Body of Christ,

Deanna and I, as well as our girls are overwhelmed and blessed at your prayer support!!! Thanks so much for this. Thank you Bart for fighting along side us!

We have reason to Praise our Lord tonight! After undergoing 2 more procedures today...one to replace his breathing tube, and one to drain fluid from his abdomen, BJ's oxygen saturation (the primary indicator of how all combined elements are working to get oxygen into his blood) levels have climbed into the 90's!!! His Doctors told us we would not see this until his lungs were clearing. While there is no evidence yet of clear lungs, we believe the Father has blessed him through the support of all your prayers...a sweet incense rising to heaven. Thank you Lord Jesus! Thank you believers! Your unity has to be blessing our Father in heaven.

We know there will be many more obstacles to come, but we are encouraged tonight, and claiming victory, in Jesus Name!!!!

You have blessed us deeply.

Hi, I'm from Singapore (a tiny island country in South East Asia). I am on MercyMe's mailing list and got an Urgent Prayer reqeust from Bart.

A good friend of mine (who live in the States) just returned from a Peru Mission trip recently ... I wonder if BJ was 1 of those who was there together with my friend as well. Hence when I read Bart's note, I felt I had to pray along for BJ.

I will pray for BJ miraculous healing! By the stripes of Jesus, who took on all our infirmities, BJ will be healed!

BJ, fight a good fight! Don't let up!

Love from afar, Singapore.

Brent, Deanna, & girls,
It is great to hear the news. Hasn't it been amazing the response of everyone around the nation & world? My girls are really learning the power of prayer through this experience. BJ has been a huge inspiration to all of us, young and old. He has a maturity beyond his years. You both should be very proud of him. We will keep praying for a full recovery, no more setbacks or complications. God is working a miracle for us. We are very thankful. Please let me know if you need anything.

I've known BJ for a few years now and have actually only met him in person once. We started talking online by way of a mutual friend. I prayed for him before and through Peru and I'm praying for him still.

Dear Family in Christ,
I have heard news from Bart about Bj. I am in continuous prayer for Bj and your family. I have a good friend going through a sickness as serious as this. I just encourage you to continually seek God through this. It must be so incredibly hard to go through this, espeacially went to serve God in Peru. Bless you Bj for your service to God. I understand what it is like to get sick after going to a foreign place. I got sick after I got back from Africa, God healed me and I believe God will heal your body. Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper and to grow you, plans to give you a future and a hope." This was and is God's will for your life right now! I again will continue to pray for you!

Hey!
I have been blessed to have gone to Peru these past two summers with BJ. He is an incredible man of God and I know God is at work in him right now. I have been praying for BJ, you (his family), and for guidance on behalf of the doctors and nurses since I found out he was sick.

"How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails." -- Ps. 111:2-3

We may not understand God's ways, but that does not make His ways any less perfect. Continue to trust in Him as you have been. I see amazing faith and love for the Lord in this family. BJ is truly blessed.

Hello and blessings to the Higgins family!

This is the first night I've been aware of your son's condition. As I read I get a lump in my throat--I'm so sorry for what you're going through except that God will use it for His glory!

We have a little friend Emily who was on the Ecmo machine one December, with various infections including pneumonia and mono following a kidney transplant--had some close calls, but she came through astonishingly well, gradually. I don't mean to assure artificial hope but sometimes it's encouraging to hear of similar situations with good outcome. Within a few days of her coming off of the machine they had her going through physical therapy at home--on a bicycle somehow! Again, not to give you false hope, but it is amazing what God can do.

They were attending a different church, and we had been relaying the prayer requests through our church--it was amazing how every time they met someone from our church by many "coincidences," those various church friends they met knew Emily via prayer. They had been keeping her in prayer all that month, keeping up on posts. I'm sure it was a great encouragement and testimony to their family.

I'm glad that you have people the world over who are moved to prayer for your son. Maybe someday you'll find that so many people you meet will already know your son BJ this way, too. We will definitely be praying for you and for his quick thorough recovery! And that God is glorified through it all.

In Christ, the Abbotts

I am encouraged to hear that the procedures yesterday went well. You all are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Yesterday I called Katya again in Russia to encourage her in the wake of her father's death a week and a half ago. We talked for a while and then I interrupted the conversation to warn her that my time was running out on my calling card. She immediately said, "Tell me how BJ is doing." I gave a brief update. She then urged me, "Be sure to give my love to Brent and Deanna and the girls and let them know that I am praying for them and BJ here in Vladimir, Russia." You remember her beautiful prayer in Russian for all the Higgins family when she visited your house on July 4th. Well, that prayer is continuing as she lifts you all to the Lord and asks others in her home group and in the Christian Evangelical Wesleyan Church of Vladimir to pray as well.

I will see you all tonight when Lisa and I come down to pick up Ethel.

Until then, my love and prayers are with you,

Becky

My prayers will be with each of you as you walk through this valley. God does not make mistakes and I know that He will be glorified through this.
Without the valleys the mountain top would not feel like such a blessing!!
BJ - I will be praying an extra special prayer not only for your healing but for your encouragement!!
I understand how you must feel... I almost died when I was 15 yrs old; I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and I was told that I should have died 3 days before I went in.
The Lord carried me through and I am just as healthy now as I was before I got sick!! Our God is an Almighty God and He will carry you through this rough time!!

My Love and Prayers will be with you Always,

BJ,

We heard about you from a scrapbooker on twopeasinabucket.com. My son, Sammy, is a frequent visitor to St. Vincent Children's Hospital, and he knows many of your doctors. My Sammy is two years old, and just like you, he's a servant of the Lord.

Almost one year ago, Sammy was in the St. V's PICU, and no one thought that he would survive. He surprised EVERYONE, and you will too.

All of the PICU doctors are very good doctors, and they care very deeply about each one of their patients. It may be scary for you right now, but you are in good hands.

May the Lord strengthen you and hold you in the shelter of His wing. May your family feel the peace and comfort of knowing the the Lord is in COMPLETE control.

We will keep you in our prayers for a complete and miraculous recovery.

Morning Jesus,

I have some friends
That need Your help,
Their son and brother's real sick.
I'm sure that you've heard
Many prayers for him
We're counting on you for the fix.

BJ has yielded
His life up for you,
In return, he's asked for naught,
With a broken spirit,
And a contrite heart
Your will with great zeal he has sought.

This side of heaven
We struggle to see
Why such trials befall one like him.
We're reminded of Job
At the end of the day,
How Your blessings overflowed to the brim.

As soveriegn God
You choose his fate,
Romans tells us it's all for good.
We ask in our flesh
And selfishness,
Please spare him for us if You would.

There are so many things
That BJ can do,
To spread the good news of Your Name.
Deliver him now
From this awful disease,
You know he'll bring You all the fame.

Just one more thing,
I ask of you, Lord.
Mom, Dad and the girls need you, too.
They've spent so much strength
In a draining place,
Help them to draw what they need right from You.

Help them to feel
Your presence so near,
And help us to know what to say,
To calm their fears,
Their worries soothe,
All this in Your Sweet Name I pray.

Amen
