Another quiet night!!! The Christmas Carol "Silent Night, Holy Night" has all new meaning to us. We are so thankful for this restful stretch. It has been a long time coming. Believe it or not, he has developed a second pneumothorax (air pocket in chest cavity around lungs) on his left side. Nurses/RT's turned down the ventilator pressure as a result. Amazingly his Sat's and blood gases have improved! His Sat is running 99-100, and his PO2 is in the 70's and 80's! Thank you Lord Jesus for continuing to look out for him.

He is supposed to get turned over today. We will see what happens to those pneumo's then. His kidneys need to work, but it has been explained by nurse Donna that there is a lot of pressure in his body physically, because of all the retained fluid, and once Cvvh removes it, he'll have a better chance. Bleeding is stopped, so please pray it doesn't restart with turning him.

Have a great day!!!

Hey guys! This is Patty Ramsey from FBC. My computer has been down so I haven't had the opprtunity to write to you until now. It really looks like things are looking up for BJ right now so that is entirely incredible through the eyes of a believer because we all know the biggest factor in taking care of him. God can be so AMAZING! I have kept you guys in my prayers and I will definately continue to do so. BJ is an inspirational person and I am totally looking forward to seeing him up and going again. That is all I have to say for right now I will try to post again soon. I love you guys. Take care.

P.S. It is true... I convinced him to get the pink shirt!! Some guys really can look cute in pink shirts!

I am so glad that you had a peaceful night! What a difference a week has made. Last weekend, wow, was full of anguish and holding our breath. This weekend, BJ is doing so much better and we can rejoice with you. I hope that you are all very bored today!!

Even though BJ is doing better, know that we continually are lifting him up to the Lord until his complete recovery. And we pray that God continues to encourage you and strengthen you.

Have a great day....relax because we got your back:).

Dear Jesus,

Thank you so much for holding BJ in your arms all night and watching over him as he rested. We praise you for all of the answered prayers; all the little miracles we have witnessed.

We pray that you multiply these miracles in the spiritual lives of all who have witnessed them, both at the hospital and through the living woven fabric of believers you have brought together to pray for this family. But, more importantly, may those who don't know you yet be drawn to you.

Thank you, again, Jesus, for sheltering BJ and this beautiful family. Continue to give them rest and peace. Watch over BJ as he is turned today, please keep his stats stable, help his body to rid itself of unnecessary fluids, keep his body from bleeding, and eliminate the air pockets. Just a few things, really.

You are such a Father!

Good morning

Brent, its wonderful to hear the upbeat tenor of your updates. The story of the pink shirt was quite funny as all of our children love to do things that will get our goat. Ha ha. Also, we do pray for rain we have needed it outside as well as inside. God has already provided one and I know he will release the other. We just want you to know how much your family is loved. You have always praised God together and I know you will continue to do so in the future.

Isn't it amazing to hear what all of our brothers and sisters in Christ have been praying for BJ. I've been brought to tears most often by the simple prayers of the little children. That's why Jesus said suffer the little children to come unto me. For though they don't have the developed faith that many adults have the simple innocence in their prayers make them more precious and I believe that they truly touch the heart of God. Every time I turn on the computer now my daughter asks me if I'm checking on BJ. Thank you for the opportunity to share in your storm through the blessing of being able to pray for your family.

Father,
Thank you for a restful night. We know that you hold all things in your hands and that you would never put a burden upon us that we couldn't bear. Thank you for blessing us with a "family" that truly love you and knows your power. We know that nothing is impossible for those who believe and beyond that nothing is impossible for you. By the miracles that you have performed on BJ's behalf everyday, we can also realize that you care about every little aspect of our lives whether it is creating "rain", or sustaining our bodies when it comes off of an ECMO and the doctor don't think we will make it. Father, thank you for using our lives to bring glory unto yourself. Our greatest privelegde is to worship you and to bring you glory and BJ is currently doing both without speaking a word. May the rest of our lives serve to bring you glory as well for you are more than worthy.

Higgins family you continue to be in our prayers,
In Christ's love
Dawn D.

Hi there,

Definitely praying for a "non-eventful"weekend for all of you, with the exception for the excitement of showing good progress. Sounds like BJ is stabilizing more, those pneumo's hopefully will minimize now that they turned down the vent pressure.
Praying for those kidneys and the skin breakdown. Praying for the day when you can talk to BJ and let him know what an impact he has been to everyone. Take care, have a peaceful weekend, love you guys.

Love, Nancy

Stand Firm
13But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
Father God breath new life into BJ's Kidneys and allow his lung to open fully and completely. Also, might Brent, Deanna, and the girls sense a renewed strength and encouragement even now as I pray. Help them to draw strength from all of us who love them and are standing and kneeling along side them. We ask with hearts of expectations in Jesus Name.
We love you and send {{{{HUGS}}}}

Brent...you will like this. We were starting some of our Sat. morning clean-up. I thought I would turn on the cd player & do our chores to some good, Christian cds (Really loud as it seems to help). What do you know, one of the kids had loaded the Christmas cd by current Christain artists that I had found in the glove box a few days ago. So, I hit play, turn up the knob, and suddenly "Silent Night" is BLARING all over the house. Now, I ask you "WHO do you think this reminded us of AGAIN?"!!!!!!!! Prayers are shot up all day long because God reminds us in so many ways of your little family. We pray through our days all the time around here...but, boy, has the Higgins family been the one of the top priorities for the past 14 days!!

I love when God does that!

Couldn't help but tell you one of the MANY ways God keeps you in our hearts & prayers!

Brent, Deanna,
I'm so glad to see that B.J. has been doing better. "Baby Steps", baby steps seem to be what is needed sometimes for each of us to get to where we are going. It seems as though B.J. is doing just that....taking Baby Steps. We continue to pray for him, and check the site not only multiple times througout the day, but it's the first thing we do when we get up, before we leave the house of a morning and the last thing we do before we go to bed. Not to mention it's typically the first thing each time we arrive back home. I keep each of you in my thoughts and prayers again this day.
We love you guys.
Matt
May God Bless you all, as all things are possible through prayer!

My heart is saddened to hear that B.J. is worse. My husband and I will pray for God's intervention and for B.J.'s healing. Walter Moore, a new friend of mine, has been keeping me informed of B.J.; and, I know God is watching after him, blessing him for all his GOOD WORKS! God bless you all and always remember God IS in control!

I received an email from the Mercy Me website to pray for BJ. I was so moved by his journal entries and they have inspired me so much in my own personal walk with Jesus. BJ is truly a remarkable person and even though I've never met him, his undying faith and devotion to Jesus is awe inspiring and I feel like I know him. I pray that our Lord give him complete healing for his body, a swift and complete recovery, and peace for his family who have been struggling so long. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis two years ago, I have four small children and I'm a nurse as well. It's been a difficult two years but reading about BJ's strength and faith have helped me realize that I can never give up or lose sight of our Lord's real and vibrant power in our lives. Thank you for the opportunity to read BJ's journal entries. God bless you all and my prayers are with you all always! Doris Wheat from Ocala, Florida
