Another surgery is about to begin. After speaking with the University of Michigan (those who invented Ecmo) the doctors have decided on a new course of action. They were told that bleeding is not entirely unusual, and not life-threatening, but a nuisance as it hinders healing. SOoo...they are prepping him now for the insertion of a chest tube to allow air around his collapsed lung to be evacuated. They are also going to move his jugular tube farther in, and suture around it to provide needed pressure to prevent blood from bleeding out at his neck. Also, the internal bleeding seems to have lessened as the blood content in his abdomen fluid is far less than they thought!!! Praise Jesus!

A new adult ventilator is being shipped here. Upon arrival, they will try to take BJ off of the Ecmo circuit, and with the assistance of this ventilator see if his body is ready to start working more on its own. It is intended as a trial, and they aren't at all sure he will be ready. If he goes back on Ecmo, it is not a defeat.

No new news on the infection, yet.

"Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord;they are pondered by all who delight in them." Psalm 111: 1-2

Please keep praying, you have lifted him and the rest of us immeasurabley,

BJ's dad

I'm praying with you all as BJ undergoes these additional procedures.

Lord, watch over and strengthen the hands of the doctors and nurses. Give them wisdom beyond their experience. Stop the bleeding, clear the infection, and heal BJ's body. Strengthen Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney as they wait. May they find in You everything that they need.

"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deut. 33:24a).

With love,
Becky

Hey Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney, and BJ--
I was glad to come home, check the blogspot and read the psoitive news. Nate and I will be praying that this procedure works well and that BJ is able to work on healing himself with out the use of the ecmo machine. Brent and Deanna, we are paying for strength and encouragement for you. Lauren and Whitney, we are praying for you as you start school. We're far away from you physically at this point but you are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. BJ, hang in there... our prayer for you is that you will feel His presence closely and that with His strength your body will heal. By the way, I can honestly say that I am so glad that you are grumpy... you may not get by with this too often, so make the most of it! We love you BJ.
Hugs and kisses all the way from Northern Ireland...

Praise the Lord for His healing!

Matthew 21: 21-22
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Praying for BJ even harder,

God continues to answer prayers. The news keeps getting more positive throughout the day. I check for updates everytime baby Andrew takes a nap! Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you. I am sure BJ will do fine with the chest tube. Praying for a successful transition to the vent and off of the ECMO. Less sites to let infection in! Praying hard for a full recovery.

Love, Nancy & the girls.

Hi, BJ's dad and family--

It sounds like you are stressed and anxious for a quick resolution to BJ's medical difficulties. We all are! Remember you need to take care of yourselves too. BJ is in good hands with all the doctors and nurses the Lord has provided. Please take care of you! You have people all over praying for you. My eight year old prayed for you all tonight. That just moves my heart. Know that even though you don't know us, we love you and are praying for you!

In His name and love,

Christina

I heard about B.J. from one of my Sunday School students. She came to me after class and specifically asked if I would pray for him. "Yes," I told her. "I would love to pray for B.J."

I just learned of your web site today and I wanted you to know that many people you don't know and perhaps will never meet - are praying for B.J. and for each of you!

Remember: "All things are possible with God!" Mark 10:27 NIV

BJ and family,

I have never met any of you but, I'm friends with some of the team that went to Peru this summer. Heather is a very close friend of mine and she keeps me updated.

Lord, I pray that you would comfort BJ and his family at this time. Thank you for showing me your power through this. I pray that you heal BJ's body. I know that your name is being glorified Lord because many lives have been touched that don't even know BJ, but they do know that BJ is their brother in Christ. AMEN

Just know that I am praying for you!

Sister in Christ,
Jessica

Brent, Deanna, B.J. and girls. I have been praying, daily, for all of you and the doctors since I heard about you B.J. Today is the first time I heard of the site, and I think its great. What a way to let people know exactally what is going on. Since I first heard of B.J.'s illness, I have asked several prayer warriors to pray for all of you. These people are from all over Indiana to Texas. Each person I sent out the prayer request to was asked to put you on their church prayer list and pass it on to their friends and family. I am so sorry for all B.J. is having to endure and of course you to. Isaiah 41:13 says "For I am the Lord your God, who holds your right hand. Who says to you, Do not fear. I will help you." In Christ's Love, Charlene Stovall
