Nurse Deb said "You can call today a positive plus." BJ is hanging in there. His blood gases are good, his SATs are good, his heart rate is low and steady...no fever either. Somebody out there has children who say "Yay God!" I agree wholeheartedly!!!

It has been awesome to be afforded the peace of Christ, a benefit that comes partially from the sweet incense of prayer, offered up by those of you reading this. Thank you so very much.

Tomorrow is supposed to be canula (tube) removal day. We may be looking at all 3, plus the vein repair since we have 2 surgeons working together...assuming they can get their schedules to merge...not a confirmed thing. It could be a waiting day.

So far the Cvvh machine is working well! Praise Jesus for this!

Some of you are asking about t-shirts. I have someone working on it, and will let you know.

Thank you again for your encouragement. We truly feel it, and appreciate it. We trust you are receiving a blessing through it as well.

Dear Precious Higgins family,
I am Melissa Camp’s mother and learned about BJ on Jeremy Camp’s website. My heart and my prayers are with you throughout every day and as the Lord awakes me in the night. Our church is praying and The Brooklyn Tabernacle has promised to pray for BJ everyday for 30 days. I am praising Jesus for his daily mercies and answered prayers!

Brent and Deanna – your children shine for Jesus. We are all benefiting from your godly parenting. Thank you. BJ’s journals have stirred my soul. Thank you BJ for your radical devotion to Christ – the rewards will be great!

“For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.” Phil 2:27 I am praying for God’s mercy on all of you and especially Deanna.

“But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.” Phil 1:12

Every morning my daughter gets up and asks, "Have you checked on BJ yet?" And we do just as soon as we rise each day and throughout the day.

It has been overwhemlming to see the incredible outpouring of love and prayers and praise to our precious Lord on BJ's behalf! God is so good to let us get a small taste of the unity of the true Body of Christ.

We love and appreciate your family though we've never met and are continually blessed to be part of praying.

This is a song by Nicole C. Mullen that I heard on my way home this afternoon:

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning
Who told the ocean you an only come this far?
Who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

The very same God that spins things in orbit
He runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life wihtin me cry
I know my Redeemer, He lives

To take away my shame
And He lives forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He's alive
And there's an empty grave.

And I know my Redeemer, He lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

I'm constantly in prayer for bj and the family. God is so amazing and is watching over you!

Brent and Deanna,
PRAISE THE LORD! He is worthy to be praised. Wanted to share that yesterday was Matt's birthday and we were eating at Texas Roadhouse in Avon and Katie and Holly had on their T-shirts. We had the opportunity to share BJ's story with a young couple sitting in the waiting area asking about who is BJ? And then we go sit down at our table and this young teenage girl walks over and says "Do you go to First Baptist in Mooresville?" Of course we proudly said, why yes we do! Matt looked over at me with that look.....who is she, oh no, she knows us and we don't know her! Well, she didn't know us at all, of course she knew BJ! She asked for an update and shared what a great guy he was. WOW!! What a testimony he has to share! You might be surprised to see Matt next time.......I'm going to get him in a pink shirt!

I now have 1 Peter 4:1-2 comepletely memorized, just from the number of people who have asked about BJ. I have reached so many more people withthe love of Jesus Christ than I would have otherwise. Thank you to all the people who made the shirts. Pink is now my color. As always, Brent, Deanna, Whitney, Lauren and especially BJ will be in my prayers.

BJ and family will certainly be in our prayers. I'm sorry we didn't know about him before now. We just got out of the hospital (St. Vincent) with our son, Austin, also. He was in with pneumonia from Saturday, Sept. 3 through Tuesday, Sept. 6. He was also fighting the infection for the week prior to the hospitalization. He also, was not responding to the meds to bring the fever down. I know the many prayers on his behalf were the difference! We will pray for BJ's improvement, and your health as well! I've just learned of BJ from my niece and have spent a while reading and learning about BJ. What a wonderful servent of God. We will be praying for BJ and the family as well. We will be praying you through this storm in your life. This is a song by Jennifer Stanley that means a lot to me.

Sometimes the wind blows harder than you think your house can stand.
You've never faced this kind of storm before.
And you thought because you built upon the rock and not the sand, the house would not be threatened anymore.
But in every life there is pain, and even though I cannot stop the rain.

I'll be praying you through the storm
Praying you through the storm
I'll be interceeding for whatever you're needing
Praying, i'll be praying you through the storm.

I know you'll make it through this, even though you can't see how.
But maybe it's not meant for you to know.
Tomorrow, you'll look back at the storm that's raging now
And there won't be any strong winds left to blow
So please know in your heart, it will end
Cause i'm making you this promise my friend.

I'll be praying you through the storm
Praying you through the storm
I'll be interceeding for whatever you're needing
Praying, I'll be praying you through the storm.

Praying you through the storm.

May you have a refreshingly restful night; with BJ being strengthened and sustained by the love and breath of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What a privilege it is to share with you in prayer. May those around you and attached by blog continue to encourage you.

She said that she was going to wear her shirt to her Tues/Thurs. classes. See, BJ you are still getting witnessing done! Even on a college campus!
Brent and Deanna,I will be praying tomorrow. Know that my heart and thoughts are there with you both when I can't be.

Thank You Lord Jesus for the awesome news of your divine healing power once again today, thank You Lord that BJ's blood gases are good, thank You for a good report on his Sats, for his heart rate and that his fever has dropped.
Thank You Lord that You have blessed the Higgin's family with the peace of Christ, peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord we ask that tomorrow would also be another day of the work of Your loving hand and divine healing touch to BJ's body. Lord that You would guide the hands of the DR's, and give them wisdom. A day of peace and rest for his family.

Higgins Family:

I'm writing from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where my husband & I are missionaries. We learned about BJ through the Koteskeys. Shelby's grandpa & grandma are the international pastors for us here on the field with World Gospel Mission.

What an incredible journey BJ and you guys are on. It's so obvious that Jesus is getting all the honor and glory. And yet, what a testiimony you are, too, as you are transparent and express your fears.

We have a son at IWU, and he's a junior like Lauren. As our son comes to my mind, I often think of Lauren, too, that God would help her cope & concentrate when she'd rather be at BJ's side.

We continue to pray and ask for God's perfect will to be done in & through BJ's life and body.

Praying for another "Yay God" day. . .watching hurricane/tropical storm Ophelia off our coast and seeing how God has taken a potential disaster and weakened it, stalled it and ultimately turned it in a different direction over the past few days reminds us of His power to work all kinds of miracles.
As we watch and pray through this storm (and for those north of us who may bear the brunt) we are remembering BJ and family in your particular storm. . .I think of Henry Blackaby talking about the disciples who were so afraid in their particular storm on the Sea of Galilee. They were looking for peace, and Henry says, "Peace was asleep in the back of the boat."

God, let this family continue to be wrapped in your incredible peace in a powerful and personal way today. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you are with them always. We bless Your holy name as we say Amen and YEA GOD!

Father,
Guide the surgeon's hands, keep B.J. stable and give each member of his family your perfect peace. We rest in the knowledge of your sovereignty and thank you for the blessings of healing you have already performed. We love and praise you.

Psalm 33:18-22

18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.

21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.

22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.

Still praying....

Dear Father,
Please be with the Higgins family today. You know all that is to take place today, You know the risks involved. I pray that Your Spirit will permeate room 2001! That all who enter will sense something special there. I pray that You will guide the surgeons hands, make them steady, help their eyes to see clearly.
Give Brent and Deanna special strength for today. Comfort the girls.
Praising You for all that You have done and continue to do through this situation.
We can't praise You enough!!
Amen

Good morning BJ and family,
I was checking in to see how your night went. Hope it was a very restful one. Today you will be in my prayers and I will be sharing with friends so that we all may pray for the surgery that will go on to day.
It has been a delight to read all the post and know all the encouragement and prayers that go up to our God for you. May today be a bless day! Indianapolis

Good Morning Brent, Deanna & BJ,

This is my third time this AM checking for an update. Am I impatient or what? Andrew is taking a nap, the girls are doing their schoolwork and I am thinking about all of you. Praying that this morning brings more good news, more signs of healing and no complications. Deanna, Carol said last night that you are doing a little bit of scrapbooking? Good for you. When Kim was hospitalized, I tried my hand at crocheting a pink afghan for her. It didn't turn out very well and everyone kept teasing me. It does help to pass the time when you are doing something with your hands. There are only so many books and magazines you can read. I did talk with the Koval's yesterday and gave them an update on BJ. They were in Vermont, heading to Massachusetts, then Conn. for parent's weekend at the Coast Guard. They were anxious for an update because BJ was pretty bad when they pulled out Sat. AM. Well, I should get ready for our co-op class this afternoon. Will be praying for the various procedures that will happen today and for continued healing and recovery. Also praying that God continues to strengthen both you and the girls throughout this. We love you all.

Love, Nancy

Dear Higgins Family, I heard about your website at church (Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, MO)a week ago. I wanted to let you know that our adult small group has BJ on our prayer list.

My heart and prayers go out to your family. Our only son was sent to Iraq a year ago. There were so many people praying that God would put a hedge of protection around him and bring him home safely. God answered those prayers and Matt came home in February. As a mother, I want to pray the same prayer for BJ. I know that God answers prayers and I pray that He put the same hedge of protection around BJ that he put around our son. I pray that this hedge will keep out any further infections and allow God to continue working with His healing hands. I pray that God will continue to bring BJ back from this sickness and into your loving arms. I pray that your family will find peace and comfort in knowing that God is with you always.

This is one of my favorite verses.

John 17:20-26.
20~ I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message.
21~ May they all be one, just as You, Father are in Me and I am in You. May they also be one in Us, so that the world may believe You sent Me.
22~ I have given them the glory that You have given to Me. May they be one just as We are one.
23~ I am in them and You are in Me. May they be made completely one, so that the world may know that You sent Me and that You loved them just as You have loved Me.
24~ Father, I desire those You have given Me to be with Me where I am. Then they may see My glory, which You have given Me because You loved me before the world's foundation.
25~ Righteous Father! The world has not known You. However, I have known You, and these have known that You sent Me.
26~ I made Your name known to them and will make it known, so that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them, and that I may be in them.
I read these verses whenever I am going through a difficult time. It's amazing to thonk that when Jesus was praying this prayer He was thinking of every believer throughout the centuries. That He was thinking of me. Isn't it amazing how you can feel such a love and closeness to someone you've never met, where the only thing you have in common is a love for Jesus Christ? You are in my prayers.
