A quiet evening: oxygen sat right at 90 and blood pressure holding steady. He didn't need to have extra sedation meds all afternoon with music playing in his ears! Status quo is on the agenda for the night. Tomorrow is day 40 so, prayer warriors, it would be a great day for new miracles! Pray on!!

The entry I've chosen from BJ's journal tonight is on a day when he was the MTL, which is ministry team leader, meaning he's the "talker." The students go out and share Christ to individuals in the crowd in teams of 3 after performing the drama. Each member has a role: Prayer, Distracter or Ministry Team Leader. This day they performed the drama 3 times.

1st drama - rocks. 2nd drama - prayer walk plaza, Kayla saw a glimpse or vision of glory, 3 men came. 3rd - Plaza de Armas again. Had to rely on God's strength to do drama [sick] 1st place, one lady went over to Marco, then God called me to go speak to these 4 policemen. I [was] kinda nervous cuz they could've easily laughed in my face or else whip out their uzis and order us to get off the premises, but God is teaching me obedience so I went and talked to them. As I was speaking, 2 of the 4's eyes started to well up and you could tell they wanted Christ. Other 2 were also sincere. Just as I finished the card [they share the gospel from cards written in Spanish] Marco [their translator] walked up (had been having translator problems) All 4 accepted Christ. As we were handing out response cards, I turn around and am instructed to share with another man, so I begin and eventually a crowd gathers and I'm witnessing with Marco. Then one guy says his religion says if you have a tattoo, you're going to hell, then he had other questions that Marco and I tried to answer as best we could, then most of this crowd sincerely (tears, nodding heads, etc.) accepted Christ and one lady thanked us over and over after.

I'm so thankful for my son and his boldness and willingness and perseverance and servant's heart.

Goodnight to you with love,
BJ's mom

I feel so inadequate to bring you words of encouragement so I turn to His

Love you and pray without ceasing for BJ's total and complete healing.

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation

....and Paul says in Romans.........
19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I
want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you and give you, Brent, Deanna,
Whitney and Lauren a peaceful and restful night sleep. I pray you awaken
refreshed and renewed in body and Spirit.
The Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth watch over BJ as he sleeps.
Oh Father might tomorrow be a remarkable day of healing and restoration as you
bring BJ back to Jesus Name....Amen

Excited about the great things God is doing in and through BJ and your family even as the world watches you sit in a hospital for the 39th day. I know that God is glorified. I lift you to the Lord! May day 40 bring amazing miracles that are beyond our imaginations. I know that God will move and use each of you, I can't wait to see how!

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. It brought back memories and feelings from when I went to Peru. The look in the people's eyes, the joy when someone accepted and seeing the immediate change in their faces... makes me want to go back even more. It also makes me extremely sad that I didn't go THIS year. But there is always a reason for everything, right?
I will be praying hard for BJ to continually get better. Love you all! Keep looking up even when things are going a little slow or when there is a setback. Have a restful night!

It is truly a privilege to share in this journey with all of you, in the good times and in the struggles. Thank you for opening your hearts with all of us and allowing us to be in communion with all of you as Christ's body.

May you have a restful night's sleep and praying that day 40 will bring some wonderful news!

Praying for bj and you and your family in CT. In the last month I have seen God work a miracle and showed to me that prayer works in my personal life. My grandfather who is 92 years old went through open heart surgery after much prayer and faith he is home and doing excellent. Drs say he is a miracle! Just hold on to your faith and the Lord will see you through. The Lord really shows himself true and faithful in ways we cannot understand at the moment.

Love those sats in the 90's! Go BJ!
Just learned today that my mother has advanced breast cancer and will be having a masectomy next Thursday. After finishing 156 days in the hospital with my micropreemie just last year, I can hardly imagine another difficult journey beginning again so soon. But, God is faithful and folks are praying for us, too. Isn't it amazing how the prayers of so many just basically carry you when things get rough? I can hardly imagine going through something like BJ, my micropreemie, and now my mother without having God in my heart and holding my hand. Stay strong, BJ's family. Though my heart is soooooooooooo heavy for my Mom and our family right now, you will stay on my prayer list, too! Hugs. Carol, Arlington TX

Praise the Lord for a quiet evening.
40 days,I'm reminded of 3 scriptures this evening.
Matthew 4: 1-11 Jesus was tempted, tested and tried for fourty days and fourty nights, and then angels came and ministered to Him. The other scripture is Joshua 6, The taking of the city of Jericho..... I know that this was for a period of 7 days, but it was a giant step in faith as attested in Hebrews 11:30.
Lord we come to you as the body of Christ and ask in faith that this sickness would leave BJ's body, that Your angels would come and minister to BJ as he recovers from his 40 days in wilderness.
Lord as in Hebrews 10:22-23 We all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absoloute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absoloute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty conscience and our bodies cleansed with water.
So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His Word.
Lord we know that You are faithful to Your Word, and we praise You for Your faithfulness when we are not. We ask that You would once more stretch out Your divine healing hand and once more touch and heal BJ's body to completion.
In Jesus name we pray
Amen and Amen

I was reading a devotional from Max Lucado and it was titled "My Struggles Are About Him" I would like to share a small portion of it with you all and hope that it encourages you to hold to your faith in our Lord and Savior and to continue to press on in prayer for our dear brother in Christ, BJ.

What about your struggles? Is there any chance, any possibility, that you have been selected to struggle for God's glory? Have you “been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him, but also to suffer for His sake” (Philippians 1:29)?
Are people strengthened by your struggles?
“Your hospital room is a showcase for your Maker. Your faith in the face of suffering cranks up the volume of God's song.”
God will use whatever he wants to display his glory. Heavens and
stars. History and nations. People and problems.
Through your problems and mine, may God be seen.

I read this several times and thought what an awesome testament BJ is to God's love, the Lord chose BJ for this struggle. And praise God, He (the Lord) is being glorified. I'm sure I can attest for just about everyone who comes to this site that we have been strengthened from BJ's struggles. Our faith has been challenged and cranked up as he so aptly put it and in doing so God has received all the glory.
Thank you BJ, for your faith and devotion to our Lord, thank you for your suffering, thank you that while you lay in a hospital bed our faith is stretched and increased and through your suffering many people have the opportunity to search their own faith and come clean so to speak with God, many will come to the Lord through your devotion, and above all the Lord is given all the glory. Thank you Higgin's family for allowing us to intrude into your life and share, support and pray with you, as you walk hand in hand with God. I do hope I haven't rambled on too long.
Praying in faith.

Thank you so much for sharing BJ's journal entry with us. I am so thankful for his tender spirit and sensitivity to God's leadership in his life. He is a young man after God's own heart.

May God's loving spirit give you all peace and rest tonight. May tomorrow, the 40th day, be the turning point out of the wilderness and into the path to complete healing and back to you his precious family. May it be the day God has chosen to "kick start" his kidneys and fill his lungs with His breath of life.

Thank you Father for what you are doing in and through Beej and may he soon be able to awaken and praise you through it all. Please continue to be with the medical team who have been so supportive of BJ and his family. Please bless each one of them in a special way.

Also Father, please be with Carol in Arlington, Texas. Father help her feel your presence as she is hurting for her mother. Lord be with her mother as she has surgery. Please be with her doctors that they will be able to remove all of the malignant tissue and have your wisdom in any further treatment that may be needed. Thank you in advance for what you are going to do.

Lord thank you for your love and all prayer warriors who are so faithful to pray for BJ and his family. Thank you for the privalege to be included in that number.

This song always fills me with hope!

"I will follow You through green pastures
And sing hallelujah to Your Name
I will follow You through dark disaster
And sing hallelujah through the pain

And even in the shadow of death
I will praise You
And even in the valley I will say

Holy, My God
You are worthy of all my praise
Holy, My God
You are worthy of all my praise

You are seated on your throne in heaven
And You see all of us down here
And You have promised You will not abandon
So I shall not fear

And even in the shadow of death
I will praise You
And even in the valley I will say

Holy, My God
You are worthy of all my praise
Holy, My God
You are worthy of all my praise

You made every star
And You taught it how to shine
You knew my name before there was time
And all this was just part of Your glorious design
Hallelujah, Hallelujah"
