BJ is having a good day, up to this point. We praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this. His oxygenation numbers remain strong though they continue to reduce the ventilator settings...below 62% right now. Pray that BJ's body continues to work in harmony with the many machines, medical staff, and prayers of His children.

So many of you have provided your prayer support, and we implore you not to relent. He has a long way to go, so please do not let good news allow you to let up. Please continue to feel free to leave us your encouraging messages. We are reading them to BJ, and letting him know how many are praying.

Before this hospitalization, BJ was studying John 17...Christs prayer for believers, and specifically the unity of believers. His request before sedation was that we would get the word out, and that people would pray. I believe the Fathers heart has been blessed by how many of you are coming together in Jesus name, and lifting up my son!

Thank you so much!

A special thanks to Jeff Cross and Danny DiSalvo for helping us with this technology!

Serving the King beside you,

BJ's dad

Brent, Deanna, everyone at BJ's side and daily feeling the ups and downs of this battle,

We're not giving up! Hundreds of people are praying with you, and Jesus Christ himself intercedes on your behalf. I praise God that even though you have to endure this very difficult time, God has used even it to unify all of us with one heart to cry out for BJ. It pleases Him so much to us loving one another and seeking Him together.

May the Father sustain you with all that you need, and keep you confident of His goodness and faithfulness. May everyone's hearts be softened to see the Father's hand in this, and His great mercy and love, so that praise and thanks will overflow to Him. Your son has been a blessing to us. May you all be blessed beyond what you can imagine.

"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

If my days were untroubled and my heart always light,
Would I seek that fair land where there is no night?
If I never grew weary with the weight of my load;
Would I search for God's peace at the end of the road?
If I never knew sickness and never felt pain,
Would I search for a hand to help and sustain?
If I walked without sorry and lived without loss,
Would my soul seek sweet solace at the foot of the cross?
If all I desired was mine day by day,
Would I kneel before God and earnestly pray?
If God sent no winter to freeze me with fear,
Would I yearn for the warmth of spring every year?
I ask myslef these and the answer is plain:
If my life were pleasure and I never knew pain
I'd seek God less often and need Him much less
For God's sought more often in times of distress
And no one knows God or sees Him as plain
As those who have met Him on the pathway of pain.

Brent, Deanna, & girls,
Thank you for sharing on this website. It helps give us a sense of what is going on up there and satisfies my nurse's curiosity. We are still praying as hard as we were last week and we will not let up until BJ is back playing guitar in the praise band. God can do miraculous things, nothing is impossible. Please remember to take care of yourselves, get the rest you need. You will have a long road ahead as BJ recovers. Again, please do not hesitate to call if you need anything at all.
We will always be here for you.
Love, Nancy, Scott & the girls.

Hello Higgins family,
You have all been on our hearts since we first heard of BJ. You know it wasn't all that long ago that I was in ICU being treated for Septic Shock and ARDS. I was also in a chemically enduced coma for almost 2 weeks so we know at least in part what you may be going through. I know with a child though it is so very, very difficult. Of course your faith is carrying you through and giving you strength but I know how very heavy your heart must be. Please hear these words from Yahweh through Paul in 2 cor. 12.

7To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I know beyond a doubt that when you look back on this time you will
see the mighty Hand of God upon your whole family. I wish I could be there with you just to hug on you. Manytimes a hug says it all. Even though we see very little of one another we feel a special bond with your call to the ministry as a family. Please, if there is anything at I can do for you call me. I am still recovering from my spinal fusion but am there for you if you need me. Please sense the Love of God and His healing touch be upon BJ this very moment. He is approaching the boat, Higgins family. Just take His hand and step out of the boat...He will calm your storm !! Of that I am convinced. We Love you!! The Ackermans-----Maranatha !!!!

Hey BJ! Glad to know that you are doing a little better, but I am praying for you! I just thought I would let you know that one of my school assignments (summer homework that I didn't know about) is to read a lot of the bible. I'm really hoping that as I do my assignment that God will speak to me and that I'll get back up that ladder and out of this hole I'm in. I think that since there is so much that I have to read that I'll get back into the habit of reading everyday! Who knows. Pray for me though.
I am so glad I found this site so I can know how you are doing and how to pray for you and your family. Just remember that tons of people are praying for you. :) I hope you get better soon! I can't wait to talk to you!

I just wanted to say that Im keeping BJ and you all in my prayers. Knowing you and your son has been an amazing blessing in my life, exspecially in the past few years, so stay strong cuz God is so amazing and everything will work out for His plan. (Ecc. 3:11 -- God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's works from beginning to end.) so ya, its all in God's hands.

I really don't know what words I can say.

I'll just share a story perhaps.

BJ gave me the nickname "Jacktopher" (like Christopher, but with Jack) and everyone adopted it and most people use that name for me. Obviously that is just a light side of his sense of humor. I may share more stories of his fun side if you would like!

Praise God, really.

Praying and seeking,
Jack

I am a friend of Vickie Covelli's and she shared all that BJ and all of you are going through. I am so sorry you are all having to endure such an emotional roller coaster with the uncertainty that comes with his situation. Please know you are all in my prayers and I shared it with our church prayer chain as well. I will continue to pray for those that are caring for BJ and for all of you that you may feel the comforting, loving arms of our wonderful Lord wrapped around you...because they are. Blessings to you all.

BJ,
I know you will probably get a chuckle out of this. Bruce has been petitioning the Lord for healing to take place in your body, not just because you are such an awesome young man, but because he wants the opportunity to get to know you better.

We both pray for you constantly. You are such an inspiration to us and we continue to ask God to use this situation to glorify Him. We know that even though you are very ill, you are touching people's lives for God and we know how important that is to you.

Lauren, thank you for taking the time and effort to set up this blog site and to so eloquently share with the world your family's story and struggles. We pray that the Lord comforts you the way you are comforting all of us with your words.

Whitney, hang in there. We know this is a tough time for you too. Starting college is a lot to handle all on its own, but you have BJ's situation on top of that. We pray for your continued strength.

Brent and Deanna, we miss you guys and pray for you continually to receive God's comfort and strength that you need. You mean so much to us and our hearts' ache for you. You are a very special family and are an inspiration to all who cross your path. And you have been wonderful friends to us. We have longed to come and just give you a big hug. So consider yourself hugged!

We love you and continue to pray for your entire family.
