Prayer Warriors,

DON'T STOP! He is in post-surgery at this moment but the staff is trying to stop leaking air and fluid from the site that the doctor removed the drain tube in his lung from. They had hoped to insert a new tube but were unable to do so; the lung has taken on a stiff consistency rather than the balloon-like feel it should have.

When they removed the tube there was a gush of fluid that indicates that Beej's body had walled off the drain tube, preventing drainage from passing through it. They pulled off at least 10 ounces of fluid and they are hoping that this will allow his lung to expand further. Under normal circumstances they would be able to open up the chest and manipulate things a bit more, but BJ's body isn't up to this invasive a procedure.

On the positive side, his SAT rose to 100 (before backing off a bit) and his blood gas reading has improved. His other stats remain stable and for this we truly praise our Lord. We are praying that they can get the "leak" under control and they can proceed with the other procedure later this afternoon.

We are so humbled by your diligence in praying and for our Lord's faithfulness through this "storm."

Beej's Uncle

Wonderful God,
I thank you for the fluid that they were able to pull off and I thank you for bringing BJ's SAT up to 100! Please keep it in the high 90s at least...but it would be incredible if you kept his SATs at 100. Please keep his blood gas readings up. Please let the rest of the procedures today go smoothly. Keep BJ in your hand Lord...there is no better place for him than there! I love you and thank you for being faithful in all that you do!
Amen

For all of us who have been wondering what all has happened in room 2001 since 1:30 pm and hitting the "refresh" key repeatedly this afternoon...this update is very welcome. Praise God for this good report!

I have been struck this afternoon, reading through all these blogs from a worldwide family of my brothers and sisters in Christ, some of whose names are becoming very familiar to me. We are all in such different stages of our faith journeys and understanding of how God moves and works...but all united in our desire to see BJ healthy and whole and walking out of that hospital room to continue furthering the kingdom of God.

I know in my own weak faith, I am tempted to think that there there must be one magic technique...if a thousand people all prayed on their knees at the exact same moment in time...or if we all fasted on the same day...then that would be the one thing that would compel God to answer our prayers the way we want. And I do know that it doesn't work that way. That is why I appreciated so much Cousin Beth's words earlier this week about trusting God to do the right thing, even though that may mean giving up our own idea of what the right thing for us really is.

HOWEVER...I still intend to keep praying tonight for my idea of the right thing: reinflated lungs, a clean hip and raining kidneys SOON. :)

With my heartfelt prayers and a big hug,

Angie

How deep the Father's love for (BJ)
How vast beyond all measure...

It is my hope and prayer that God would continue to stand beside BJ as he endures this sickness and that He would carry you (his family and friends) through every turn (both good and bad).

Though we cannot fathom why the Lord allows such hardships to come into our lives, we take courage in knowing that our Mighty and Awesome Creator has each and every moment of our lives planned out for us and for His purpose.

I'm glad to hear that the first procedure of the day has gone smoothly. I pray that the next one will go just as well (or better).

Be encouraged dear brothers and sisters. His grace is sufficient for you and for BJ.

May he continue to be your Rock and Sanctuary.

PRAISE YOU ALMIGHTY GOD!

This has been an axoius afternoon for all of us pressing that "refresh" button, hoping to see good word. Once again YOU have provided. In YOUR PERFECT TIME,IN YOUR PERFECT WILL.

Thank you BJ's uncle for the update, another long afternoon for you all I know. Deanna & Brent, I can only imagine, and probably not very well, the rushing emotions. I pray that you are not overwhelmed. If so, I pray that time is brief and that you are reassured by God's "Amazing Grace" and the love of his people for you.

I know that you are all tired and spent. God I ask you to lay your hands on each family member, Deanna, Brent, Lauren, and Whitney. Give them what they need Lord, allow them to see and take moments to rest and eat. Strengthen their bodies, Father, allow their bodies and minds to rest at every opportunity. Lord, I ask that those around them would be attentive to that need and help to gently remind them to take those breaks. Provide them with the peace of mind to do so, Lord. Allow them to "give themselves permission" to rest.

I can see you caressing BJ's forehead, through each procedure, as any parent would, Lord. Thank you for that comfort.

Jesus, YOU know every hair on BJ's head, YOU know every organ, every vein. Please, Lord God, if it be YOUR WILL guide the doctors to clearly see the need, see the answers and to have success in treatment.

Lord, I beg for YOUR grace and mercy on this family, on this life. I know where BJ's "life" is, WHO it belongs to Lord, but I'm asking not just for the family but selfishly for YOU to allow healing, to allow aother miracle in this faithful servant's life to happen.

Please stabalize BJ though this evening and any other procedures, Lord. I ask that anything that needs to be done further tonight will bring only positive results.

Thank you Father so very much for your love and the nurturing you have provided to each of us "praying bloggers". We're still learning....

Doctors, nurses...we're still praying over you too!

Thank you, Jesus!

Great big hugs to all of you.
Love,
debbie

Dear Family of BJ,
You are definitely in our prayers. We know exactly what you're going through. Our 17-yr-old daughter came through a serious illness. It began in March of '04. The cold sore virus (herpes simplex) went to her brain and caused it to swell. She had 5 surgeries. The doctors didn't know if she would pull through, and if she did, if she would be ok. Well, the doctors just don't know our God! She has recovered and was able to return to school this fall. The agony and the emotions just absolutely drain you. But God is there to give you strength. We're praying for you always.

howdy fam...

wow...i was so blessed that 230 people blogged onto the last update....
wow...prayer worriers unite!

I am reading a book by Louie Giglio...it's titled...

"I am not...but I know I AM"
its been a great encouragement and reminder...that God.."I AM' knows better than me...and that he is in control.

Here is a little excerpt that made me think of you all and BJ.

"God is always looking for ordinary people to play significant roles in His unfolding story...
And given that He is God and supremely ocnfident in Himself, He is free to choose the least among us---the slowest---the lesser known, the last, the smallest, the poorest--to accomplish amazing, God-sized stuff. While as humans we try to partner with the brightest and most powerful,
God is simply looking for people who are willing to take Him at His word--those confident that with
Him in the equation....
EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!"

Wow...God chose little ole BJ...and all of you...to play such a significant part in His story!

I'm waiting with anticipation to turn the page and see what is next in the story...although I must confess ...i really want to peek on the last page and see how it all turns out...
yet I know that there is much in this part of the story for me to learn!!!

Hugs to you all...
Did Lynae...Rich and fam make it there...I have been praying for them sooo much...include me in on the big family group hug... I love you guys!
