update beyond below msg....doctors just decided to postpone to tomorrow am (don't know what time). starting cvvh now...

BJ's procedure will happen at 3ish. They will remove the neck canula (tube) and if the vein isn't too damaged, insert a catheter for the Cvvh (dialysis) machine. He is not urinating and has about 5 liters of excess fluid in his body which is starting to seep into his lungs via the blood vessels. Obviously, this is a problem. The Cvvh will pull impurities off and dispose of them, partially relieving his excess fluid. If they are unsuccessful, they will go to a back up plan involving the 2 tubes still in his legs.

His other stats are at an acceptable level right now, and he has been void of fever most of the day.

Please pray that the vein isn't damaged, and that the surgeon will skillfully negotiate his way through this. Also we don't want bleeding or infection. That reminds me, they have decided to restart him on a low level of Heprin to thin his blood, and not clot off the Cvvh. Pray he does not have bleeding in his chest from the procedure last week, as they had hope not to restart Heprin until tomorrow for safety reasons (prevent internal chest bleeding).

Thank you, beloved of the Lord. I look forward to praising Him together with you one day. Until then, lets do it now!

BJ's dad (Brent)

I'm saying a prayer for you, BJ, and his doctors. We have a good God who feels our anxiety, grief, and fatigue even more than we do...it's so good to have a God who empathizes--we never have to explain to Him our hurts and fears. Amen for all He has done! Blessings of peace, joy, and courage.

I return to your site at least 8 times a day for updates. Throughout the day, and even when I awake at nights I ask the Lord to answer our prayers and give us our desires for physical healing.

While we all ultimately want what Jesus wants, I ask as only a child can of his father, for what I want. I want BJ to be returned to his earthly family.

Thanks so much for the constant updates. I understand how the up and down reports over long periods of time can be disheartening--but they are needed. It's one of the things you can do besides pray and be by your sons side.

Guide the doctors as they do this procedure and help them to make the decisions that are best for BJ. We know that it is hard to know what to do in a case like this. When they restart the blood thinner keep the other surgery site from bleeding.

Hi guys,

Rusty Pickens from X-Church in Tishomingo Oklahoma here. We've been praying along with you all for about two weeks now and I thank you for the constant stream of updates so that we know how he's doing and what to pray for specifically.

To Nick (the above post): That song is awesome and I can't get that last line as Crowder sings it out of my head "Come pull me through".... It's amazing to think that as God created us in His image that BJ's body may be lying there unconcious, but that his spirit may STILL be in continous contact with God! What comfort can be taken in the fact that the God who created us all in the first place has BJ right in the palm of His hand.

I'll leave you with a passage from one of my favorite Psalms (and coincidentally a Mercy Me song from back in the day!):

15 "My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
-Psalm 139 verses 15-16

Father, it's three o'clock and room 2001 at St. Vincent's hospital is buzzing again. I pray that you would make your presence very known as the vascular surgeon works to remove the cannula from Bj's neck. Be near him and hold his hand steady as he performs this intricate surgery, Father.
Jesus, please be close to BJ as this procedure is underway. Give him your peace and allow him to rest so that he is able to recover. Please be present in every fiber of his body, Lord. Keep his numbers steady. We thank you for what you are doing in BJ's life.
Be close to Brent and Deanna, Lauren and Whitney, Father. Wrap your loving arms around them and hold them close as they await the results of this procedure. Thank you for their amazing witness to all of those around them, Father.
We pray all of these things in the precious name of your son, Jesus. Amen.

I wore my prayforbj.com shirt at Indiana State today. It was a really neat experience. So many people asked me about what the shirt was about and who BJ is. I had the amazing opportunity to share BJ's story and the verse on the back. Even one of my professors asked me about the shirt. Several of the people said that they would be praying for BJ as well. Just thought I'd let you know that people here at Indiana State are praying for BJ and know his story.

2 Corinthians 4:7-12

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

Yahweh, Creator of All things, we come to you as the Body of Yahshua we are united and pray in unity with One Voice. If it be your will, we ask you to deliver BJ from this illness that has taken hold of him. We together rebuke every and any evil spirit that might be attacking him and his dear devoted family. You alone have the power of life and death so we come before your throne and ask on behalf of our dear brother BJ. Hear the voices being lifted up from all over the world. We ask that YOU Deliver BJ and make him totally whole renewed in body soul and spirit so that in doing so your name may be magnified throughout the earth. Satan has no choice but to obey and take his evil hand off your chosen servant BJ. We lift our voices and will continue to lift our voices until that moment that BJ rises up made whole. Do we believe you can heal BJ??? The answer is YES! So we will be diligent to surround BJ and his entire family with our love and with the protective and collective arms of the Body of Christ. We thank you dear Lord for the mighty work you are doing in delivering our dear brother. Thank you for using the doctors and nurses to bring about the total and complete restoration of our brother BJ. We believe, we worship and we thank you with all our hearts. Please hear the words of this unworthy brother and sister...Phil and Paula....Let it be dear Lord God...Let it be..!!!

Brent,
WOW what a blessing it was for me to be able to talk to you this morning. As you were updating me on BJ's current status I sensed a calm in your voice that could only come from our Heavenly Father. It gave me an emotional as well as a Spritual high that I have carried with me all day.

Thank you for taking the time to visit with me and as always STILL PRAYING not only for BJ but your entire family. Praying that God will make you aware of His presence with you at all times.

Dear BJ and Higgins Family,

You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Our family is so grateful for your willingness to share this difficult time with us. I find myself reading entries in BJ's journal over and over. It is difficult for me to find the right words to express how awesome it is that BJ is able to use this illness to minister to thousands of people. I do not understand why God has chosen this illness as a way for BJ to minister.. I do know that BJ was prepared. He has helped many people years older than he to understand God's plan and purpose for our lives.
In the past several weeks I have often thought about BJ and Jonathan when they were in kindergarten at TCA. I am so glad that they have kept in touch these last 10 years. As a family, we are extremely blessed that God has allowed us to know all of you.

God Bless,
Kathy Haag
