A quick update before bed: His stats are in the 90's! We pray that is the trend for the night. Since his reserves are low, he is very sensitive to meds and the blood warming mechanism in the CVVH machine. His temperature goes from high to low so they are continually "tweaking" (all you "You've Got Mail" fans will understand) to keep him in the normal range. Pray that they are able to take off enough fluid to relieve the pressures of the internal organs - his kidneys are being squeezed and that is part of the reason they are not functioning. Perhaps this is simplifying his internal concerns, but this is at least part of it. We know God is ultimately in control and we continue to pray for His healing hand to take action! Do we dare ask for patience? You know how dangerous that is! We love you Lord and we press on,
BJ's mom

Psalm 3:3-5

But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill.

Wow. Haven't been able to check the site for several hours. . .awesome to read more of BJ's heart through his journal. My kids were wishing they already had the shirts to wear to church tonight. . .guess we'll all be watching our mailboxes! Thanks again, Walker, David, and the rest of Awe Star!

Your comment about "dangerous" made me think right away of the part in The Chronicles of Narnia where they are speaking of Aslan (Christ figure) and saying "He's good, but he's not safe." I think BJ's relationship with God is reflective of that in many ways. Our family is grateful to pray for a young man who is so clearly committed to an extreme God who asks for radical commitment. May we all become more like Jesus as we pray for his servant, BJ.

Blessings on your rest tonight. . .and let it rain, oh God, let it rain!

Dearest Higgins Family!

Press on towards the goal!

We continue to pray, pray, pray...for the kidneys, the lungs, the numbers, the doctors, the nurses, the equipment, for Brent, for Deanna, for Whitney, & Lauren...we pray for complete healing...We pray for peace because we know His will will be done!

God is so good at confirming & encouraging us to pray. We are here all hours of the night "holding up your arms". I pray for rest that restores you tonight.

:) As my dad always says...the race is not a sprint! We pray for strength & endurance in this race.

I have found myself asking the Lord how to pray for you. Sometimes at a loss as you share with us the ups & downs. So I have prayed recently, asking that the bloggers that you know well & hardly know will be a blessing to you...in a way that He would speak to you through His body.

Most of the time, words just don't seem to express the love, concern, & support that I want to offer to you. It is the "wildest" thing...to feel so very close to someone you have never met. This is God!! Anyway, I pray that He continues to reveal Himself to you in many, many ways...in the verses, notes, the postings, the doctors/nurses comments, the songs you hear...it is def. all about Him! Your witness that He is doing this already is wonderful...I pray that He continues to do so in an even bigger way!

May you continue to rest in Him tonight.

In Him,
McMahans

To BJ's Mom & Dad-
The people at Northwood Baptist church are on their knees for BJ. My heart is breaking, yet encouraged for you all at the same time. I heard one of my favorite Mark Schultz songs this morning on the radio, and thought it was so appropriate for you. I'm sure you've heard it, but in case you haven't, the lyrics follow. They are my prayer for you this morning. May God bless and keep you.

He's My Son- by Mark Schultz

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

CHORUS:
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

CHORUS

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son

You are in our prayers. Keep looking towards the goal. Christ has called, he will not abandon. You have shown this from day one and your attitude has been one of a great witness to those near and far. I am truly amazed and encouraged.

I cant imagine how tiresome this all must be for you. I'm glad Tiffany and I got to meet you, and pray that our family will be as faithful as you when faced with trials. We love you and continue to pray for you.

P.S.
Tell BJ no more missed/alternate flights... he needs to fly straight to recovery and get well!! :)

A while back during a bible study we talked about the dangers of praying for patience haha, instead of praying for patience, we would pray for perserverance instead
