BJ is on his back again, swelling looks a little better. They gave him an ultrasound to check out his abdomen and an xray to make sure his bones aren't infected. He still has a high white blood cell count, though it has come down significantly since that first week. He is still very sick, but his numbers remain stable, and they are watching him closely. So, we continue to wait.

Father, our son is in Your strong, yet gentle and capable hands. There is no safer place for him to be! Please continue to sustain us and renew our hope. Fill our anxious thoughts with peace that only You can give. Our cry is for You to restore his health and bring his stats up as the ventilator settings are turned down. Let his bodily functions work the way You designed them to. Bring him back to us Jesus and help us as we wait. Our prayer is for healing as You will it.

That prayer is the cry of my heart! Y'all have been on my mind non-stop today. Everywhere I look I'm reminded of BJ in some way. He's definately covered in prayer. I can't wait to get my "prayforbj" tshirt so I can wear it and tell others what it means.
Always praying,

We love you loads!

Brent and Deanna,

I don't write in very often, but I check this blog just about every day, if not more than once a day. Please know that BJ and your family is constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I will continue to pray for BJ's healing and for the Lord to blanket you with peace and comfort during this time.

That is soo amazing that through everything for the most part bj's numbers stay consistant, that really shows the effects of prayer and that God's hand is on bj! Continuing to pray!

Amen to your prayer Deanna.

To the Lord we cry and are delivered. In Him we trust and are never dissapointed. Psalm 22

We wait and pray with you, anxious to see the Lord's will worked out, trusting that it will be good and that He will carry us through it.

This morning during my quiet time I found myself thinking of BJ as I so often do... and my cry out to God, instead of being "Why BJ?" suddenly became "Why not me?!" ...... How I wish my faith in Christ was so grounded that I could go through something of this caliber! Something along those lines....

"It is true that Jesus Christ is with us through our temptations [strugglings in BJ's case!], but are we going on with Him through His temptations [strugglings]?" -Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

Thank you BJ for encouraging me in my walk with Christ!! How I long for your faith! How I long to have the faith to get past MY struggles to the point of reaching His! You have forever changed my life!

Hello. My name is Bonnie and I am 16 years old. I live in Florida and I found this website through the Mercy Me website this afternoon. I just wanted to let you know that you all inspire me. I am in awe of BJ's faith and trust in the Lord, and I strive to be someone that has that much faith for the Lord. I will be praying for your son, and for your family through these tough times.

God Bless,
Bonnie G.

My name's Taylor and I'm from Oklahoma. I heard about BJ through my youth pastor's daughter. She went to Peru with him this summer, and asked that we would pray for him. I am in awe of how, through everything your family's been through, that you are still glorifying God for the positive things. Our Youth group's praying for you, and we will continue to do so. Your family has certainly been an inspiration to so many people through this horrible time.
God Bless,
Taylor

We continue to pray and pray. . .and thank you, Brent, for addressing the "GO" issue! I have seen the awesome work God did in and through my daughters' lives because of their obedience to follow Him. We have wanted to encourage the rest of our children toward active participation in misssions if at all possible--and we can't say enough good things about Awe Star! However, my son (just turned 14) is asthmatic. After all that's happened to BJ, I began to wonder if we needed to rethink. . .duh! Thanks for reminding me of what's truly important, Brent. Certainly God cares even more about my Andrew (and your BJ) than his parents do. . .and I'm sure He can help us make wise, right, and obedient decisions. The reality is that there are some mission trips that won't be appropriate for Andrew and others, but there are others that will. Having faith is NOT being foolhardy (as in not having a doctor check him over or not taking his asthma medications), but it is trusting that God is a very big God!

We all want to see that rain, Lord, but we trust your timing. Please encourage BJ's family in special ways as they wait. Strengthen all of them during this journey, God, and reward their faithfulness moment by moment. Amen.

love in Christ,

Pieper family

Deanna.....I was ttrying to visualize our great God healing BJ and what came to mind was the Miracle scene from the Pageant. I think back so those years Deanna when you would sing.."There is Strength in the Name of the Lord." and then Jesus would heal the numerous people brought to His attention. Then at the very end of the scene Jesus would bring the little girl back to life. Even though I couldn't always see you during that number I could always hear your beautiful yet gentle voice. Little did you know that today you would be bringing your child to the Master for healing. You and Brent have always been such vivid examples to so many of us of gentle yet steadfast followers of Christ. I pray as your mind takes you back to the Pageant and to the healing power of our Lord, that you Brent, Lauren and Whitney will draw strength from the TRUTH of that scene. I ask along with your prayer that if it be His will that as you and Brent bring BJ craddled in your arms to the Master, that HE supernaturally would restore BJ completely, lacking in nothing. I pray not only is he restored but his life be forever annointed to reach the multitudes with the saving knowledge of Christ. Deanna and Brent please forgive me if I tend to run on but I believe with all my heart that BJ is not where he is by accident. This is all part of God's divine plan. I am humbled & priviledged to share with this online family something only our God can do. I believe I speak for everyone when I claim the blood of Jesus Christ touch and Heal your son and our brother BJ. Not just I, but collectively, We ask BELIEVING !! Thank you, Yahshua, for what you are about to do in BJ's life so that YOU may be glorified. We Love you
Phil

I wanted to let you know that I am praying for B.J., your family, all the doctors and nurses and everyone that is in contact with your family either through the postings or visiting. The website address was given at Gabrielle Wilds CarePage. Gabrielle had a similar case, though she was never on ECMO. So many prayer warriors helped Gabrielle and her family make it through. Gabrielle's mother asked that the prayer warriors pray B.J. back to health, just as they did Gabrielle. I pray that God's Glory is shown every day! My daughter's youth group was just talking about tough questions last night. One girl asked "Why do bad things happen in this world?" Her answer was that God uses bad things to bring people together and bring them closer to God. B.J. learned that through his mission trip. You can tell that through his journal entries. It is a constant blessing to me and others to read of how God is working through B.J. I am sure that God is sitting right beside B.J. holding him, teaching him and giving him rest. I pray that B.J.'s body gets stronger each and every day and that his kidneys start functioning on their own. To God be the Glory!
