This morning BJ's oxygen level dropped from the 80s to the low 60s. His breathing tube was leaking, so this morning an ear/nose/throat specialist performed surgery on BJ to fix it. The surgery went smoothly, and his oxygen levels are up to the low 70s. The doctors have also added a tube into his abdomen to relieve the pressure that has been building up there. We pray that these measures will increase his oxygen level once more.
A few minor things- BJ is developing bed sores, as he's now been in the hospital in the same position for 9 days. His bottom lip is also swelling profusely. Though these concerns are not critical in the scope of everything, we appreciate your prayers over the little things as well.
Just to clear up the zodiac sign that was on BJ's profile- that was an automatic function of this blog which we did not arrange. We have since learned how to correct it, and now it is gone. :)
To those wishing to donate blood in BJ's name- THANK YOU! We are trying to find out from the staff here what we have to do in order to make this process work, so we will keep you posted.
I and my family continue to be touched and speechless by the vast amount of prayers going up for BJ all over the world. Praise God for the unity of His children, to Him be the glory in this and ALL things!!!

My heart goes out to you all. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you all. Every time I look at Devin, I think of BJ and how you must be feeling. He’s been getting more “extra” hugs than he would like lately. God is good and I know you are in his hands as is BJ. We have many out here in southern California praying for BJ, and for all of you also. It's been amazing to see how often, unprompted, Marla's girls and Devin have been praying for him. I pray for God's strength, encouragement and peace as you walk through this with BJ.
I'm so glad we had the opportunity to spend some time with BJ last summer. What an amazing man of God. His faith is an inspiration to us all. While he's run a good race, and certainly deserves the prize, I don't think his work is done yet. It seems like every setback is followed by a move forward. Whatever God has planned for BJ, I have complete faith that it will be good. BJ, when you read this, thank you for your example.
I was reading through the posts here from all over the country and the world, and was moved to tears. It's overwhelming to see so many come together in prayer. I just kept thinking that I couldn't wait until BJ could read them. What an amazing God, that even as BJ is lying immobilized in a hospital bed, he's being used to bring God glory. It's a good reminder that it's not what we do, but what God does through us.

I prayed the instant I heard about it, friends and loved ones in my circle of concerns and pray chains are calling out to Jesus to bring healing and wellness to BJ. I included him in all my prayer lists, we will continue to include him in our daily prayers until he is healed and is sent home safe and well. The Lord hears those who speak to Him. We sing out to you with tears in our eyes that this young man will be healed.

hey i just wanted to say that the frizzell family and green pond baptist church youth group are praying for you. i think that missions are awsome and i would love to go on one with some one who believes in God like BJ.
Please know you are in my family's prayers. My daughter, Ashley, knows B.J. from the '04 Peru trip, so we feel close to your situation. My son, Nathan, gives blood on a regular basis, so we will be watching for news on how we might be able to contribute blood to B.J.'s account.
We will especially be praying right now for B.J.'s sores to heal, for the swelling to go down in his lips and for continued wisdom beyond human capacity for the doctors to be able to properly care for B.J. We are also praying for an extra measure of strength and grace for your family.

I am an ICU nurse and learned of BJ from a mercy me e-mail. As I was reading through the updates GOD said to me "remember all the people you have taken care of and thought that they would not get better? Remember all the miracles you have seen?" I wanted to share with you that YES, I have seen medical miracles and have been a part of them. Also, it is a miracle to have your loved one BJ bring the body of Christ together in this venue.
