are not we bring him to the Throne of Grace where Jesus sits to make intercession for us and ask that You would heal him. Thank you that the prayers of the righteous availeth much. We know that You will be continue to be glorified in this situation. We love and praise you, and thank you for the priveledge of being allowed to minister to BJ's family and You in this way. May your peace surround them as this day proceeds and may they experience your presence in a new and sustaining way.

Love,
Your Daughter
Dawn D.

Lord Jesus,
Thank you for BJ. If it is in your will, we ask you to heal the parts of his body that need healing. You know what they are in total. Please comfort him and hold him close.

Please comfort your children. We are puzzled and worried. We confess our inability to sometimes simply trust when faced with a concern of this magnitude. Please strengthen our belief...give us the ability to rest in your promises...to feel your presence...to smell the sweetness of your breath.

Thank you for sustaining the Higgins. Thank you for the way you love each one in a very personal way. Please meet each one of their current needs in that way, as well. Please bless them with the kind of human comfort only those around them can give, according to your design. Thank you for making us able to stretch out our arms to give your comfort here on earth.

We Praise you, Father. You are worthy of our praise! May everything we do bring praise to you.

Dear Family,
Have we hit day 40 yet? Something keeps coming to my mind about 40 days and 40 nights, 40 years in the wilderness... God is about to move in a mighty way. It won't be Beej that declares himself, it will be a DIVINE DECLARATION! Our God is so huge and so sovereign. He will be glorified through this entire "wilderness" you are in.

Lord Jesus,
I just pray right now for you to move in such a mighty way and that we will see YOUR DECLARATION right now. You have carried our brother this far and there is only set of footprints in the sand. I know that you have a mighty warrior in your precious one-BJ. His work is not finished and we just thank you for whatever HUGE thing you are about to do. Continue supplying the peace that only comes from you to this sweet family. In your holy and precious name, AMEN.

Lamentations 3:21-26

21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."

25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Where the medical staff leaves off, Jesus will step in. He is the ultimate Healer. We pray that this is His will and that BJ will begin to show improvement today and will stabilize. I am also praying that He will heal your weary bodies and spirits. This has to be so mentally and physically draining on all of you.
I pray for your renewed strength, for the medical staff's wisdom and skill, I know they are experiencing heartbreak at this moment, also. BJ has touched so many lives and I know everyone who has heard his story will never be the same. BJ has accomplished so much for being so young. We pray that he will be given the opportunity to accomplish more for Christ in the years to come. This is our fervant prayer today. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout the day and night. We love you all very much.

Make yourself known wonderfully and powerfully in Room 2001 at St. Vincent's hospital today, Father. Hold Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney close to you. Give them your strength and your peace.
Be with BJ today, heal his body, Father. Raise his SAT levels and lower his fever, remove any infection from his body. We know that you, the One who made BJ, knows him better than any of us... please be with the doctors as they decide how to treat BJ today. Give them strength and wisdom.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie in green pastures,
he leads me beside still waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the prescence of mine enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

I received an email from Mercy Me and I've just spent the last hour pouring through the love and prayers offered to BJ and his precious and faithful family. How proud God must be of Beej's family coming together and remaining faithful. I offer a humble prayer for Beej and his family.........

Heavenly Father, All who have known BJ or have learned of his present situation come to your throne. Together, as we feel you are in our midst, we climb upon your lap and ask that you listen to our hearts. We pray that as we've cried out to you that all of those tears are collected and used as a healing balm upon BJ. May all of those tears that have been shed, pour over on BJ and begin the miraculous power of healing that can only come from you. We speak life into BJ's body. We speak healing into all of his cells. We command that his body and organs align themselves into perfect functioning, in Jesus name.

Lord we know that BJ knows you and invited your precious son to come into his heart. Jesus died on the cross for us and you brought him back to life. That same miracle that brought your son Jesus back to life, we call on now. We ask that the spirit of Jesus that lives in BJ take hold of his precious body and start healing right now, in Jesus name.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have used BJ to draw many, many more to your kingdom. He has been a mighty soldier for you and as a result many will come to know Heaven. Bless him Lord. We know that obedience commands a blessing and he has been obedient.

May your compassionate heart be filled with all the love and prayers that have been shared for BJ and his family. May the miraculous healing that falls upon BJ continue to draw more to your kingdom.

May the faithfulness and love that BJ's family has shown, tear down walls and barriers that have kept others from knowing you. The family has been faithful in witnessing Lord. Bless them for their work for your kingdom. Comfort them, strengthen them and pour down your love upon them. Send forth your angels to continue to put a song in their hearts, laughter in their souls and a sparkle in their eyes.

We all sing praises to you Lord. For we know that your hand is on BJ and that you have heard our heartfelt prayers. We love you Lord! We smile knowing that our prayers have been beautiful music to your ears. We know that our prayers led to the angels in heaving dancing and rejoicing. Our prayers we ask in your precious son's name, Jesus Christ. AMEN! AMEN! and AMEN!

I've never met anyone in your family - but I know that in the Lord you are my family. Be assured that God is spreading word of B.J.s health and need for prayer in creative and wonderful ways. Yesterday two people whom I'd never met before asked me to pray for B.J. and your family and to spread the call for prayer to other prayer warriors. "You, Lord, are the one I praise. So heal me and rescue me! Then I will be completely well and perfectly safe." Jeremiah 17:14
