Tonight, BJ's temperature was under 95. He received new blood products and this contributed to his low body temp. He is covered with something called a "Bair Hug"
An apparatus to warm him. His numbers remain good, and we are encouraged and Praising the Lord!

As we start to look ahead, here are some things that will take place. Once BJ is stable and can be removed from the oscillating ventilator, he will be put back on the regular ventilator. If stable then, he will have a tracheotomy. This will be connected directly through the ventilator. Around that time, they can reduce sedation and allow him to start to become more conscious. Somewhere in all of this, he will likely have another bronchoscopy of his left lung, to look at the abnormality they found previously, but could not identify. They will likely biopsy it to see what it is, and if it is what caused his condition, or a result of being in this condition. We still do not know what caused his illness. But we give all Praise and Honor to our God, that He is being glorified through it!!! We are also very grateful that He has performed multiple miracles in the process!!!

We are humbled at your continued prayer support, and extremely grateful to all of you who blog, and all who do not but still pray.

Goodnight,

Beej's dad

G'night and pray the Holy Spirit watches over you all this night as you sleep !!! Pray tomorrow is a restful and healing day.....

3I thank my God every time I remember you. 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
7It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. 8God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

9And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Dear Brent, Deanna, Whitney and Lauren,

Know that we are constantly holding you all up in our prayers. We want you to know how much we appreciate being kept informed on how BJ is doing and also how and what to pray for. Thank you for being such awesome examples of what true believer look like when they are going through a storm. Your faith and godliness is a challenge to us all.

Thank You Father for blessing BJ today. For allowing his kidneys to begin to "leak" and for the blessing of being able to turn him off his back and onto his stomach so that he can begin to heal there as well. We believe that You have many other miracles in store for this dynamic young man both in the hospital and out of it. Father, if you have said that BJ is to go to Africa next year then we know that this is only a storm that he must pass through to get to the other side. Thank You for declaring the end from the beginning that we might have a promise upon which we can rest our hope for the future. We love you and glorify you because You are more than worthy.

Continuing to pray!!!!!!
In Christ's love

Whoa! Another really big day!

Catheter in - fluids out! Leak on, Brother BJ, leak on! Skin treatment will commence soon, and he gets to sleep on his tummy! That's a lot for one day, but not for our God! I mean, He's got a track record of accomplishing quite a lot in a seven day period, Amen? Today has to have been relieving and quite encouraging. The fact that BJ posted such strong stats through it all is something that really, really encourages me.

Don't worry: everyone is in this for the long haul. We know there will be prayer concerns for every step along the way. God will bless you with support that has endurance!

Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney - please don't be shy with expressing any needs you have, physical, emotional, spiritual, etc., to those God is placing around you. We are all here together, in the situations God has placed us, to be of service to each other with the talents, histories and resources God has entrusted to us for the purpose of encouraging and upholding each other. What's ours is yours. Remember, it would be a privilege for any of us to share anything we can with you...it is the way our Lord intended for us to support each other! You would do no less for anyone else!

I'm sure you have been touched in so very many ways during the last 32 days or so, and I hope you are writing some of it down. What a record of blessings that must be!

We will keep praying for a comforting night of stability for BJ, and of rejuvenating rest for all of you.

It is such a privilege to pray for each of you!

In His Love,
Jamie

We're constantly checking the updates and always praying, too, even though we don't post comments every day...

We love all of you very much, and wish we were there again to hug you in person...

Love, Jolene

FYI: Dan and 3 other ministers went to New Orleans to see where our area churches will be best able to help out in the near future--planning to send work teams to help rebuild. He says the devastation is really unbelievable! Also, they are taking pictures of the houses of some of the evacuees who are here in Deer Park who have no idea how their property fared, and will show the homeowners the photos when they get back in town (tomorrow night).

Buenas noches,
El papa de BJ.

Praise the Lord!!!! It is so wonderful to be looking ahead!

Lord God, I thank You for Your love and mercy that has been poured out on BJ and his family. I pray for BJ's body to continue to heal and strengthen. I pray for peace for the family. I pray for wisdom for the doctors and other medical staff. Father, I thank You for providing so many godly men and women on the medical staff at the hospital. I pray for those who do not know You - that they would see You working in BJ's life and recognize their own need for You. I give You all the glory, Lord!! Amen.

We're still praying - and I ordered a t-shirt to spread the word!!

Goodnight Higgins family,

You continue in our thoughts and prayers. It is good to see a plan laid out in front of you for the upcoming events for BJ. We will be praying for each of these steps to recovery. We will get him home yet, hopefully in time to see some autumn colors around your house. It is always so pretty out that way. Hope everyone has a restful night and be ready for another day.
Love to all.

We are continuing to pray for BJ at this time. Also I wanted to let you know that Jayden's funeral services are Sunday 3-8 and Monday at 11. Pray for us at these times as these will be the hardest for his mommy and daddy and family to say goodbye. Thank you so much for your support and for sharing us with all of your friends. I just read through all of the blogs for Jayden and it is truly amazing how many people were praying for him at one time! Thanks,

Wow. What a difference a day makes. What a difference OUR GOD makes!

Thank you, Walker, David and Awe Star, for whatever miracles you performed to make the T-Shirts a "go." We already knew you were AWEsome--but that's just above and beyond. . .

I see from the blogs that many share my "addiction," which I genuinely believe is an addiction to fervent prayer, of needing to check on BJ early in the morning, late at night, and frequently in between. BJ, when you read these one day soon, I trust that (once you finish blushing about discussions of your bodily functions) God will remind you of what an incredible future and hope He has planned for you. That "incredi-map" will definitely show the many hearts and lives He has touched so intensely with the burden to pray, and pray, and pray for you!

Please know, dear Higgins family, that we are praying for you as well. May God bind up your wounds and heal your broken spirits and give you hope when things look bleak and shine light in, around and through you. May He fulfill spoken and unspoken requests. And tonight. . .may He give you peaceful, very peaceful, REST

and love in Him,

But as we know God holds the future. I hope you are able to rest and feel a little more at peace tonight. My prayers are with you always. This whole situation has really made my relationship with God grow. I find myself with the Bible in my car and reading before I go into work. Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us.

As is usual, I've read through the posts from others before I focus on what the Lord has for me concerning BJ (what to pray for), and this post below really touched my heart. Isn't our God so beautiful that He draws the heart of a sweet 10 year old to commit to pray for BJ. And it serves as a reminder to us, the body of Christ, to come to the Lord with faith like a child. Bless you Robert of Zionsville for showing us again what faith is. May the Lord bless you for your commitment to BJ.

I have prayed for B.J. every night and I am happy he is getting better.

I was so happy to read the news of today and how God has blessed you all yet again.. Our God is wonderful, mighty, worthy, magnificent, there just aren't enough words to describe how we feel about our God. May He continue to bless BJ with His divine healing touch and for you, BJ's family, may He give you continued peace, strength, comfort and most importantly rest. I continue to pray for you all, like so may others I find myself checking the site time and time again throughout the day, to the point where I can't seem to concentrate on anything much else other than praying for all of you.
Thank you Awestar for the T-shirts, I've ordered for myself and my husband and we plan to wear them with pride, and pray that we too will have the opportunity to witness to others of the Miracles that the Lord has done in BJ and so many others across the globe.
I'd like to agree with the other person who stated that we are here not just for prayer, but for anything else that we can do to help you and to lessen your burden, all that's required from you is to ask, we love you, and are commited to stay by your side until you can stand alone.

I check this website and pray for BJ and your family daily. I am a nurse on another unit at St. Vincent and have passed this website on to many others. I feel God using this tragedy to someday be a wonderful testimony of your faith and his eternal grace and mercy! My prayer is that many non-believers are led to Christ through your suffering.
I came across this phrase and thought it seemed appropriate...

Difficulties to a Christian are only miracles that have not yet happened!

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10
