A quick update before bed: His stats are in the 90's! We pray that is the trend for the night. Since his reserves are low, he is very sensitive to meds and the blood warming mechanism in the CVVH machine. His temperature goes from high to low so they are continually "tweaking" (all you "You've Got Mail" fans will understand) to keep him in the normal range. Pray that they are able to take off enough fluid to relieve the pressures of the internal organs - his kidneys are being squeezed and that is part of the reason they are not functioning. Perhaps this is simplifying his internal concerns, but this is at least part of it. We know God is ultimately in control and we continue to pray for His healing hand to take action! Do we dare ask for patience? You know how dangerous that is! We love you Lord and we press on,
BJ's mom

To the wonderful Higgin's family,
We will continue to pray for healing, strength, and wisdom. All of you absolutely amaze our family. We hope to someday meet you to see just what such precious people look like. Our Savior is awesome. Continue in His strength.

Father, we pray for a quiet and restful night. Please keep all the stats where they need to be. And, please heal his kidneys so they start functioning. Give Brent and Deanna strength and courage. Amen!

Just a quick note, tonight at Kids Club at church, we talked about saying no to fear. We talked about Peter and how when He kept his eyes on Jesus, he could walk on water! But, as soon as he took his eyes off of Him, he began to sink!! So, keep your eyes on Him and He'll pull you through!! Phil. 4:13

Wow. Haven't been able to check the site for several hours. . .awesome to read more of BJ's heart through his journal. My kids were wishing they already had the shirts to wear to church tonight. . .guess we'll all be watching our mailboxes! Thanks again, Walker, David, and the rest of Awe Star!

Your comment about "dangerous" made me think right away of the part in The Chronicles of Narnia where they are speaking of Aslan (Christ figure) and saying "He's good, but he's not safe." I think BJ's relationship with God is reflective of that in many ways. Our family is grateful to pray for a young man who is so clearly committed to an extreme God who asks for radical commitment. May we all become more like Jesus as we pray for his servant, BJ.

Blessings on your rest tonight. . .and let it rain, oh God, let it rain!

Dear Jesus,
We do so pray for a calm, uneventful, and night of rest for BJ and the family. We pray for his body to release the fluids and for it to "rain" in BJ's room.

I read the journal entry at our choir rehearsal tonight a FBC Tulsa. They were amazed at his wisdom and insight to God and his wonders, especially at such a young age.

Looking forward to getting my shirt (if I can get David to bring it home to us and not mail across town!)I want to wear it to a Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma retreat in Shawnee this weekend. It will be a great witness for a very brave young man and his family.

Praying continually!

Dearest Higgins Family!

Press on towards the goal!

We continue to pray, pray, pray...for the kidneys, the lungs, the numbers, the doctors, the nurses, the equipment, for Brent, for Deanna, for Whitney, & Lauren...we pray for complete healing...We pray for peace because we know His will will be done!

God is so good at confirming & encouraging us to pray. We are here all hours of the night "holding up your arms". I pray for rest that restores you tonight.

:) As my dad always says...the race is not a sprint! We pray for strength & endurance in this race.

I have found myself asking the Lord how to pray for you. Sometimes at a loss as you share with us the ups & downs. So I have prayed recently, asking that the bloggers that you know well & hardly know will be a blessing to a way that He would speak to you through His body.

Most of the time, words just don't seem to express the love, concern, & support that I want to offer to you. It is the "wildest" feel so very close to someone you have never met. This is God!! Anyway, I pray that He continues to reveal Himself to you in many, many the verses, notes, the postings, the doctors/nurses comments, the songs you is def. all about Him! Your witness that He is doing this already is wonderful...I pray that He continues to do so in an even bigger way!

May you continue to rest in Him tonight.

In Him,

"When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever" Prov 10:18

Hi, My name is Connor and I am Karen Vesely's son. I am 12 years old and my birthday is coming up in October. I am going to celebrate it on the same weekend as BJ's birthday. We will have a great time and remember BJ. The party will be for both of us. I am going to send BJ something for his birthday.
We ordered our t-shirts. They're sick. Ya.
I am going to pray my heart out for BJ. I hope he gets better.

Dear Father, please be with BJ throughout the night. Give him a restful, uneventful night.Dear Lord, please help his kidneys to begin working properly and drain the fluid from his body. Thank you so very much for the stability of today and may that continue one day at a time.

Please be with the Higgins family and bless them with rest and peace that can only come from resting in you. Encourage them with your tender loving arms and merciful grace.

Father, continue to be with the wonderful medical staff you have put in place around BJ. Thank you for their wisdom and for giving them your direction. Father continue to guide them and bless them and their families.

Thank you Father for "Cousin Beth's" entry earlier. It was such a challenge to me to examine my life and heart and to reach out to others in the name of Jesus. To be willing to do whatever He directs me to do with a right heart attitude. Praise you Father.

In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

To BJ's Mom & Dad-
The people at Northwood Baptist church are on their knees for BJ. My heart is breaking, yet encouraged for you all at the same time. I heard one of my favorite Mark Schultz songs this morning on the radio, and thought it was so appropriate for you. I'm sure you've heard it, but in case you haven't, the lyrics follow. They are my prayer for you this morning. May God bless and keep you.

He's My Son- by Mark Schultz

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son

You are in our prayers. Keep looking towards the goal. Christ has called, he will not abandon. You have shown this from day one and your attitude has been one of a great witness to those near and far. I am truly amazed and encouraged.

I cant imagine how tiresome this all must be for you. I'm glad Tiffany and I got to meet you, and pray that our family will be as faithful as you when faced with trials. We love you and continue to pray for you.

Tell BJ no more missed/alternate flights... he needs to fly straight to recovery and get well!! :)
