Beloved, tonight BJ rests in his bed... finally on the ground, free of ECMO. He has resided 6 feet in the air for the past 3 1/2 weeks (for ECMO) with his bed on a motorcycle lift to allow gravity to work in returning the blood to the filter.

An excited medical staff person came down the hall tonight to show us the amazing change in his chest x-ray...today alone. Tonight the film shows 2 lungs that are (ventilator) inflated, with little fluid/pneumonia left in them. Lord we lift Up Praise!!!

His SATs remain in the 90's tonight. His blood gases have improved into the 70's for PO2...Thank you Lord!

The central line is successfully in! We have much to be thankful for.

Ahead, he faces fighting infection, his kidneys aren't functioning right, he's extremely swollen and will get worse...in short it's a delicate balancing act.

We praise our Lord for all the miraculous answers to prayer today!

BJ's dad

Praise the Lord for His goodness to us. 5 sent to bed after finishing more prayers for a dear friend they have never met, but seen God work through in mighty ways. Little Ashley's prayer was for the number to stay in the 90 and his body to work. Out of the mouths of babes. Our prayers will continue through the evening and through the night. We love you.

Higgins family-

I have been following BJ's story for weeks. I heard of it from Layla Zandi of Northside and was absoluting touched, inspired, and driven to pray! My husband and I have told many others. We are absolutely in awe of not only BJ's strength and testimony but your strength and testimony as well as a family! I knew Lauren as a freshman at Lawrence North as I was in marching band with her, and I knew I saw something different in her. It runs in the family! PRAISE GOD FOR HIS CONTINUED HAND IN BJ'S HEALTH! We won't stop praying!

I check this blog site throughout the day to keep up with things and to know how to pray specifically. Thanks to you for being faithful to keep us all in the loop. You have so much other stuff to deal with. . .

I wanted to share the email I sent out to my address book on August 25th. I know B.J. is precious to you because he is your son. It will be many years--maybe heaven--before you'll see whole bunches of ways that God is using this fight for B.J.'s life. This is just one way that I see God is using you all:
**********************************
Dear Friends,

I just wanted to share something very cool with you. My young friend Brittany is a missionary with AweStar. She called me the other night and told me about her friend B.J. He's a missionary with Awestar also, and he's pretty ill right now. Brittany asked if I would pray for him. So I did.

Then she sent me this email a few days later, with a web site address that she wanted me to see.

www.prayforbj.com

So I checked it out.

Here's the thing: You know how there's all this garbage out there on the Internet? Pornography, and hate, and bomb-making instructions, and even a site for married people to meet someone to have an affair with. . .definitely NOT God stuff.

This blog site about B.J.--you have to see it to believe it. There are believers literally all over the world praying for this young man. Not only praying for him, but encouraging his family. And if you read even just a few of the comments people have left, you will also be encouraged.

What a privilege it is to be a part of the Body of Christ! The Bible says that when one member of the Body suffers, we are all affected. What's happening to B.J. right now is fulfilling Scripture that was written forever ago. B.J. is hurting, and we the Body are hurting with him.

And God did all this! On the Internet! Makes me want to laugh in Satan's face and say, "What you meant for evil, Yahweh is using for good!" Just like He promised us He would.

Check out this site: www.prayforbj.com

Pray for B.J. and his family.

Read the comments.

Know that when you do, you are participating in God's hand's moving on the Internet!! Thank You, Jesus!!
******************************
I am encouraged by the reports from today--and know also that this journey is far from complete. You are all on my mind and heart, and I continue to pray.

What wonderful news! We have been praying and checking for updates all day long. This morning, I had a little chat with Sammy and told him that he needed to make sure that he prays extra hard for BJ today. Sammy slept off and on quite a bit today, and we wondered if he was talking with Jesus while he was asleep.

Today was a huge day for BJ, and we pray that tomorrow will reveal even more positive surprises to blow the minds of the doctors!

We will definitely lift up prayers and praises tomorrow morning.

Wow! How the Lord's ways confuse the world! It's amazing how His works continue to baffle the "experts". Praise God for his mercies. May we be obedient to Him, may we remain in petition to Him for BJs continued improvement as he battles each issue.

I love the following scriptures. May they be exciting and soothing to you as you weather this ongoing journey.

We love you and are constantly in prayer with you.

Exodus 15:2-3 (New Living Translation)
2
The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my victory.
He is my God, and I will praise him;
he is my father's God, and I will exalt him!

3
The LORD is a warrior;
yes, the LORD is his name!

1 Chronicles 16:9 (New Living Translation)
9
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his miracles.

4
Sing praises to God and to his name!
Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds.
His name is the LORD--
rejoice in his presence!

Psalm 106
1
Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.

2
Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD?
Who can ever praise him half enough?

Psalm 150:1-2 (New Living Translation)

Psalm 150

1
Praise the LORD!
Praise God in his heavenly dwelling;
praise him in his mighty heaven!

2
Praise him for his mighty works;
praise his unequaled greatness!

This is the first time i am coming here and posting. Im a student at HLG but I regretfuly have not gotten to know him yet...I say yet because i know that i will meet him.

I am praying for him, his friends and family.

There is a old saying. "You can judge a man by the friends he keeps." If this is true, then BJ must be a truly great person. All i have heard here at HLG is "Be praying for BJ". Until recently i really did not know who he was, or how big of a impact he has on this school.

I want his family to know this. This school is praying for him, and for you. God be with you now and forever.

May the Peace of God cause praise and glory to be on our lips and may the Love of Our Father be on our hearts as we bind together for the cause of Christ. We will continue to pray all night as the Lord has placed that on many of our community. BJ and all the Higgins family--We have been following BJ's progress for the last several days--Our daughter (Melanie Carpenter) had asked us to pray for BJ--and we, as well as our church family at Beechwood Christian Church here in French Lick Indiana have been doing that--he is on our prayer list at church and in our hearts constantly.

We were away from home all day today--and when we arrived back this evening the first thing we did was log onto the website to see how BJ is doing. What wonderful news--God truly has his hand on BJ and on his family--We will continue to pray for his full recovery--one step at a time.

We will also pray that your strength holds out also--I know you must be so tired by now--God is with you--he is stonger than any illness....

I just want you to know that Many of my friends are also praying. God works the best in all situations...He has taught me so much just by reading the updates from your family and the awestar web site. It is SOOOO uplifting to hear about such a love for the Lord! It made me realize that I have not been living for God like I should...I just wanted to let you know that God works through even the roughest of situations...I'm sure this is also a growing time for you...faith being tested...I just praise God that in hard times you are still looking toward Him! These verses made me think of you...part of it is even words you said!
James 5:13-18 "Is any of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up..."

Hey,

I just wanted to drop a line and let BJ's family know and be reassured that he has brothers and sisters at Hannibal-LaGrange College who have been faithful in lifting him up to our Lord. God honors our prayers, and He knows the multitude of tears that have fallen on behalf of our brother. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting BJ, but I know from all that I've heard of him that he's a remarkable servant of God. And I feel certain somehow that our Father is well pleased with him.

Keep fighting for BJ, friends. And keep the battle on your knees.

More tears flowed today for your precious son, but this time they were tears of joy. Although I have never met your son, like so many others, through this I have drawn close to him, and praise be to God, closer to the Lord.
I emailed family and friends back in Australia last night and asked them to keep BJ in their prayers, so he is also being prayed for in the land down under.
Have played worship music all day long, and continually praised God for His faithfullness.
God has used BJ to draw the body of Christ together in unity and that is such a blessing in itself.
I still believe in my spirit that BJ is going to be a walking testamony of God's love, grace, mercy and divine healing power. Your son has the hand of God on him, that is very evident and I look forward to the day when we hear of the wonderful things that BJ will do for the King and His Kingdom.
The Lord has been reminding me all day of a particular scripture.
Isaiah 55:11...... So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth, it shall not return to Me void (without producing any effect, useless) but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Amplified)
Know you are all loved and lifted into the throne room of grace

AMEN!!! As I lie in bed, tring to sleep, i realized that I hadn't checked BJ's updates, prayed and got the computer out and praise our FATHER it was good! HE has some big plans for BJ.
As I read the words of BJ's peers from Awestar I am truly inspired. SometimesI get caught in everyday life and don't seize the oppurtunity to witness, I am now reminded what I should be doing by a living example, via computer, who is 10 yrs younger than me, but 50 yrs older spritually!
Colton continues to pray and asks questions about BJ. Somtimes silly ones like "Mommy, you know April's friend BJ, the one whos sick, what is his favorite color? Other times its ones like, Mommy, why is
BJ sick?
We continue our prayers and are spreading the wordto extended family and friends to do so as well. Praying also that others are touched and inspired as many are! Only God can make one of HIS children spread the word on a situation like this. Thankyou Family, thankyou GOD AMEN! Amen!

Just couldn't sleep. Had to get on the blog.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. My heart rejoices. From reading the posts, there were prayers and worship music playing from all around the world. I can't imagine what it must have sounded like coming before His throne. Prayers and worship music.... God's people in unity..... coming before Him on behalf of our brother. How powerful! That's what it is all about-- worshipping God and reaching out to others. This is what BJ so understands and what his life is about.
We will remain steadfast in prayer as this journey continues. I pray that you are all resting well. May God's strength overflow in your hearts.
We love you all very much.

I thank you, Lord, that you have chosen to demonstrate that you and you alone are the Great Physician. You are in control and your healing power is greater than any human act or instrument, if that is your desire. Please continue your work in BJ's life and provide for every need for Brent, DeAnna, Whitney, and Lauren.
Please make the desires of your heart my desires.
I praise you, my Holy Father.
In Jesus Name, Amen

Good morning! Here's a beautiful idea I learned from a missionary friend of mine... This morning especially, as the hours for worship services travels around the globe, BJ and your family will be carried to the throne of grace on a wave of prayer and praise that circles the globe as well! Sort of like "crowd surfing in the heavenlies"!

" The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS THE BREATH OF LIFE..."
Genesis 2:7

We have been praying for BJ for several weeks. My sister is Evelyn Gilliland. I am Eugenia Milner Henry and my husband is Jim and we have two adult sons, Jim III and Brian.
Our church, North Henry Baptist Church in Stockbridge GA is praying for BJ.
BJ: We lift you up and thank the Lord for all He is doing in your life!!! We give God all the glory.
Our oldest son, Jim, who is now 32, has cystic fibrosis and is in the hospital right now himself. We were told when he was born that he probably would not live very long. He has been in and out of the hospital all his life and he is a walking miracle of God. It has taught us to trust God one step at a time, all the time!!!! HE is the great physician and we thank Him for those He has given to us to care for us on this earth and praise Him especially for those who understand fully that it is all in God's hands!!!
We trust you to His hands!
We pray for you and all your family and all your medical caregiving team. Give them our love!

I pray with you for BJ. I have seen the Lord do marvelous things in my son's life as he was seriously injured in a car accident last January. After several very serious surgeries he is doing well. As our prayer warriors have prayed specifically for Brandon we have seen God's hand at work in his life. I pray that BJ will continue to recover and be able to testify SOON to God's grace.
