As I write, the medical team is assembling to completely replace the Ecmo circuit BJ is hooked up to. They are hoping this will reduce bleeding (which remains unchanged). All except the canulas or tubes in and out of his body will be changed. Tests reveal a staph infection has now set into his blood.

Please pray that the antibiotics will kill the infection. Please pray that the changed circuit will eliminate bleeding issues. Please pray BJ stays strong during this procedure...it will be hard on him. Please pray that the staph infection does not attach to the canulas in his body as replacing these isn't currently considered an option.

Father, please deliver Bj from the valley of the shadow...You are a great and mighty God, and greatly to be praised!

The Lord says in Ps 91:16- "With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation"

Praise Him as He reveals His glory!

BJ's dad

I know your hearts are hurting and I wish I could help with the pain. BJ is wiser than I could ever hope to be. His love and understanding of Gods Word is amazing. I know BJ's hearts desire is for God's will. So all I know to do is pray, pray and pray some more.

I am praying that God's will be done, and that we can accept God's will without faltering in faith; no matter what His plans for BJ's and our future may hold. We know that God is able, and hears our prayers.

Dear Higgins Family,

Debbie and I are on vacation in Maine but have had numerous friends in Indy call us with regarding BJ'progress and updates. We've also been able to get online and keep up with what's going on. I can't help but remember that small sheperd boy (BJ) at my side many years ago during the Indiana Christmas Pagaent when I sang "Watch The Lamb". We continue to hold BJ in our prayer and are praying for the family too. We love all of you and know that God is in control

God Bless,
Tommy & Debbie Linder

I ran into one of BJ's friends on campus today and I asked her what her shirt meant. She told me BJ's story and I said that I would check out the site. Having read about what's going on, I must say that I too will be praying for his health and for the family's continued strength and courage during this time.

Brent, Deanna & girls,

I pray for BJ's body to have the strength to fight longer and for the doctors and nurses and lab techs to gain the wisdom to know what to do for BJ. I also pray for your physical and mental strength to stay strong and well yourselves.

We pray God for you to be with this whole medical team right this minute and for the duration of this procedure. Give them wisdom and guide their hands and every decisions they make. God pour out your comforting hands and embrace this family as they wait to see you be glorified in the healing of their son and brother. God we beg you to protect BJ from further infection and God we ask you to miraculously heal his body of the staph infection and stop the bleeding. God thank you in advance for what you have and ARE going to do in this young man's life and God we thank you for the way so many lives have been touched already through his life.

A quick translation of Tito's message--

"I am Tito Sevilla from Peru. My family, my church, and many Peruvian brothers who worked with BJ are constantly praying for his health. We have to trust in and depend on our All Powerful Lord. I believe that God is preparing something incredible for all of our lives using BJ. God is the worker of miracles and He wants to perform miracles in BJ--in his family, his church, and in the whole world. Brothers, I encourage you to continue strongly in your faith: 'Don't tell God how big the sickness is, tell the sickness how big your God is.' We send greetings from Peru for you all, as well as our cares for my brother and good friend BJ."

I saw it, and thought that the least I could do would be to translate it for you. May God bless you and yours!

My prayers are with you. He must understand that God has decided that he is strong enough to bear something like this to show the rest of us what life is about and put perspective on life. I will hold his story with me forever. You're all in my prayers.

BJ and I were on the same Peru team 2004. He touched my life then and I know that God is using him even now. I, as well as numerous others, are praying for God's will; not only in BJ's life but the Higgins family and the medical personnel caring for BJ. Please remember that Our Heavenly Father is the Ultimate Physician and is holding BJ in His arms, close to His heart.
Abba, let Your name AGAIN be glorified through BJ's life. Keep his family and all of His friends strong in Your grace. Thank you for the hearts that You have allowed BJ to touch in the past, now, and in the days to come. We love You and praise You . . . Higgins Family, keep the faith. We as the body of Christ are praying as one. Dios Te Bendiga.

Dear Higgins Family

We are praying for you in Lufkin, TX. My family and I went through this a few years ago with a child in our church - He worked miracles in this little boy's life and I know that He will do in the same in BJ's life.

"Surely He has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smittem by God, and afflicted.
Be He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace
was upon Him,
and by His stripes
WE ARE HEALED!" Isaiah 53:4-5

BJ, I want to express my pain for you as your going through this, like Paul sais, When one part of the body suffers, they all suffer. But I also want to encourage you by saying that The enemy is scared of you! Your going through this spiritual warfare because they are trying to stop you at all costs, they know you will do great things for the Kingdom of God, And their TERRIFIED! I want to show you somthing I read last night, Psalms 41:11-12, "I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever." That spoke to me on so many levels, epecially the last part, "Set me in your presence forever" So because of your attitude of integrity in spite of what's happening, your more in more in his presence, his AWE.
Praying for you brother.

In Christ, Peter (PJ)

Dear Higgins Family,
Thank you so much for your strength in continually keeping us updated on BJ's condition. Even now as I read the other prayers lifted up and comments left by our brothers and sisters in Christ, I praise God that even in BJ's illness, He is at work... bringing His children all around the world in prayer for one of His precious sons. I pray that you would find strength and comfort in knowing that these prayers will not fade away... we love BJ and pray for His healing fervently.
In Jesus love,

I arrived home a little while ago and checked for an update almost immediately. I cannot tell you how sorry I was to hear about the staph infection. I was praying for BJ and all of you on the drive to Kentucky, and those prayers continue even more fervently in the wake of this additional news. I hurt with you. May God sustain and strengthen each one of you and reach down His healing hand to touch BJ's body.
