Beej looks good this morning! His hair washed and combed, his face thinned down, and His SAT's in the mid to upper 90'S...Praise Jesus!!! I believe he will be turned back to his tummy this morning (bye-bye thin face). His heart rate is down, his blood pressure is close to normal. We are so thankful this morning!!!

His ventilator pressure is higher than when he started with this infection, so hopefully they will be able to come down on that today, and move towards getting him off this ventilator. At least as soon as he's ready.

Loved ones we cannot tell you how much you have meant to us through this journey. Your continuous outpouring of love has been both uplifting and inspirational.

Thank you,

BJ's dad

Brent, Deanna, Lauren & Whitney, good morning. Praise God for the great news !!Unfortunately my back wakes me up several times during the night but I now see it as an opportunity to pray for BJ and you all. Your family is a true inspiration to us all. I pray fervently for God to help the doctors identify the infection and remove any trace of it from BJ's body. Also pray for BJ's numbers to stay up today and for new life for his kidneys. I know the God who created BJ, Kidneys and all will Himself bring total and complete healing. I still feel the need for God's people to gather on the property...NOT inside which would be distracting but perhaps in the garden in front of the hospital. I can be there in a moments notice to pray a hedge of proctection over your entire family.

Psalm 37
1 [a] Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
23 If the LORD delights in a man's way,
he makes his steps firm;
24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be blessed.

Thank you Father God, for watching over BJ, his family, the doctors and nurses this day. If there be any evil attacking BJ's body we command it to come out by the authority of Jesus Himself. The Body of Christ is united and of one mind, even so make it so Lord Jesus for we pray in Your name Amen..............Love you...Phil

May you continue to find that grace today and tomorrow. BJ must be doing some special work bringing people to the Lord. I pray that God Himself remove any evil from his body so he can continue to do the Lords work. In His name I pray.

Your update yesterday really touched my heart. Even though I've been in your shoes with my own son, I don't even know what to say to you in my own words. Instead, God's Word tells you, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jer. 29:11-13

On the hardest of days and when I felt that there was nothing I could do to help my son, I always reminded myself of absolute truths straight from God's Word: "[Love] ALWAYS protects, ALWAYS trusts, ALWAYS hopes, ALWAYS perseveres. Love NEVER fails." 1Cor 13:7-8

It doesn't say "sometimes", "on occasion", "whenever it feels like it", "as needed", or a medical term like "PRN"; it says ALWAYS and NEVER!

Maybe you feel helpless on some days but always remember that your most important job right now is to love BJ, and love NEVER fails!

We continue to pray throughout each day.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for encouraging news this morning. Thank you for sustaining Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney through another stressful day yestersay and giving them peace and joy in the morning.
Thank you for the wonderful medical team that you have provided for BJ. Thank you that they are able to be an encouragement to Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney. Thank you for Dr. Sichting and her encouraging words to Deanna last night. Father, you work in wonderous ways... Thank you for always providing.
Be with BJ today, Lord. Give the doctors wisdom and knowledge to find the source of the infection, and, Father, we pray that it will be banished from BJ's body. Allow his numbers to remain stable and please allow his kidneys to begin functioning. You created BJ, and we are so thankful that we can approach the maker of ALL things for help.
Continue to be close to Brent, Deanna, Lauren and Whitney today. Hold them closely when they are tired and frustrated... Be with them when they need comfort and encouragement.
We thank you for your power, your might, and your hand in all of this.

Praying that you will have a "boring" day... followed by a few more and some time to breathe.

We love you LOADS.

Indeed your journey is like a rollercoaster ride. Some hours up, some hours down. It is grueling, for sure. A lot of people couldn't do it. Your ability to keep going shows that God is providing super-natural strength that can only come from Him. I know BJ would be proud of how you are holding up. I am proud of you, too. I've posted before, but will tell you again that I made it through 156 days of NICU rollercoaster and saw my baby die twice in front of me post op. But, praise God he is fine now! No one can prepare you for what you are experiencing. This is a marathon journey that requires that you take care of yourselves when you probably don't feel like it. For BJ, and to stay strong enough to tolerate all, be sure to sleep and eat! I lost 30 pounds from stress alone on my journey! And, always remember that friends and strangers alike continue to fervently lift BJ and your family up in our prayers. Don't be afraid to ask for help...others want to help but don't know how... Even little things like asking someone else to mow your yard, or clean your house, or do your laundry can make a big difference b/c you won't have to think about those things. Though we've never met, and probably will never meet, you are loved. Carol

Praise the Lord for joy in the morning! I am so thankful things are looking "up" this morning! I truly felt entrenched in spiritual warfare all day yesterday, along with all the other mighty prayer warriors here.

Sweet Whitney, your post was so honest and heartwarming. I have 3 children myself - 2 girls and a boy(all a little older than you guys) - and it is so easy to take each other for granted. My children have only in the last few years learned to cherish one another after years of "battling" LOL

I've always heard that God works in mysterious ways, and through personal experience, I know that the blessings are many that come from being in the "darkness" - you just have to wait for them to come to light!

Please know that we here in Georgia are continuing to lift you all up to our sweet Lord in prayer. Your family is an inspiration and I just can't express enough how being with you on this journey has blessed and strengthened me.

Praying for a peaceful day today - good SAT numbers, no fever, good blood pressure, kidneys that "rain", and destruction of the infection. Also, for all the doctors, nurses, medical staff God has provided especially for you.

Always praying!

Love in Him,

Dearest family,

Yesterday morning I was at the point of feeling like, “Enough is enough.” Probably most of us were. Back when all of this started with BJ, the first thing the Lord brought to my mind was the story of Lazarus in John 11. Shortly after that He had me thinking of Abraham and Isaac. About a week and a half ago I was praying and wondering why the uncertainty needed to go on and on. I knew God didn’t NEED us, His people, in order to perform a miracle. Yet it has seemed so evident that He has wanted all of His people praying, that He was bringing people to Himself through this. Still, my heart has cried for the agony that you (Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney) are going through.
As I prayed at that time, it’s like the Lord said, “I need for everyone to surrender and let go and believe me in this. You don’t need to beg me. You need to just let go and trust. My glory can’t be fully seen until my people surrender everything to me. I know what I’m doing.”
My prayers began to be that everyone who hears about BJ would come to a place of full surrender, not only being willing to surrender BJ, but being willing to surrender to God’s will regarding everything in their own lives. Only God knows what that means. The evidence of surrender and grace in your lives (Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney) has been amazing to watch, but my human heart cries out for you to be relieved.
I know that God has really convicted me and spoken to me and reminded me a lot about priorities. I’ve allowed too many things too keep me too busy. I think that many times we as Christians keep too busy with the mundane things of life, and even the things of God become routine. We make mountains out of so many things that are really so small. Sometimes we are so busy doing things for the church, that we have little time to be, which is really what it’s all about.
Over the years Dennis and I have read many different devotional books, but an old one that we still like to come back to at times is STREAMS IN THE DESERT. I couldn’t tell you how many times we have been blessed from that book giving us just the right words at the right time. Lately, Dennis has been reading it again, and yesterday morning when I was particularly burdened for all of you, he said, “Beth, if you haven’t read from STREAMS IN THE DESERT today, you need to. It takes us right back to the words from John 11 and the story of Lazarus.” I quote from the devotional for September 20th.

“Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40.)
Mary and Martha could not understand what their Lord was doing. Both of them said to Him, “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.” Back of it all, we seem to read their thought: “Lord, we do not understand why you have stayed away so long. We do not understand how you could let death come to the man whom you loved. We do not understand how you could let sorrow and suffering ravage our lives when your presence might have stayed it all. Why did you not come? It is too late now, for already he has been dead four days!”
And to it all Jesus had but one great truth: “You may not understand; but I tell you if you believe, you will see.”
Abraham could not understand why God should ask the sacrifice of the boy; but he trusted. And he saw the glory of God in his restoration to his love. Moses could not understand why God should keep him forty years in the wilderness, but he trusted; and he saw when God called him to lead forth Israel from bondage.
Joseph could not understand the cruelty of his brethren, the false witness of a perfidious woman, and the long years of an unjust imprisonment; but he trusted, and he saw at last the glory of God in it all.
Jacob could not understand the strange providence which permitted the same Joseph to be torn from his father’s love, but he saw the glory of God when he looked into the face of that same Joseph as the viceroy of a great king, and the preserver of his own life and the lives of a great nation.
And so, perhaps in your life. You say, “I do not understand why God let my dear one be taken. I do not understand why affliction has been permitted to smite me. I do not understand the devious paths by which the Lord is leading me. I do not understand why plans and purposes that seemed good to my eyes should be baffled. I do not understand why blessings I so much need are so long delayed.
Friend, you do not have to understand all God’s ways with you. God does not expect you to understand them. You do not expect your child to understand, only believe. Some day you will see the glory of God in the things which you do not understand.—J.H. McC.

So what does all this mean for me and for all those praying for BJ? I think God just wants us to let go and trust Him. Perhaps the areas people are struggling with surrendering may have nothing to do with BJ, but God is using the circumstance with BJ to speak to them. God doesn’t just want us to believe He can perform a miracle. He wants us to believe that whatever He chooses to do is the right choice, even if that means waiting for that choice to be revealed. He wants us to trust Him in every area of our lives. He wants us to surrender everything to Him and be willing for anything, just like BJ surrendered and was willing for anything. All I know is that God is asking me to pray that everyone who knows about BJ will surrender every area of their lives completely to God today and will just trust Him. For that is when I believe God’s glory will be revealed.
Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney, and BJ, I love you all so very much and look forward to the day when we can see each other again, and when we can rejoice together over what God has done. Thank you for the way your lives have spoken to me.

Much love,

(I'm sorry this is so long, but it comes with much love and lots of prayer.)

I couldn't agree with you more, I just started reading Tommy Tenny's book "God Chasers" and he speaks about being humbled and repentant before the Lord, before He will show His glory. My personal prayer is Lord show me where I need to surrender to You. I want so much to have more of the Lord, to see His glory, to see His glory, brings in the unsaved to a personal relationship with Him. There is so much that could be said on this, but I join with cousin Beth and ask that we as the body of Christ would go to the Lord and surrender everything to Him so that we may see His glory.
Thank you Beth for this timely reminder.
Thank You Lord that Your hearts desire is for us to give it ALL to you, that we would seek Your face and not Your hands that we may see Your glory.

I am a novice at this on the computer but for the 3rd time I am going to try to send this note to your family.

My daughter is a nurse at St. Vincents and has been praying for BJ and your family. She has asked that our family lift you up in prayer as well, which I am privileged to do. She referred me to your website and it has moved me to tears and my heart aches for your family. I am so blessed by your testimony of God's work in your lives and by BJ's testimony in his journal writings. We recently went through a similar experience with our first grandson.. who for 4 months we didn't know from day to day if he was going to live or die. Praise God! God chose to let him live but the struggle continues on as he has some significant health issues, but through it all we've seen God use this little one to win people to Christ... which is what makes it worth it all...even though it is not easy to say that or experience the trials. But, God is awesome no matter what the circumstances---and based on what I've read about BJ--he would concur with that statement.

Lord, I am lifting this family and BJ up to you today... Bless them and give them a great day in You. Be with the doctors and nurses as they try to meet BJ's needs and bring healing to BJ's body, as well as minister to the spritual needs of BJ and his family. I claim Your promises that I've read about in Your word and I claim victory in this spiritual and physical battle. Thank You Jesus--You are truly a God of Miracles--and soooo Awesome!!

Miss you here at the camp. Just know that BJ is in my prayers everyday, every second that God lays him on my heart. We are all doing good, but miss you. We have a camp dog now. Brian said we can't have one and the dog had to go. She chased him down the other day when he went to your house and she didn't come back with him. Brian was afraid she would get hit on the road, because she doesn't hear vary good and went after her.
Also, that day he got her some dog food. Brian said it's my dog because I started feeding her. So, now we have this yellow dog that chases after you when you drive aroud the camp. when I leave at night I have to go down to the retreats and drive fast so she can't keep up and doesn't go out to the road. You would laugh at us and this dog!
Tell Deanna and girls I'm thinking of them and praying for them.
