Late last night and this morning, 2 different doctors have given us a little room to believe that BJ's improvements, though small, are a good sign. I believe sometimes I struggle to understand exactly what the doctors mean, and try to read between the lines. Misinterpretation can follow.

I was wrong about his fever being under control. He has had one of 100+ overnight and this morning. However, Dr.'s are believing that it is all part of the response to the wound cleaning procedure. They have both remarked about how well he tolerated that procedure, and with little to no drug assistance. Praise Jesus for His intervention in this, as this was unexpected, and part of the reason they once again began to prepare us for his passing (this is their job, and I'm glad they have it and not me!).

We continue not to know what the Lord has in store for BJ, but rest assured we believe He is ministering to us through you, the hospital staff, His Word, and through His Holy Spirit. We thank you so much that the Gap is FULL of the Body of Christ!!!

Beej's 10am blood gases were better, and he his holding on well as his ventilator pressure is turned down. Keep bombarding the throne about infection or other potential issues, please.

Father, as a family, we lift a chorus of Praise to and through Your Holy Name! Jesus, we love You...You are amazing!!! Truly we are "Held" in this journey.

I am writing for all the people who are out here, checking daily, hourly, etc for updates on BJ. We are praying for you, the family, the drs, the nurses, and of course for BJ. We may not blog every day and in fact may be afraid to blog, but know that many of us are out here and are in prayer. We may only know one member of your family distantly, or through a friend, but we are praying. We may have seen a t-shirt and not know anyone involved, but we are praying. It is our priveledge to lift you up to our Lord and savior.

It's times like these that we as parents struggle with our children being attacked so feverishly by illness turn to our worldly self wanting to know why our child? I am touched by the strength and reliance in our Heavenly Father you have held steadfastly to during this chapter of your lives.

I've been in less traumatic chapters of my own life, and have turned to Heaven and yelled WHY??? I fully believe that God is indeed ministering through BJ and will continue to do so for far longer than we may ever know.

I never really met BJ, though my two daughters are friends with either him or one of your daughters. Speaking with both of them about BJ, they both tell me he is an amazingly bright and gifted young man. It is obvious he is truly someone who has touched many lives just through reading the comments here.

Please know that you all have made me take a closer look at my own walk with Christ and I must say it is not a pleasant view. I pray for BJ's continued improvement and strength for your family, as I also pray for my walk with Christ. I thank YOU fo your ministering to me and any others who may be struggling as well.

In addition, I sent a link to this site out to my friends a while back. One of them told me yesterday that she had heard about you all as a prayer request in her church in Greensburg before she even got the link! The way God's connecting so many people together is amazing.

Still praying,

Father, our faith is being tested. Let us be careful not to assume the outcome of this situation. Let us leave it all in Your most capable hands. Father God, I believe that You will provide healing for BJ! Let us not be afraid to still believe in Your miraculous healing!! When the doctors start preparing us for the worst, let us believe in You for the best! Things look grim right now for BJ. But, that is only in the earthly realm. You have control, Lord! Strengthen our faith and help us to believe! I claim Your victory over BJ's body in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Lord, I say a special prayer for BJ's family - that they will have renewed faith and courage. Help them to put BJ in Your hands, completely. And, help them to know, without a shadow of a doubt, that You are working a miracle in BJ's body, even as they read this. Father, I praise You and thank You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

God is still working!! Don't give up on Him now!! Bless you all as you go through this extra difficult time.

MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST...
by Oswald Chambers
Sept.25
"Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two" (Matthew 5:41)
Our Lord's teaching can be summed up in this: the relationship that He demands for us is an impossible one unless He has done a super-natural work in us. Jesus Christ demands that His disciple does not allow even the slightest trace of resentment in his heart when faced with tyranny and injustice. No amount of enthusiasm will ever stand up to the strain that Jesus Christ will put upon His servant. Only one thing will bear the strain, and that is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ Himself-a relationship that has been examined, purified, and tested until only one purpose remains and I can truly say "I am here for God to send me where He will." Everything else may become blurred, but this relationship with Jesus Christ must never be.
The sermon on the Mount is not some unattainable goal; it is a statement of what will happen in me when Jesus Christ has changed my nature by putting His own nature in me. Jesus christ is the only one who can fulfill the Sermon on the Mount.
If we are to be disciples of Jesus, we must be made disciples supernaturally. And as long as we consciously maintain the determined purpose to be His disciples, we can be sure that we are not disciples. Jesus says, "You did not choose Me, but I Chose you..." (John 15:16). That is the way the grace of God begins. It is a constraint we can never escape; we can disobey it, but we can never start it or produce it ourselves. We are drawn to God by a work of His supernatural grace, and we can never trace back to find where the work began. Our Lord's making of a disciple is supernatural. He does not build on any natural capacity of ours at all. God does not ask us to do the things that are naturally easy for us- He only asks us to do the things that we are perfectly fit to do through His grace, and that is where the cross we ust bear will always come.

Continually praying on bended knee for God's faithful servant B.J. May God be glorified in Him.

Brent, Deanna, Lauren & Whitney, My body may have been present at Northside this morning but my heart and Spirit was with you. I know the doctors have to prepare you for what may happen but can't help but continue to believe God for a miracle as long as there is breath in BJ. Your family is such an inspiration. I feel so inadequate to say the right things to encourage you. The comfort I can offer is that as perhaps no other time in your lives I believe God the Father is watching over you so very closely though His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. BJ is very dear to the Father and regardless of what happens BJ holds a special place in His Kingdom. Wish I was there just to hug on you and not say a word. Many times a hug can say more than words can express. So I'm sending you a hug with the deepest love I have in my being. I will not cease to pray for you and BJ and claim complete and total victory over satan. I love you........Phil

Hey Higgins,
Pink seemed to flood the sanctuary this morning at FBC, Mooresville. Larrys sermon was especially good this morning. It was a first person account of the leper. Made me think what we are praying for here. Jesus touched the leper and he was healed, we ask God to place the same touch on BJ. although not physical, that is exactly what we are doing. Just some of the thoughts that roll into my head. I will pray that BJ will improve, and that the days to come will be ones of hope and healing. Prayin' in pink.

I would have never dreamed of a 15 year old wanting to go out and teach the word of Jesus Christ. I wish to be just like you and want to go out and teach his word to. I have a very big family and I love to talk. I would love some tips on how to share the word. I figured you could give me some or someone in your family. I just want you to know my church is praying for you and you are in our thoughts.( I go to Indian Springs Baptist in Bryant,AR.) I love you and you are in my thoughts and prayers!!! :)

Dear Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney,
It was so good to go to church today and have so many people asking how BJ was doing. I gladly gave them the website to check it out. We are continuing to pray down here in Santa Claus for BJ and for all of you. May our God continue to give you strength for today, encouragement through many people and a peace for your hearts.
I awoke several times last night and prayed for BJ. May God work a mighty miracle today. I want to hear that BJ's kidneys have kicked in and the temperature has gone down, and the infection has been IDENTIFIED TO BE TREATED! Keep on keeping on and know that you are loved and admired by so many for your love of Christ.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh how I am praying! I woke up sick this morning at about 1am, which led me to pray for BJ like none other! I missed church because I was too sick and that just kept me home and praying for ya'll to endure this trial! I was reading that book by MercyMe (I Can Only Imagine) this afternoon and as tears rolled for my Gramma, even more rolled for our PRECIOUS LORD that someday we will be in His presence to look in His face - see the scars in His hands and the wound in His side! In case you are wondering - I think I'd stand SO in AWE of Jesus while I danced before our King! But who knows ... I just want to PRAISE HIM! I want to encourage you by telling you that I have fallen more in Love with Jesus DAILY through sharing this experience with you... to God be ALL the Glory!

Lord bless you always,
