Late tonight, BJ's blood gases continue to improve a little bit. We are very thankful for this. His SAT's are consistently in the upper 80's to low 90's.
He did start to run a fever, but we believe that is under control. It is very important he not come down with more infection or issues at this stage.

We know and appreciate the incredible prayer support you have offered up. We know there are many more of you who are not blogging, who are praying. This has been a most humbling experience in so many ways. The way God has moved in your hearts and not allowed BJ to leave your minds, and how He has kept you praying...unbelievable!
The medical technology which has supported and kept my son alive to this point...astounding!! The medical staff...Unequaled!!! Through the combination of these efforts which we know the Lord has orchestrated, and used, we are moved, appreciative, and eternally grateful.

Please know that regardless of the outcome, the Father has enriched our lives through you...

I live in WA and I got your prayer request through a Mercy Me email. I have been praying for BJ, and my husband is praying for BJ. He has been on my heart since I found out about BJ. Please know that BJ is being lifted up before the Father by so many people. God is a God of Miracles!!!!!! We will continue to pray for healing, and also for patience and endurance for your family. All Glory be to God. Lean on His understanding, not your own. This can be hard to do sometimes. BJ is loved by many who don't know even know him and who have not met him. But most of all, he is loved by Jesus, who knows BJ intimately. Father- please bring a miracle for BJ. Bring him a miraculous healing that will bring so much glory to you, Lord. Encourage BJ's family and hold them during this time. Provide Your wisdom for the doctors and nurses. Lord, give the family endurance and strength to go on each day.

Dear Lord,

Hey Family! I just wanted to let you guys know my heart is still overflowing with song and praise and prayer for BJ and to the Lord...Tonight at work, it was hard to stay focused but i got to share with a table about BJ. I found it interesting as i was singing while walking by another waitress, she goes, "No one likes happy people!" and i got to explain that i wasn't singing because i was happy but because the lord had placedpraise on my heart and i knew that was the only way to get through the night was to sing and praise my father for all he had already done! Praise the lord for his joy he has placed in me. Even though tears come from time to time...i am still looking forward to seeing him move! I love you all!

Dear Higgins family:
Please know that we have been praying for BJ and for each of you. Each day I check the site numerous times feeling like I'm on a roller coaster...can't even begin to know how each of you feel. As we've been sharing BJ's story (and website) with our church and Sunday School, a couple families commented on the relationship that all of you have together as well as with Christ. You've touched many lives that know you and many more that have only heard of your family.
Please know that we will continue to pray for BJ.
Our "Pray for BJ" shirts arrived today and we will wear them proudly.
We love you guys,

May God bless and keep the family in this time of hardship, may He lift up His countanance upon them and be gracious to them, may He make His face to shine upon them and give them peace. We are not forsaken in the midst of the trial, but held closer by the one who is named Emmanuel, God with us.

God will listen to our prayers no matter what time the day or night; and in our family, we are remembering yours.

One more thing before im off to bed. Body of Christ: what i find so encouraging right now is how we are standing strong on the promises of the Lord. Yes, its a rough time but we can not let satan get his foot in the door and try and get down down in our thinking. We are all aware of the seriousness of the situation but we have to hold strong to who our God is and what he can do, has done and will do! Rest in his arms tonight. Father God, i ask that you heal BJ. We need nothing short of a miracle according to the world..lord we know you are all we have to get us through and BJ through. Strengthen BJ's spirit. May he rest tonight well so his body can begin to heal in unthinkable ways. May we all proclaim you and worship you as boldly as each of us should. May we all experiance you in a way we never have before, tomorrow morning! Blessed be your name Jesus! Amen!

You guys have truly displayed God's splendor to the world...

Hi from San Diego! Walker called me this afternoon to update me on BJ since I do not have web access at home! I was in a Servant Evangelism class all day and out picking up trash in the neighborhood so I got the call and was able to tell the whole room of about 60 people about BJ. They are all praying! I am praying and crying out for you all and trusting in God's AMAZING plan for this young man! May I tell you - I have been in tears because I feel like this is my little brother (my little sister is 15, too). The Lord WILL be magnified and GLORIFIED through you all in this situation and I praise Him for you! I wish I could be there to just SERVE you ... wash your feet, get ya'll some coffee, take care of your house duties, and pray over you - Maybe some crazy day the Lord will bring us all together because of this ONE PURPOSE! PRAISE JESUS! I love you all and praying for you!

Dear Higgin's family, I personally feel priviledged to be able to pray for you and BJ. I thank God for the first email from MercyMe and I thank God that He burdened me with prayer for BJ. The Lord has truely changed my life through both BJ's and your example and I thank Him that we all belong to the one family, the body of Christ, drawn together for one purpose, to glorify the Lord, and through prayers and petitions on BJ's behalf that has been so obviously done.
Please know that I will continue to keep BJ and you, his family, in prayer, lifted up to our Father. My heart aches with you, please know that you are all loved and thought of and prayed for often in this home.
May God continue to give you the strength and grace for each moment, and my heart felt prayer is that He would heal BJ fully and completely.

Lord once more we lift this precious family to You and ask for Your divine healing hand to rest upon BJ, Lord that You would breath life into BJ, restore him Lord to the young man of God You purposed him to be. May Your light continue to shine forth from BJ, pointing the way to Jesus. Lord for the family comfort them and love them as only You can Lord. We cry out to You Lord as one voice, one body, and we wait expectantly for Your power and glory to fall.

In Jesus precious name we pray... Amen and Amen

BJ's Dad, don't give up! I live in Denton, TX and I am praying for your son; heard about him through Mercy Me sending out an email on BJ's behalf. I know this has been a very difficult time for your whole family; but, don't give up. Let the Lord move in this situation according to His will and to the glory of His Name. I want to thank you for sharing portions of your son's journal with us; it's obvious from the journal that BJ really loves Lord Jesus. Here is my prayer for you, your family, and especially BJ:

Father, in the Name of Jesus, Your only begotten Son, I lift up to you Brent Higgins, Jr. and ask that Your will be done. I stand in agreement with my brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord and it is our desire to see BJ healed and restored to good health here in this life; to see BJ grow into the man of God You have called him to become; to see him pursue You throughout his life here on earth as he glorifies Your Name by trusting and obeying You in all things. Father we trust You no matter what and we make our petition known to You even though You know our request before we utter it. Please heal BJ; please comfort his family and give them strength; please provide their every need during this time of suffering; please bring glory and honor to your name in everything that transpires from this moment on. We love you Lord, we trust you Lord, thank you for saving us Lord. May You be blessed by the prayers of all the saints everywhere who are remembering BJ and his family during this time of suffering. Come Holy Spirit, be welcome in our midst, minister the healing virtue of Jesus Christ to BJ. Inhabit our praises and draw us closer into ever deepening intimacy with You. We love You, Lord and I offer this prayer to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Lord has chosen this child to touch the lives of so many people in this world. Although at times it is heartbreaking for the family to go through the trials, the Lord will bless them abundantly for their faithfulness to him. Even though I have never met this family you have been an encouragement for me just to hear the trust and faith you have and how you continue to let the Lord's will be done. I pray that you all will have peace and understanding.

Precious family, you have all been in our prayers all day. I can't begin to imagine how hard this day has been for you. I just want to put my arms around you and hold you close. I am so thankful that you are already being held by our Father who loves you with an immeasureable love.

As I got my nails done today, all I could think of was, what would BJ say to Cindy if he were here? I discovered that she is Buddhist so I wondered, how would BJ share Christ with her? I began by sharing BJ's story with her. I don't know how much she understood, but the seed has been planted. Communication with Cindy is rather difficult because of the language barrier, but the Holy Spirit has no barriers. Thank you BJ for your example.

Almighty Father, please be with BJ and his family tonight and give them all your grace and your peace. Help them all to rest tonight as we stand in the gap and hold them up before you.

PLEASE, Lord, heal BJ's weak body and breathe your breath of life into him. Father I ask that you make his kidneys start to work, remove the excess fluids from his body, and prevent any infection from taking hold. Be with his lungs and help them to begin to work as you designed them to and prevent any bleeding problems. Please help the machines to do their jobs properly until his body is able to work on its own.

We thank you for the awesome medical staff who work so hard for his recovery. Please continue to give them your wisdom and grace.

Father please continue to give grace, peace and wisdom to Brent and Deanna in the days to come and as decisions need to be made. Help them to know your deep abiding love and continue to hold them close. May Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney rest in you tonight. Revive their souls, minds and bodies and give them your peace.

I ask all these things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in whom we all place our trust. May your name be glorified and praised.

With an humble heart full of Christ's love,
Lynn

Good morning Higgins family. I pray that there has been some rest for each of you in the night.

I wanted to tell you that HIS Voice Through Us sang at the Reardon in Anderson last night along with several other groups. Before the concert began they all gathered for prayer and lifted you and BJ before the Lord.

As the concert went on there were so many songs, their lyrics, that brought you all to the forefront of my mind, my heart...He is still Faithful, Somebody's Prayin, Triumpantly The Church will Rise, another I don't know the name but the verse was (something like) "when you're drowing and it's seems over your head, it must be under HIS FEET, TRUST HIM.

Then when the guys sang they had a chance once again to ask people to pray for BJ and sang in testimony for BJ.."I Love the Lord".

Just wanted you to know that BJ's medical journey is still being lifted up and that his spirtiual journey, his faith in God, his surrender to obedience is being voiced by others every chance they get. He's still in the mission field.

He's still witnessing for what we know, through your sharing of his journals, the thing closest to his heart...his love of the Lord.

Father, give them this day their daily bread. Amen.

Standing with you, before our Lord.

Debbie

I then began looking through the past few days so I could put together an update to tell our friends at church today to keep praying and that is when I began coming across the many that were so obedient to get up and pray through the night! Wow that is so awesome and again we echo the many prayers, we pray for healing today, for rest, and may God be glorified in all of it today.

Good moring to you all. We hope that you were able to get some rest last night. I just wanted to let you know that Matt will be leading Sunday School class this morning and he asked me to share with you that the time spent this morning will be in prayer as a class. Know that we are with you.

Last night was a night where i would wake up and be praying for BJ. First thing on my mind always. Lord i ask for healing today, praising you for another day we all have made it. May we lift up our hands and hearts to you today so that through you we may continue to fight this battle for our brother. Give us energy and strength to fight for him and his family! We are not leaving anyone behind! Praise you Jesus!

Praise God for all he has done through your son and through your family! May he bless your family for your faithfulness and continue to work in your lives. Our 12th grade home group bible study will be meeting Sun. night. We will all be praying for BJ and that, God willing, he be healed soon. May God remain with you through these hard times.

Many of our modern drugs have harsh side-affects and cost the “earth”, so the next time you come down with a cold or the flu or stress statistics, why not try a gentle alternative that costs next to nothing?

Instead of immediately forking over large amounts of money for over-the-counter drugs, go to the kitchen cupboard and see what you can find to relieve your symptoms including stress statistics.

Here are some helpful hints for stress statistics …

A simple hot compress applied to the face is very soothing to those throbbing aches and pains of a blocked sinus, while a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief can provide welcome relief for similar conditions. While supplements of vitamin C, D and zinc will shorten the lifespan of a common cold, a hot lemon drink is also extremely good. And be sure to cuddle-up in bed when you have a cold, as it will make the body sweat out the germs.

Cool lemon juice and honey are a great soother for a sore throat and gives the body much-needed vitamin C at the same time The juice of one lemon in a glass of water is sufficient. Melt the honey in a little hot water for ease of mixing.

A smear of Vaseline or petroleum jelly will do wonders for those sore lips and nose that often accompany a cold.

A 'streaming cold' where the nose and eyes water profusely, can respond to drinking onion water. Simply dip a slice of onion into a glass of hot water for two seconds, then sip the cooled water throughout the day. Half an onion on the bedside table also alleviates cold symptoms because its odor is inhaled while you sleep.

People prone to catarrh may find that chewing the buds from a pine or larch throughout the day will clear up their condition in just a few days.

Do you suffer from sore eyes? If your eyes are sore from lengthy exposure to the sun, try beating the white of an egg and then spread it over a cloth and bandage the eyes with it. Leave the preparation on overnight. Soft cheese (quark) is also a good remedy for this condition.

For those unpleasant times when you suffer from diarrhea, two tablespoons of brown vinegar will usually fix the problem. Vinegar can be rather horrible to take, but who cares! The problem is more horrible. Vinegar can usually be found in most people's cupboards, so you don't need to worry about finding someone to run to the shop for you in an emergency.

Sleepless? Instead of reaching for sleeping pills, which can quickly become addictive, try this: Drink only caffeine free tea or coffee starting late in the afternoon.. Go to bed earlier rather than later, as being overtired tends to keep people awake. Make sure the bedroom is dark and quiet. Use only pure wool or cotton sheets and blankets. Polyester materials can cause sweat and make you thirsty (if your child constantly asks for water throughout the night, this could be the reason).

And don't watch those scary movies just before retiring! If you still can't sleep, make a tea of lemongrass or drink a nightcap of herbal tea containing chamomile. It's easy to grow lemongrass in your garden or start a flower pot on the balcony for ease of picking. Simply steep a handful in boiling water for five minutes. Honey may be added for a sweetener.

Of course there will be times when you do need modern drugs, so if these simple remedies don't have the required affect, be sure to see a health care professional.
