The surgery is over, earlier than we expected. The surgeon told us it went as well as it could have; BJ's vital signs stayed consistent throughout the procedure! BJ's jugular is now tied off permanently, but other veins will enlarge to compensate. The filter (to prevent blood clots to his heart and lungs) is now in place in his abdomen. Clots caught by the filter will most likely cause chronic swelling in his lower body, but compared to the alternative, we're okay with that. His two femural veins have been repaired as best they can be, but clotting in these locations is still a significant risk.

Thank you so much for being with us in prayer throughout this day. Praise the Lord for another hurdle successfully jumped!

Love in Christ,
Lauren

Praise Jesus! Glad to get home from work and see that the surgery is now complete!

Father, thank you for your provisions for BJ, Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney today. Thank you for the good news from the doctors.
Jesus, as BJ's surgery was successful, we remember little Jayden. Please hold him close, keep him safe, and if it is your will, allow him to handle coming off the ECMO well. Protect Jayden's mommy and daddy. Let them feel your comfort. Hold them close in your arms.
Jesus, we love you, and we thank you for listening to our prayers.
Amen

Hugs and kisses to all of you.

Lotsa love,
Nate and Amy

Thank you for a successful surgery and for keeping all of BJ's vitals stable. Help BJ's family to get some needed rest tonight. Also be with Jayden's family as they are worried about him. Help him to remain stable after being removed from the ECMO.

Praise God!!! Thanks for the update. I pray you will get rest tonight. I just read an August archieve (BJ's latest entry) About dying to self everyday, not just Sunday and Wednesday. BJ is going to be so "annointed" and "special" when he gets through this trial. I believe the Lord has GREAT plans for him. I believe his sister is right, this time is not being wasted, I'm sure God is w/ him and re-filling him. Even though he is very weak and unable to live his life...God is filling him up even more. He his going to continue being a "GREAT MAN of GOD". Continuing to pray. God Bless.
