I just talked with the doctor and they are going to take him off the CVVH (dialysis) machine for 24 hours to try to get his kidneys going. This too will make it easier to prone him. All this is happening during most morning worship services - we are reassured again that God is in control.

A quiet night, just one brief unexplained period of time when his oxygen dropped to the upper 80's, a few minor adjustments were made and he was back in the 90's again. This time he wasn't suctioned, so my professional theories I guess I'll keep to myself... The vascular doctor looked at his canula sights and they are healing well. They will turn him back to his stomach today. Continue praying for kidney function. They're checking his blood gases every 6 hours now, so that's progress. His face is looking more like himself, however, when he's back on his tummy, that may change (the swelling is more evident when he's prone - on tummy)

Relish your worship experience,
BJ's Mom

Praise Jesus for His faithfulness through this whole journey. It's wonderful to hear positive updates and to know that healing and progress are occuring. I'm off to praise Jesus with many others in church, I pray that all of you there would be filled with worship, and that the Father would supply you with everything you need today. May this be a day of healing and rest on the Sabbath. Matthew 12:8-13

Good Morning Higgins Family,
We are just getting ready to leave for SS and wanted you to know that we will be lifting You all up this morning..
Last night at worship we heard a wonderful message and was reminded of how precious our life is to God and how much he loves us.
Our minister used
Psalm 23:1-4
1.The Lord is my Sheperd;
I have everything i need.
2.He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads beside peacful streams.
3.HE RENEWS MY STRENGTH.
he guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.

4 even when I walk through the dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

(How I pray that he will continue to renew your strength each and everyday and BJs as well.)

Each cell in BJ's body is rejuvenated as healing light surrounds him, flows through him, and emanates from him. As healing progresses may all those in his contact be healed as well of all doubts and fears. Peace fills the hearts and minds of those near BJ, for those praying for BJ and for those who have already realized and affirmed his complete recovery.

Hi, My name is Mandi Howeltt and I went to Peru a few summers ago and I would do anything to go back. My heart longs for the people and soul desires to tell them of God's greatness. Your son seems like such a cool guy. God has a plan for his life. I know that just hearing his story so far has really effected me. I am praying for your family daily and will continue to pray. God loves you and knows what he is doing. Keep your head up and smile!

Continuing to pray and sending lots of love to BJ and his family. . .talked with a man today who visited our service who had spent several months in the hospital after a terrible car accident. It changed his perspective on life. I am grateful that God had already changed BJ's perspective "from death to life" long before he faced this situation. We are lifting up BJ as the dialysis stops. . .go kidneys, go. . .

Precious Lord and Savior,
Please help BJ's kidneys start working and once they do please let there be no further complications with them. I thank you that his canula sightings are healing well. Please keep his swelling down...especially when they turn him today. Please Lord, just keep BJ in your healing hand...sustain him and heal him 100%. I thank you that you have brought so much glory to your name through this whole situation. We can totally see your hand in all of this. Thank you.
Amen

CWH machine. We prayed for BJ in the 9:30 and 11:00 services this morning. We continue to cover you with prayer.

If it makes you feel any better Deanna...I agree with you. Our son had issues when he would be suctioned as well. Mom's always know their children...trust your instincts. I pray strength for you everyday.

Brent, Deanna, Lauren & Whitney,

I know how very hard and slow the healing process can seem, first hand. I continue to pray for BJ's Kidneys to awaken and for his sats to remain high. Even though it may seem slow, BJ is on the LORDS timetable. That always amazes me and yet brings me peace. BJ is EXACTLY where the Lord knew he would be today. Again today I reach our to you through the Holy Spirit. Rather than visit you personally I pray you sense my heartfelt connection with you and how I long with every fiber of my being for BJ to be restored. I wish there was more I could do for you but I know you are surrouded with loved ones. Draw comfort and strength from those of us who continue this journey along side of you. I cannot think of a place I would rather be this moment then approach the Throne of Grace by your side. For however long it takes, I am here for you with non relenting prayers until that day comes that you report BJ has been made whole. From my heart and Paula's to yours...we love you !!!

What a beautiful day in the Lord it is. What a blessing it was to be among fellow believers & praise our God this morning. He is awesome!!

I can't tell you how much Friday's journal entry from BJ spoke to me. In fact, it's the main reason I was able to put everything aside & just worship the Lord knowing that He blesses us when we are obedient, not when we are perfect. To serve Him when He asks above our insecurities and worries, forgetting our inadequacies & limitations (because He ALWAYS supplies whats needed), being a servant to His people and not focusing on ourselves pleases the Lord. Thanks for your insight BJ!!

Glad to hear about boring days! Glad to hear about healing. Praying for continued strength & praising God for answered prayers, rest, and His faithfulness. We sang "Great is His Faithfulness" this morning & it is 100% true, isn't it??

Blessings,
Angela

Just wanted to let you know you remain in our thoughts and prayers throughout each day and into the night. Love you guys. Oh- we are in the "pink" today! Take care.

This morning, Lynne, our pastor's wife here in Gray, Ga shared BJ's story with us. I know what it is like to have a son struggle to live and to spend many nights praying in an ICU waiting room or stretched out flat on my face in a hotel room, praying that God would save my son. I read every journal and wept and praised God with you. Especially, I praise God that he chose this young man for himself. I was humbled when I read his journal entries. So wise for a 15 year old. Only God could give that kind of wisdom. I also wanted to mention to you a possibility for your son's illness. My husband is a veterinarian...he mentioned leptospirosis.Very common in Peru in the water. I doubt with all the antibiotics that BJ has had over the last 2 months that there is much evidence of what 'bug' it was that started this medical odessy. But nonetheless, this journey God allowed BJ to travel has touched the hearts of so many.
Plus I have a true story I want to tell you about. Katie, who is now 18, traveled to South America with a missions group from her church in Rome GA. I believe it was Peru. Everyone returned home with an upper respiratory infection. Katie just got worse and worse. She ended up at Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta GA. They gave her family no hope. At that point, the infection was in her brain and the lining of her brain. Her mother was praying and God told her that Katie would recover. Unkown to her parents, their Church in Rome called a prayer meeting on a friday night to pray for Katie. When we lived in Rome, many years ago, we were members of that church. Well, at this prayer meeting, 100's wept at the alter. Two prayers seemed to be consistant with everyone...that Katie would have a sudden, miraculous recovery, and that the doctor in charge (an athiest) would say, "I am amazed at her recovery."

Saturday passed...Katie remained comatose, barely hanging on. Sunday at noon, she began to cough. Her mother saw her open her eyes, and Katie began pulling at the vent tube. She ran out the door yelling for help. The nurse later said she though Katie had died and her mother had finally 'lost it.'
They called the doc, he thought they were lying. He came in and they removed the vent. Katie sat straight up in bed and said, "I'm starving...can I have something to eat." The doctor, sat back and said, "I am amazed."

May God bring BJ a miracously swift recovery.

BJ is in my prayers. As we speak, angels are surrounding him. God is going to do great things and you will be blessed. I have no doubt that Jesus is comforting BJ and preparing him for the time ahead. God is with you and will never leave you. Remember is faithfullness and never doubt his absence. I pray for healing and protection and that you will soon be able to hold your BJ in your arms as you have so long wanted to do. Do not be afraid for God is beside you and he will never stray from your side. Trust his goodness and his strength and good things will come from this hard time. They always have.
