Prayer Warriors,

DON'T STOP! He is in post-surgery at this moment but the staff is trying to stop leaking air and fluid from the site that the doctor removed the drain tube in his lung from. They had hoped to insert a new tube but were unable to do so; the lung has taken on a stiff consistency rather than the balloon-like feel it should have.

When they removed the tube there was a gush of fluid that indicates that Beej's body had walled off the drain tube, preventing drainage from passing through it. They pulled off at least 10 ounces of fluid and they are hoping that this will allow his lung to expand further. Under normal circumstances they would be able to open up the chest and manipulate things a bit more, but BJ's body isn't up to this invasive a procedure.

On the positive side, his SAT rose to 100 (before backing off a bit) and his blood gas reading has improved. His other stats remain stable and for this we truly praise our Lord. We are praying that they can get the "leak" under control and they can proceed with the other procedure later this afternoon.

We are so humbled by your diligence in praying and for our Lord's faithfulness through this "storm."

Beej's Uncle

God is so good! I am continually praying for BJ today and always!

Wonderful God,
I thank you for the fluid that they were able to pull off and I thank you for bringing BJ's SAT up to 100! Please keep it in the high 90s at least...but it would be incredible if you kept his SATs at 100. Please keep his blood gas readings up. Please let the rest of the procedures today go smoothly. Keep BJ in your hand Lord...there is no better place for him than there! I love you and thank you for being faithful in all that you do!
Amen

For all of us who have been wondering what all has happened in room 2001 since 1:30 pm and hitting the "refresh" key repeatedly this afternoon...this update is very welcome. Praise God for this good report!

I have been struck this afternoon, reading through all these blogs from a worldwide family of my brothers and sisters in Christ, some of whose names are becoming very familiar to me. We are all in such different stages of our faith journeys and understanding of how God moves and works...but all united in our desire to see BJ healthy and whole and walking out of that hospital room to continue furthering the kingdom of God.

I know in my own weak faith, I am tempted to think that there there must be one magic technique...if a thousand people all prayed on their knees at the exact same moment in time...or if we all fasted on the same day...then that would be the one thing that would compel God to answer our prayers the way we want. And I do know that it doesn't work that way. That is why I appreciated so much Cousin Beth's words earlier this week about trusting God to do the right thing, even though that may mean giving up our own idea of what the right thing for us really is.

HOWEVER...I still intend to keep praying tonight for my idea of the right thing: reinflated lungs, a clean hip and raining kidneys SOON. :)

With my heartfelt prayers and a big hug,

Angie

Will be praying through the night. He is Able more than able to accomplish what concerns you today. I don't understand why BJ and you have to go though this. It breaks my heart to see those I love hurting, but I have to believe that BJ is in Gods divine plan and like your amazing faith I am just trusting our Creator to take care of my dear brother and if it be His Will to heal and restore BJ. Please, please Lord Jesus make it so. Cover Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney with such an overwhelming peace that they know it can come only from you. We love you with an eternal love......Phil & Paula

I was so grateful for the update. I can't count how many times I have checked the computer this afternoon in prayer. Lord Jesus, complete your miracle in your time and your way. Get us out of the way and allow you to work through the doctors and staff. We pray that the leaking will stop and the lung will inflate. Will check in later for another "good" update. How deep the Father's love for (BJ)
How vast beyond all measure...

It is my hope and prayer that God would continue to stand beside BJ as he endures this sickness and that He would carry you (his family and friends) through every turn (both good and bad).

Though we cannot fathom why the Lord allows such hardships to come into our lives, we take courage in knowing that our Mighty and Awesome Creator has each and every moment of our lives planned out for us and for His purpose.

I'm glad to hear that the first procedure of the day has gone smoothly. I pray that the next one will go just as well (or better).

Be encouraged dear brothers and sisters. His grace is sufficient for you and for BJ.

May he continue to be your Rock and Sanctuary.

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness.

Dear Family of BJ,
You are definitely in our prayers. We know exactly what you're going through. Our 17-yr-old daughter came through a serious illness. It began in March of '04. The cold sore virus (herpes simplex) went to her brain and caused it to swell. She had 5 surgeries. The doctors didn't know if she would pull through, and if she did, if she would be ok. Well, the doctors just don't know our God! She has recovered and was able to return to school this fall. The agony and the emotions just absolutely drain you. But God is there to give you strength. We're praying for you always.
