BJ's Sat's continue to be in the 80's to low 90's. His heart rate and blood pressure are stable. His blood is not perfusing or circulating throughout his body as well as it should, so his hands are a bit cool. Interestingly his feet, which you would think would be colder because of the damage to 2 major veins from the canulas, are warm. Oh well, like that is the first confusing thing that has occurred.

Those of you who ordered shirts...they went out "priority mail" this afternoon. There are still plenty available if you are interested. You can access them by clicking on the "prayforbj.com" t-shirts button to the right of this update.

I want to share from BJ's journal a passage from when he was still in Texas, before he left for Peru. Awestar trains the missionaries using terminology like "willing witness," "seeking soul," and "divine encounter." These words mean what they imply and need little explanation, but I wanted you to understand why he was using such terms.

"When Jesus met the woman at the well, He hadn't gone there to preach, but because He was weary. She had been placed there at the same time because of her social circumstances. Jesus merely asked for water, but being a "willing witness" He knew how to seek out an opportunity to share the truth. Then, though they hadn't planned it, they stayed an extra 2 days to minister to the people.

"You would ask...I would give" If we ask, Jesus is faithful to give, if we ask it in His will.

"You must be... so tell me." She had a chip on her shoulder and seemed unresponsive, but Jesus always knows what to say.

"Should we worship here or there?" Much like churches today that are preoccupied with small issues when the real [issue] is just to worship God (praise or hymn).

Nourishment comes from doing God's work. - Matthew 4:4, Deut. 8:3

The harvest for God's kingdom is ripe all around us if we could just learn to see it. "Four months until summer" [from his own journal implying how much time until he can minister], why wait until a mission trip or reaching a certain area when there's ministry to be done everywhere.

[BJ's closing prayer] Father I just want to praise You for Your depth and Your power and authority and Your love and worthiness. I thank You for allowing me the opportunity to come on this trip and serve and to just learn about You and seek Your face. I'm overwhelmed by Your depth, but You give me strength and take me deeper.

I pray now for focus on You in the following days and that You would help me to apply what I learn.

Oh what petty things we tend to complain about and debate, when the real issue is reaching the lost and seeing them be discipled.

Thank you for your continued prayer support! Our God is AWESOME!!!

Wow! I can see God working in BJ and I can see how God has already show BJ His word. BJ is so awesome and in depth about his faith it makes me want to meet him someday even more. What an awesome guy! I think it is a great idea to wear a prayforbj.com t-shirt on October 1st-I just ordered one! I can't wait for people to ask about my t-shirt and be able to lead them towards Jesus! I continue to pray for everyone!
Lots of love,

Hey Higgins,
Its been a few days since ive been able to look at the Website. Mom has been keeping me posted. I thought I would share this with you. Today, I had a four hour study hall and was around a lot of people I wouldn't normally see or talk to during the day. One girl who hadnt talked to me in a while asked who BJ was. She opened up to me when I told her the story. She told me of a similar situation with someone( she wouldn't tell me who) and said she hasnt been able to talk about it but she told me. This allowed me to minister to her and share the love, power, and hope of Jesus Christ to her. God works in wondrous ways. Your strength through all this has astounded a lot of people that I have shared it to. I will pray tonight that BJ will continue to recover and for your continued strength. Still prayin' in pink.

In Christ,
Ben Hackler

We ordered Sammy a youth-small shirt, and we are looking forward to him wearing it. Sammy has a special friend (Rachel) who is getting admitted to St. V's Children's Hospital tonight, but we're not certain if she will be in the PICU or not. Dr. Belcher is her doctor. If we come to visit Rachel, we will keep an eye out for your family.

It is so interesting that you are paying close attention to BJ's hands and feet. When Sammy's temperature is normal, his feet are always very warm; however, when he has a high temp, his feet get ice-cold. We can tell when the fever is coming down because his feet start to warm up again. When he is sick and feverish, the blood tends to go where it is needed most--the organs. When Sam's feet are cold, we are worried; when his feet are warm, we feel like we can relax a little bit. Warm hands and feet are good things. We're also glad to hear that BJ has had a little bit of therapy with a physical therapist. The road to rehabilitation may be long, but it's not impossible.

Continuing to lift all of you up in prayer each and every day.

Leslie Harley

MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE

Master of the Universe,
who reigned before anything was created.
When all was made by his will
He was acknowledged as King.

And when all shall end
He still all alone shall reign.
He was, He is,
and He shall be in glory.

And He is one, and there's no other, to compare or join Him.
Without beginning, without end
and to Him belongs diminion and power.

And He is my G-d, my living G-d.
to Him I flee in time of grief,
and He is my miracle and my refuge,
who answers the day I shall call.

To Him I commin my spirit,
in the time of sleep and awakening,
even if my spirit leaves,
G-d is with me, I shall not fear.

I am currently in the hospital with my 14 year old daughter with chronic pancreatitis. This week will make 83 days this year. We are able to witness to others. We know that God is with us and with BJ. Do not be discouraged.

In a book we have recently read, it states that God has blessings in store for us for enduring a tribulation. We are chosen to go thru these times, to witness, and to rely upon Him, all in order for Him to bless us even more.

In Christ,
