The procedure went fine. The heprin drip (blood thinner) was shut off to aid clotting. So far, no go. However, it could take more time. His body handled the changeover pretty well, and we are thankful for that.

His left lung is partially collapsed with a pneumothorax (air pocket) having developed beside it. If they can get the bleeding under control, they can add an additonal tube to release this air pocket.

More tests will be run in the morning to determine if the infection is under control. They used a high powered antibiotic to try and knock it down.

During a moment when BJ came out of sedation, I told him of your support, and prayers. He shook his head "no" when I asked him if he was in pain.

Thank you to those of you who are praying and to those who are fasting and praying.

Thank you Sam for the translation. That was a timely blessing.

Words cannot express our continued gratitude...

BJ's dad

Let them feel your love and your peace and the support of their friends from all over the world.

And, I do ask that you heal BJ so that he can continue his life witnessing and professing your name.

We love you, Lord, even if we do not fully understand your plan.

I am praying and writing this note to encourage you to hold fast to God and His word. My daughter is an HLG(Hannibal La-Grange) girl and she has seen first hand the results of BJ's love for GOD and his witness to her friends who were in Peru with him this summer. Our hearts are heavy for him and you his family and friends. But know that when we hurt He hurts too. May God's will and wisdom be evident and may He be glorified in All that is said and done in these days.

Dear Ones,
I woke up early this morning. God decided I needed more prayer and less sleep. I've been praying, reading, and singing for BJ's dliverance. God brought the "Cares" chorus to my mind the moment I awoke.

I cast all my cares upon You
I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet.
And anytime that I don't know what to do.
I will cast all my cares upon You.

I'm not sure where to begin. You have such an amazing family and you guys have impacted my life in so many ways. Brent was one of the 1st people I met when we first came to northside and he just welcomed me in such a loving way and i will never forget that. And BJ has always been and always will be such an inspiration to push forward and share Gods word and draw closer to him on my own. I cannot wait to talk with him again and just be awed by how passionate he is and his confidence. God is so AMAZING!!!
Always praying,

Dearest Higgins Family

Debbie and I continue to track BJ's progress via Brent's timely updates (thank you for these update as they mean so much to some many). We continue to seek God's wisdom during this ordeal and ask for God's guidance, grace and comfort. During our discussion of BJ condition yesterday, Debbie and I both agreed that in the short time BJ has been with us here on earth he has done more for the Lord and His return than we have done combined during our time on earth. Quite a testimony for BJ and a wake-up for us to use what time we have left furthering His return. Brent and Deanna, thank you both for having such a fine son, and for raising him to be such a fine Christian example to us all. We continue to pray for BJ's recovery.

God Bless,
Tommy & Debbie Linder

Brent & Deanna,

Have been praying all night for BJ.
I hope the medical staff have been able to get the heparin drip adjusted so it can do the job, but alleviate the bleeding. Also been praying that the bleeding subsides so they can get the chest tube in for the pneumo, and for the antibiotics to start kicking this staph infection. It is such a tight balancing act when you are in this condition. It is truly in God's hands. Will continue to also pray for you and the girls.
Let us know if we can do anything at all for you.
Love, Nancy

Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."
