Canula cutting is complete! His SATs actually increased to 95% during the procedure...He is Almighty!!! The procedure was accompanied by "Haste the Day"...one of BJ's favorites (apparently not the Dr's.). Anyway, the nurses said he earned his choice of "canula cutting" music...so we chose for him.
BJ's blood gases (PO2)on ECMO were in the 50's consistenly. Upon shutting down the oxygenator earlier, they dipped to 33. They have rebounded. At 2:00 pm they were 56. At 3:00 Pm they were still 56, and his CO2 was down to 60.
The perfusionist (Chris) pointed to his SAT numbers and said, "I didn't think we'd get close to this (95%), in fact, we've never been close to this." We Praise You our Father!!!
Earlier today, he was going on about how long the ECMO pump had been running without Heprin and was clot free. I asked, "is that an ECMO record?" He said "the longest we've ever gone is 17 hours." I asked how long has it been for BJ? He replied "43 hours!"
My God has absolute AUTHORITY!!! He Reigns!!! How unbelievably believable is that for our Lord?

Thank you, God, for this positive day in the midst of so much uncertainty. I am so glad for all of you; this is definitely some good news.
After reading the last entry about needing his blood oxygen #s to increase, I wanted to pray something that seemed praising God for no clotting but still asking that BJ's oxygen levels increase. All of a sudden, the song, "Rise Up, Rise Up and lift up Jesus" came to mind. I thought the "rising up" was appropriate since that's just what we needed BJ's levels to do! Also, I made up words to the verses b/c I couldn't remember the exact words so I made up words praising God for the strength he has given to your family and asking for BJ's healing of his body. Rejoice in this glorious day and may it continue to swing in the positive direction.
