Surgery is complete. 1 hour from closure, his neck shows only minimal bleeding...Thank you Lord! His chest tube is in, and already his collapsed lung has reopened...My God is AWESOME!! Attempts to suture his leg tube have uncertain results at present.

They have decided not to use the adult ventilator just yet, but may do so if his bleeding is not resolved. The fluid around his fomerly collapsed lung looked bloody, but is primarly fluid...a good sign...the same goes for that in his abdomen. Early indicators that his internal bleeding is slowing (yes Dr. Sichting, I am portraying you nicely).

Thank you for your continued prayer support

Higgins Family,
I have been doing my best to keep up on BJ's condition. It seems as if things are constantly up and down, but knowing things are constantly in God's hands brings a steady peace to the whole situation. I am praying both for BJ's condition, but also your sanity. I hope you continue to feel uplifted and at peace over the next months ahead. While I am currently out of the area, feel free to send me any particular prayer request or request in general. Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your request to God and may the peace that transcends all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord" In Christ

Please let us know how things go because we also have a God Answer's Prayer Wall and we pray his name will be on there soon. Thank you, B.J., for all of the stong christian background we have heard about you and that really encourages us to get out more to spread God's word. We are praying strong for B.J. here at HLG and we stongly believe in God's will.

I am so sorry for your suffering. Just know we are out here and praying for you to the one true God, who knows all our needs.

B. J., Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney, I have finally figured out how to use this comment section--I am a little computer illiterate. I have been checking this site several times daily so that I may join in lifting B.J. and his needs to our Mighty Father along with all the multitudes across the world. I am so in awe of the response of so many people that none of you have even met, but that love our Lord as much as you all do. I have been so touched and moved to tears so many times as I read the comments. This is definitely a teaching experience for all of us in the power of prayer and a visible evidence of what will happen if we all fall on our knees before our Father and pray in HIs will. Thank you for sharing with us so diligently and know that you are in our prayers unceasingly. We love you all. Hang tough B.J.

Ok, so I don't know BJ, but I am from Hanibal LaGrange College, and we had a prayer meeting for him last night. I'm sure you already know this, but he is loved, and missed. Like I said, I don't know him, but because of our common bond in Christ, I know BJ's heart. Earlier this year, I lost my room mate to a car accident. If I could ask God for anything for you it would be that you don't have to go through the pain of losing BJ. But more importantly...that God's will be done in BJ's and your lives. In 1 Cor. 10:13 (and this is taken out of context a little, but it still applies...) it says, "...he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." Ok, so maybe it's talking about temptation, but I think that this also applies to sorrow and pain. God will provide you a way out so you can stand up under whatever the devil throws at you and BJ. I love you, but most of all God loves you and his plan is flawless. We may not think so sometimes, but trust in His flawless plan.

Hey BJ you dont know me and I dont know you but I have been asked to pray for you for a while now. I have even posted in my dorm hall prayer board, at Ozark Christian College in Joplin MO. God is using you right now, Look how many people are crying out to the Lord for your health. one though for every one. This is a passage taken from Fresh Wind Fresh Fire. ..in the Old Testament when people " called" upon God. It means "to Cry out, to implore aid" This is the essence of true prayer that touches God...."Call upon Me in the day of trouble" God says in Psalm 50:15. " I will deliver you , and you will honor me."

Paula, Allison and I are in continual prayer for you. My several illnesses and especially my most recent back surgery has reminded me of my priorities. And now BJ, with his tremendous heart for the Lord has once again convicted me that as believers we cannot live our lives as "usual". I truly believe BJ's illness will be instrumental in not hundreds but thousands coming into His Kingdom. I wish I could ease your pain but perhaps these words of encouragement will help from Psalm 37......
Psalm 37
Of David.
1 [a] Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.

11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;

13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.

15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.

16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;

17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.

18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD,
and their inheritance will endure forever.

19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish:
The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields,
they will vanish—vanish like smoke.

21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;

22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be cut off.

23 If the LORD delights in a man's way,
he makes his steps firm;

24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be blessed.

27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.

28 For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
They will be protected forever,
but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;

29 the righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.

30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks what is just.

31 The law of his God is in his heart;
his feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
seeking their very lives;

33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Wait for the LORD
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,

36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
there is a future [b] for the man of peace.

38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
the future [c] of the wicked will be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

40 The LORD helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

I know Julie in Cedarville and Michael in Purdue are having many join them in prayer as well. We love you all !!!!!
