Hello family,

BJ's kidneys are doing okay enough that they've taken him off of the meds, but he is still on the kidney machine to rid his blood of toxins. This evening they were still having trouble with his high blood pressure, so the doctors have given him more medication to lower it, which seems to be working. It's a constant balancing act to add and take away medication, with all the many meds and machines he's on. Earlier tonight, his oxygen level had dropped to the mid 70s, but it is now around 81%.

I cannot tell you all enough how much of a blessing your support has been. The sheer magnitude of the response we have recieved on this site just within 24 hours of its commencement, not to mention the many, many more prayer warriors out there who have been and continue praying, have been tremendously humbling to me - an act of God at which my family marvels. I am grateful to be a part of something so glorifying to God, and I pray that this unity helps us learn to better pull together as believers for the cause of Christ.

I love you all,
Lauren (BJ's oldest sister)

"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God."

B.J. and Family,
Add Virginia to the list of states where believers are praying for you. Jesus is faithful--to His word, where He promised to never leave us nor forsake us---and to His followers. Your witness to others is giving Jesus the glory He asked the Father for in John 17. Thank you for sharing B.J.'s (and your) progress with us all.

BJ, Brent, Deanna & Girls,
Know that we are in constant prayer for you. My parents' church in Santa Claus, IN is praying for BJ as well. It amazes me to see God's power through prayer & how BJ is being an AMAZING testimony for Christ right now. I pray that God multiplies the few hours of sleep you are all getting and that He will renew your strength. We love you all, and pray for BJ's body to heal. Thank you for the updates.

Add Missouri to your list of states as well. I am a fan of Mercy Me and got a prayer request from Bart. I do not know BJ, but a good friend of mine went to Taiwan this summer as part of Team Expansion, so I do know a little about the fears of our children being in another country. I also know how proud I was of the work my friend was doing in Taiwan serving our Lord -- as I am sure you feel about BJ. Your family is in my prayers.

Brent, Deanna and girls,
Jes has been keeping us informed and we keep our church informed of BJ's condition. We are praying for all of you. God is so good and His love and mercy so powerful. Just know that we continually lift all of you up in prayer. We pray that you will be given much strength for your own bodies. Take care and the this website is so wonderful. I will share it with our church family tonight at Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Santa Claus. Jes can tell you I am a walking miracle today so believe God is still in the business!

Dear B.J. and Family,

I recently saw the power of God's grace in a 15 year old girl who was first misdiagnosed and later found to have Non-Hotchkins Lymphoma. After one year of intense therapy and even more intense prayer in our community, she was given the "all clear".
What power lies in His hands.

Please, keep strong in your trust in our Lord and never stray from His presence. Remember, the ways of the Lord are more powerful when we are weakest and truly ask for His mercy.

May God bless you and keep you strong!

"The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The lord turn his face toward you and give you peace" ~Numbers 6:24-26

~In Christ alone~
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
THis is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till he returns of calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

May you find truth in these words.
Love in Christ,
Kate Nizienski

I saw Bart's email. Add Ohio praying for you, BJ. I'm a native Hoosier who battled Hodgkins at 17. Almost 30 years later the view is much different than when I was in the midst of trouble. Jesus was there with me the whole time. It only seemed like He as MIA when I took my eyes off of Him. I'll just share the lyric from mercyme's song, Where You Lead Me.

What is life?
A thousand roads, a thousand ways
Why am I so afraid to move
I crossed the line
I'm stepping out so come what may
I give it all cause I'm drawn to You

As long as my heart is beating...
Where You lead me I will follow
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day
Forever and a day

I can't deny Your very presence is my life
And why would I ever turn away
Cause deep inside I know that I cannot rely
On anything less than faith

As long as my heart is beating...
Where You lead me I will follow
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day

This is all I'm dreaming of
To live completely in Your love

So this is life

Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day

Where You lead me I will follow
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day
Forever and a day

Brent, It was so good to renew our fellowship yesterday. I was encouraged in my devotions today as I read something by Spurgeon and I thought I would share it with you and your family.

"The breaker is come up before them."
Micah 2:13
Inasmuch as Jesus has gone before us, things remain not as they would have been had He never passed that way. He has conquered every foe that obstructed the way. Cheer up now thou faint-hearted warrior. Not only has Christ travelled the road, but He has slain thine enemies. Dost thou dread sin? He has nailed it to His cross. Dost thou fear death? He has been the death of Death. Art thou afraid of hell? He has barred it against the advent of any of His children; they shall never see the gulf of perdition. Whatever foes may be before the Christian, they are all overcome. There are lions, but their teeth are broken; there are serpents, but their fangs are extracted; there are rivers, but they are bridged or fordable; there are flames, but we wear that matchless garment which renders us invulnerable to fire. The sword that has been forged against us is already blunted; the instruments of war which the enemy is preparing have already lost their point. God has taken away in the person of Christ all the power that anything can have to hurt us. Well then, the army may safely march on, and you may go joyously along your journey, for all your enemies are conquered beforehand. What shall you do but march on to take the prey? They are beaten, they are vanquished; all you have to do is to divide the spoil. You shall, it is true, often engage in combat; but your fight shall be with a vanquished foe. His head is broken; he may attempt to injure you, but his strength shall not be sufficient for his malicious design. Your victory shall be easy, and your treasure shall be beyond all count.

"Proclaim aloud the Saviour's fame,
Who bears the Breaker's wond'rous name;
Sweet name; and it becomes him well,
Who breaks down earth, sin, death, and hell."

Our love and prayers are for you all.

Psalm 119

Higgins Family,
Today is the first day that I have heard of BJ and his condition and I want to assure you that I and my family will keep BJ in our daily thoughts and prayers.

Today is the one year anniversary since my sister passed away from a very rare disease so I can truly understand where you are today. My family and I were also in the "Private Waiting" area and it was the constant prayers from family and friends that got us through our very difficult time.

May you take comfort in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior and know that he is with BJ and your entire family and will continually give you the strength to face any situation as long as your eyes are on Him.
In Christian Love,

Count Michigan in on the prayers being lifted up for BJ!!!
I am reminded of the scene in Chronicles where the King of Assyria rails about his power (just like the voice of disease) and his record of destruction but King Hezekiah encourages his people by reminding them...Do not be afraid of the King of Assyria or the vast Army he has with him. He serves only the arm of the flesh BUT we serve the God of the heavens.....
Disease is the arm of the flesh but, REJOICE, we serve the God of the heavens. May BJ's recovery be complete so that his testimony rings throughout our land and brings our people back home.

My prayer for BJ and family:

Gracious Heavenly Father, I join my prayers with others who are interceeding for BJ. Strengthen BJ's body to fight this illness, give wisdom, insight and compassion to health care workers who care for him, grant faith to BJ and the rest of his family as they entrust him to your care. Let the support of friends and fellow Christians be palpable to them, lifting them on eagles wings when human strength fails. I ask this for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Dear Higgins family,

What an overwhelming response from the church! Isn't it amazing how God has woven people around the world into the body of Christ? I feel so privileged to know you personally and to have shared in the same local body of believers we call Northside Baptist. We have known your family since BJ was about 4 or 5 years old. Bob and I taught Children's Church back when he was in elementary school. Even then, you could see the hand of God was on him - he stood out. When he returned from Peru last year and preached to the church (when he was supposed to just be giving us a report of his trip), we all knew God had a special calling on his life. It won't end with this episode. God is using BJ's light and testimony even while he lays unconscious. Look at the outpouring of prayer on his behalf! Our family continues to pray for his complete healing.

Remember how Jacob wrestled with God and walked with a limp afterward? BJ may have a few reminders of this spiritual battle hanging around for a while. May we always look at him as a man touched by God. BJ has been set aside for something very special.

Thank you all for your amazing testimony. You are an incredible family because you yield to an indescribable Savior.

Giving Him the glory,

-Barbara Cross

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney and BJ:
Greetings from Huntington Beach, CA. While we were vacationing last week in Alaska, Michelle Kennedy told us of BJ's condition. We will continue to pray for all of you for strength, patience and for BJ's recovery. God is so good and continues to do amazing things and we are eager for His miracle in BJ's life as well.

We have so many great memories of our years in Indiana. Deanna--I would love to hear you sing again. Lauren always was so sweet and kind and I remember the time Whitney came running through our door to show us the yearbook that had to be "re-done" because they misspelled her first name! I had the pleasure of babysitting BJ so you can imagine my surprise when I saw his picture on this site---he's grown! Your family was so kind to allow us to join you guys for "Friday Pizza Nights". We will always cherish our memories there and the great friends that we made.

May God truly use this as a testimony for Him and your family. Thanks for your encouraging words and sharing such personal information with all of us.

Love,
Joel, Christal, Ryan & Arin Mearig

The Walters family has issued the resounding need of prayer, and so many of our families and friends all over the State of Indiana are answering the call! We cannot begin to understand the pain and fear that Brent, Deann and their families are going through, but we do understand the power of Jesus Christ, and we stand firm on His promise to be with us always. Brent, Jan misses you at camp, and I miss your efforts at keeping him in line!! We are here for you; you are in our thoughts, always!!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Good afternoon from Shawnee, Oklahoma, I too received an email from Bart. As I've been reading the posts and praying in the Spirit the Lord keeps reminding me of the scripture in Matthew 18: 19-20.Amplified. Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever (anything and everything) they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.
For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. With this He gave me a vision of ALL those who are praying for you BJ, and wow what an awesome sight that was. My gosh we serve an awesome God, He knew the impact this would have on fellow believers and the world. I believe in my heart and my spirit that you will be a walking testamony to God's love, grace and His supernatural healing powers.
May He continue to be your constance source of strength, your ever present friend, and your first love.
You are in my prayers.

In His Love
Linda Ronne (mum of 4)

Hi guys...what an amazing site...for our amazing BJ!
I feel so proud that he lives his life to bring God so much glory. So many people touched by God thru him. It's crazy to see the blogs of people all over the country...world! I saw that BJ like 1 Peter...so i was reading it this morning... here's some nifty words...
"Stay wide awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless--cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God's words; if help, let it be God's hearty help. That way, God's bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he'll get all the credit as the ONE mighty in everything---encores to the end of time. OH, YES!
Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, WITH GLORY JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!! "
4:7-13
Sounds like this is how God' body has been working...together now!
I can't wait till Bj finds out about what God has been up to...how God has used him... he will just be thrilled silly!
I love you all...and wish I was there!!!
hugs...Marla & gang
PS... Bj.. Aunt Maralyn and Uncle Ray send their love...they are so very proud of you!!!

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, 'You are my servant';
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11 "All who rage against you
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.

12 Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.

13 For I am the LORD, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.

14 Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob,
O little Israel,
for I myself will help you," declares the LORD,
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel

Isaiah 43
Israel's Only Savior
1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

3 For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush [a] and Seba in your stead

So my friends take courage and trust in the Holy Word of God. He promises us that HE will cause ALL things to work together for good for THOSE who are called by His name and according to His purpose.
Do you feel His Holy Presence??? He will sustain you and make you Whole !!

BJ,
You are such an amazing man of God! It has been such a blessing being able to serve with you and hear about what God has done in your life over the past year since you first went to Peru. BJ know that I have gathered people together to lift you and your family up in prayer. You are always being thought about. Know that God works for the good, I pray that he is even more glorified through this hard time! We love you

Dear "Baby Lornen" and family
Thanks for giving us updates and the ability to pray for you all at this time. Your family has always been very special to my family and we wish there was more that we could offer than our love and prayers. Whatever the outcome for BJ, God is in control of it all. BJ is even now doing what he felt call to do and that is be a missionary by reaching near and far and bringing fellow believers together in prayer. God Bless You.
