Good Morning! BJ had a quiet uneventful night. His Sat's are in the low 90's this morning. He will be turned to his tummy again today. There has been very little change. We want and hope to bring news of change and good reports but stable just has to be enough, and that is okay. Oh how we want him to be better, and to talk to him. He has layed flat in bed for a long time now. When he is responsive, it happens once every 3 or 4 days, and lasts about 15 to 30 seconds. Even then he can only communicate with an attempted eye movement or on rare occasion a head nod. These moments bring us hope, but at the same time an intense yearning to be able to hold him, love him, and allow him to talk for long stretches as he is prone to doing. He has so much to say. I remember at different times asking him for the short version of what he was sharing. He'd reply, "This is the short version." That is our BJ. A heart welling over with desires to share...and we are so thankful for him!

Thanks for the update this morning Brent! Glad to hear that things were stable through the night.

Dear Lord,
I continue to pray for BJ's healing, rest and peace for the family, and wisdom and understanding for the medical staff. I pray these things in the name of your Holy and Mighty Son Jesus! Amen.

Father God we pray yet another day for you to work in BJ's life to bring healing and total restoration. Thank you for the doctors and nurses you have assembled. Give them wisdom to be able to diagnose the infection and in so doing we pray BJ's kidneys come back to life. We also pray all his vital signs stablize. Reduce the swelling that is causing pressure in his body. Give BJ tghe continued strength he needs to continue the fight. While he sleeps whisper words of assurance to him. Carress him as only you can. Might he sense the love of the hundreds of us who are praying for him 24/7. Thank you fo how you are sustaining, Deanna, Brent, Lauren and Whitney. Father I pray you hear and answer the prayer of his parents heart. We embrace them in our love and prayers and ask for a day of healing and encouragement in Jesus name....Amen......Phil

How convicting. I also have a son who gives me the "long version" more often than not. I AM thankful (most of the time) but impatient too often as well--guess Andrew's stories will be yet another prompter to PRAY FOR BJ!

Thank you, Lord, for quiet nights. Please keep BJ's stats stable and improve them more and more. Boring is definitely good, but we'd love to know that some celebrating was happening in room 2001. . .that BJ was awake and talking and smiling and reading all those cards that are coming his way. . .and seeing the miracles that You continue doing in his life. We trust You for the timing, Lord, and we thank you again for your lovingkindness and grace that surrounds this precious family,

in Jesus' name,

You all are in our thoughts and prayers often as we go through our (home) school day, as I'm sure there are many other families doing, as well. Oh, how often we wish we could step in and DO something to make things better, easier, whatever. At those times, we often resort to begging our Lord on your behalf. Emotional? Yeah, we tend to be here in the House of Estrogen...But, God is patient. He is faithful. His nature is to be merciful, always much more than we deserve.

We are inspired daily by your family. God is so very pleased with you all. His mercies will rain down on you still.

I wish I were wise to give you even more wisdom, but I can only ask the Father to grant you that. I guess that's as it should be. It's hard to tell you the same thing over and over....I suppose it makes it sound less sincere, but know that it's not.

Every time one of the faithful writes you an encouragement, they are feeling that same outpouring of emotion, wanting to relieve your frustration, weariness, etc., personally. What a blessing to have so many care, REALLY CARE, about you. God is so personal!

May He meet your TODAY needs today.

We love you guys,
Jamie

Good morning,

I'm so glad that BJ is stable this morning. It's a blessing to have some down times in the midst of all of the crisis'. I know that there is still so much regarding his health that we still need to be in constant prayer about and of course we are. These updates are such a blessing as they continue to tell us what specific areas to pray for. And though it is difficult, slow and steady wins the race.

"Having done all stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench ALL the fiery darts of th wicked, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with perseverance..."
Ephesians 6:13-18

We love you all and continue to pray with all prayer and supplication. He will come out of this for I know our God must have some awesome plans for BJ. Look at the glory he has already brought to his Savior. He has an awesome testimony now, the one he will have in the future will turn many hearts to the Lord.

In Christ

Good morning to all of you...It is such a blessing to continue to wake each morning and read the updates on BJ and hear the faith and committment in each of you to see God's will done in his life as your ultimate goal. I truly believe that MANY will be reached for the Lord through your shining example in such difficult, trying time in your lives. And yes I to complain about such trivial things and then view your circumstance and say shame on me and Praise God for those willing to share thier lives as such an open book to help me see the blessings that God supplies each and every day that I sometimes overlook in the haste of living life. Thanks and God bless you all!!!

Praise God for the stable night. I loved that last journal entry and your memories of BJ. He is precious, and its amazing how we can all be taught so much by him even in his time of sleeping. Thank You, Father, for revealing Yourself so deeply to BJ, and allowing us to share in that and learn as well.

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney, press on! You are surrounded by a host of witnesses praying for you. Keep your eyes on the Prize so that to live or die, Christ is why.

A TE Szent nevedben. Ámen. (Zsolt. 103:1-3)

Dear Lord,
I don't know BJ personally, but reading about him and the heart you placed in him I praise you and ask you to heal him. I believe that this sickness has a purpose, though we may not yet know what it is. Please display your power and unmeasurable love on BJ by allowing him to serve you among his family and friends. In YOUR Holy name. Amen

(Psalms 103:1-3)

Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases...

How cool that someone else mentioned 1 Thes. 5:17 since that was the key verse in the women's Bible study last night at CWC! The speaker reminded us that if we are praying continually, as we're called to do, every breath in can be followed by a prayer out! How awesome would it be to be that close to God?!

Maybe that's what BJ's experiencing right now--no distractions, no interruptions, just BJ and God in the conversation of a lifetime! (Wow! I don't know where THAT came from! Pretty cool idea though, and wouldn't it be just like God?)

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I WILL NOT let CWC forget to pray!

Still praying....

Patience is something we all could use some more of but like someone else said, I think we need to pray to persevere. Even an uneventful night is good news, at least there were no emergencies to contend with during the night. We praise God for that! BJ is such a fighter and it's evidenced by his strong witnessing for the Lord. May he continue to improve each new day. God hears our prayers and we are thankful for the answers we have received so far for BJ. May the answers keep coming as we wait patiently for our Lord to do His mighty work! Dear Higgins family,
I can not begin to imagine what it must be like to watch your son and brother lay there and feel unable to do anything personally for him. I want you all to know that we continue to stand with you and continue to seek God's full healing touch on BJ. I personally have been touched when you share some of BJ's writing in his journal. I join with you in praising God for the daily miracles you are witnessing and for the ability that God has granted you to see the evidences of His maginificent grace and glory. I also want to testify to the amazing witness you and your family are being to the larger body of Christ and to those unbelievers who may be coming in contact with you about the sustaining power that faith in God brings when truobles come. Keep trusting in God and claim the promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

So thankful for an uneventful night. I, too, have experienced the long talks or rather the long "listening" times. After I would put Laura to bed, I would go by her room and find her lying in bed, holding her feet up, moving them and talking as if they were talking to each other.
Get the picture? Now, I haven't noticed her doing this for some time now, at least not when she is home from college! "Just come in for a minute, mom," would lead to an hour to hour and a half later! I know she will read this! Now everybody knows!
That was very precious what you shared. I know your hearts, ears and arms long to do what you most want to do. I will make sure and put that as part of my prayer for you all. Thank you so much for the reminder to take the time to listen.

We continue to pray and lift you up before our Almighty God and Father.

Love you all very much,
Brenda F.

Hello to my family in Christ Jesus! Greetings from San Diego, CA!!! I pray this message comes to you as a blessing as I have been BLESSED by your updates on BJ, especially his journal entries. I bought a shirt today and I come to you with a question? I am volunteering at a Christian Rock Festival in October called ROCK THE PARK (by the creators of Spirit West Coast). This festival will have at least 6-8,000 kids in BJ's peer group in attendance. Well, I bought a shirt today to not only support ya'll, but in hopes that I could wear it at the festival and have people ask me about BJ. I happen to believe that I may be able to get BJ's story on the Main Stage before the P.O.D. concert to tell other kids BJ's age about the TRUE PASSION one Indiana boy has for Jesus Christ and share BJ's testimony to inspire other kids to not only PRAY FOR BJ, but to live a life that is SOULED OUT for our Savior! I pray this comes as a blessing and not a hinderance, but I would like to know if you would allow me to pursue this possibility? If not, I will wear BJ's shirt (the black one ;) with pride and faithfully tell the BODY about my little Brother in Christ who so fearlessly loves the Lord! I want to do all that I can to help - God will use our greatest pain for His GREATEST GLORY and I believe He is calling you all to that life of FAITH! I love you and am praying for you that your Son has so clearly set the example for!!! Know that the Vine Church in Encinitas, CA are all praying for you! Brent and Deanna -
Our hearts ache with you at the loss of B.J. We have prayed, along with our Bible study group, over these past weeks for God's healing. Our prayers now become ones of celebration for B.J.'s short, but unbelievably affective, life as he lived his life as a complete testimony of who Jesus Christ is. We thank God for each of you and the parenting and mentoring you gave him. We remember B.J. as an infant before we moved from Indianapolis in August, 1990. Our prayers will continue to be with you and your family. We feel honored to have been able to pray with you and all of B.J.'s friends over these past weeks.
