Good afternoon!

Hello students in Denison, Tx...thank you for your prayer support and desire to see BJ improve! We trust that you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you do not, please leave me a blog, and I will tell you how to know Him!

My heart is full today as you all continue to pour out your love and support to us...especially for Beej! He was successfully turned to his stomach, without issue (he is connected to so many iv lines that it can be a challenge). His numbers remain stable. I positioned my i-pod next to him (Thanks so much Jim, and Church at BattleCreek) and played his favorite music for just him. How interesting to watch his blood pressure come down as it appears he is more relaxed!

Our Lord has blessed us with peace for each moment, and surrounded us with "such a great cloud of witnesses"... you, the body of Christ. We are Thankful for how He is providing for us, and ministering to us. Know that we read your blogs, and are very moved by them! It has been such a welcome relief to find refuge in such a place, in such a time as this. Thank you so much!

Mary in Seaport, Tx...thank you! You don't know how much that means to us...now leave before Rita gets there...we are praying for you and others in her path!!!

Deepest appreciation,

BJ's dad

Who would have thought that one person getting so sick would turn out to be such a great ministry to so, so many people! It has been such a blessing to me personally to read of all the people across the world praying for BJ, and the BJ's words you have posted. Thank you so much Higgins family for sharing this trying time with us. We are keeping our prayers going for BJ and your family. Your family is so special. I went to Northside, and loved it when Deanna would sing, such a beautiful voice, and watching Brent watching his wife with such a smile on his face, was wonderful!

Bj's family, You all have been in my thoughts and prayers for weeks now. My son has been with Awestar to Peru many times and met your son last summer. I pray that God will hold you in his arms and comfort and strenghthen you all. I pray God will heal BJ and he will continue to be used of God. He sounds like an awesome young man.
May God give you grace for each moment as you walk this road. In Christ's love.

Dear Higgins Family,

As I check this website daily I continue to be encouraged by BJ's progress, and the power that prayer has over the lives of God's people. Tonight I will begin a new journey in my relationship with Jesus; starting an Alpha course here in Toronto. I will ask those in attendance to pray for BJ and your family. As a former police officer I have seen many of life's struggles and challenges. I pray and encourage you to hold each other close and love one another in word and deed. Beyond prayer, these are the things which help to get you through each day.

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with BJ, your family and those around you who minister BJ's illness.

Hello Deanna!
I have thought about each of you today, as I have gone from job to job, office to office, etc. I continue to pray for each of you and the Doctors and Nurses. We miss you all, very much and can't wait for the day we are all able to worship together, again.
My girls continue to keep each of you in their daily prayers. We lift you all up to the Lord to receive his grace.

I'm praying for BJ continually, but I wanted to say thank you to your family for the continual joy you demonstrate. A lot of people get confused with the differences between happiness and joy. Happiness is what leaves when life gets tough, while joy is what makes you praise God when the happiness leaves. Thanks for demonstrating that joy to so many people, including myself. We're spreading the word about BJ - and Christ!

Praise the Lord for stable numbers! It is such a privilege to be a part of the "cloud of witnesses". Thank you for allowing us to be a part and to be blessed by praying for BJ and the family and watch as the body of Christ responds in prayer and encouraging words. And then to watch as God continues to answer those prayers. We will continue to pray for BJ's healing knowing that God is in control.

Brent,

I just put a post on my blog that's critical of iPods, this is a disclaimer: my gripe is with their indiscriminate, constant use--not ministry situations like this!

I am continuing to pray....

**********

Hebrews 12:7-11

7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!
10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.
11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

My daughter has the link to "pray for BJ" in her IM away message. Out of curiosity, I clicked onto the site a few days ago. You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since. The term "pray for BJ" pops into my head off & on during the day, and I do just that. I also give thanks to your wonderful support system of loving friends, who must be feeding the pets, watering the plants picking up the mail and all the other mundane things we do everyday. Praying for BJ!!!!!!!

Dear Higgins family,
I read about your son in the Baptist Messenger,in Oklahoma City.
Walker Moore writes a weekly artical in the Messenger and shared B.J. story.
I am the mother of two young boys. My heart feels your pain. I will remember B.J. in my prayers as I am sure many other Oklahoma Baptist will.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I am still prayerfully reading through BJ's last journal entry before he got sick. The implications of living/dying for Christ is such a challenging spiritual journey to be on! What a privilage to be able to live and die for Christ, considering what he did and still does for us. I'm so glad we have a Savior who understands the suffering we go through on this earth b/c He was willing to expeience it for us. How beautiful to know that through His stripes we are healed and that He is with BJ as BJ fellowships with Our Savior in His sufferings. I'm so glad that Jesus is continually talking to His Daddy for BJ and your family as you face this time.

Praying You Through,
Lynne in Gray, Ga. P.S. glad for the quiet day in room 2001

Hi family,
I must tell you how proud I am of you, your faith and determination. I know you know I have been in a place where holding on to hope seems beyond your capabilities, but with HIS help you do it, grow through it and see HIS will unfolding in a way that only a trial can show you. I marvel still at how HE works in us. Even though I have been through a different trial, I still question HIM. Isn't that the way children are - always questioning? I know HE has a purpose in it: some we can see right now, others we may not know until we stand before HIM. Continue in all you have learned and be blessed. You are a blessing to others!

Our choir is singing a song called "Even In the Valley"
Here are the words:

High upon this mountain the sun is shining bright, my heart is filled with gladness here above the cares of life. But I've just come through the valley of trouble, fear and pain. It was there I came to know my God enough to stand and say,

"Even in the valley, God is good. Even in the valley He is faithful and true. He carries His children through, like He said He would. Even in the valley, God is good."

The road of life has led you to a valley of defeat, you wonder if the Father has heard your desp'rate plea. But there is hope in that rugged place where tears of sorrow dwell. Can't you hear Him gently whispering, "I'm here and all is well"?

"Even in the valley, God is good. Even in the valley He is faithful and true. He carries His children through, like He said He would. Even in the valley, God is good."

I think of my sorrows, then I think of yours. I know God is at work in us to will and to do His good pleasure. I know He will work it all out for our good. Waiting is one of the hardest parts. I hope that I am not a poor comforter like Job's friends were. I love you and am proud to be your sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. Your faith is inspiring and I just wanted you to know it.

lol,
Shari

Brent, Deanna and family,
How we can rejoice and praise our Lord for the wonderful things he provides. My faith is strengthened with each of your postings. We are so thankful each day for the little Miracles that He provides you with BJ. Our prayers continue for his healing and strength for you and wisdom for his caretakers. What a blessing they are to BJ and to you.
Jesus, our Good Shepherd, takes care of us all in our darkest days and fills them with hope and love. May you feel His loving arms around you all.

Here we are praying for still more people facing storms as BJ's personal storm continues. Thankfully, the winds in room 2001 seem to have reduced at least a bit--although their predictability may match that of the various hurricanes!

Precious family, know that we are not letting up on our prayers regardless of peaceful or stormy days. God has been reminding me today to pray that you will remain close to Him and to one another through this time. So many areas of your lives (schedules--sleep--work--school--meals--ETC.!) must be so different right now, and I know that in the flesh you must be so very tired. We are praying for continued peace, joy and all the other fruit of the Spirit as you STAND strong through all the "tweaking,"

in Him,

Wow. I get encouraged just reading these wonderful notes to you. I'm sure it must give you a little boost every time you read the comments.

Your family encourages us to forget our tiny battles and "keep the Main Thing the main thing."

Many blessings to you.

Dear Beej -

You must be a huge threat to Satan for such an attack! The Lord is with you, though! Don't allow discouragement in! Fight this! We are praying and agreeing for your healing! This is a defining moment for you. Keep strong! Sincerely, Nicole San Diego
