The clock is ticking at a very slow speed today. As we near the 2:00 pm hour. The surgical team is assembling in his room, and will begin shortly to surgically remove the clotted blood to allow his left lung to expand. They will also add a central line for adding meds into his system.

Somwhere in the next 9 to 12 hours (they approximate) they will take him off ECMO. His blood pressure did stabilize, with very little of the BP meds still being infused (what a huge answer to prayer!!!). However, because of the positive fungus culture he still has to come off ECMO.

Will let you know more as soon as we can...

Thanks for your continued prayer support,

BJ's dad

Heavenly Father we pray just now that you will be with the surgeon who prepares to remove this mass. We continue to thank you for keeping BJ strong enough to have endured all that he has. We ask you now for more strength and endurance. Thank you so much that his blood pressure has stabilized and we trust you that when the ECMO is turned off, BJ will be sustained. God you are the designer of our bodies and all the intricate parts inside of us so we know that you have this situation under control. I pray for Brent and Deanna while they sit and wait. I pray that Scriptures will come to their mind to help encourage and comfort them. To You be all glory and honor and praise.

Psalm 139:1-18

1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.
5 You hem me in—behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,"
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake,
I am still with you.

Still praying! I ask that as BJ is going into the surgery for the blood clot removal and as he is taking off of the ECMO that his body will maintain itself and will be able to withstand the changes. Lord, we know that you are the great healer and we pray that you will heal BJ.

I can't get BJ off my mind today, I will continue to lift him up in prayer that he will be able to stay off the ecmo machine and start to heal, that the medication will be able to attack the fungus in his body and that his lungs will refill. Praise God for these prayers being answered one by one. Let's all keep praying that the Lord will hear our prayers and heal BJ as only He can do. We will pray for wisdom for the doctors and staff. What a witness your family has been to those in the hospital and the staff. May God bless you in a mighty way.
Our love and prayers,
Glen and Jean in Santa Claus

I'm praying and praying constantly! Our God is so huge and He loves us so. Nothing comes to us that hasn't passed through His filter of love. I know that the God who created the Heavens and the earth will continue to hear our prayers and will continue to sustain you as He moves among us and through this valley WITH you. Father God, show us your GLORY in a HUGE way. May we see significant, significant improvement during the next several hours. We love you Jesus and continue to give you the glory, and honor, and power. Amen!

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God sustain and heal BJ as he goes through all of these procedures, and may each of you sense God's presence as you wait.

We had special prayer for BJ this afternoon in my seminary class here at ATS.

Love you all,
Becky

STAY STRONG. Praying for all of you hard. I thought I would share this song again.

IN HIM
Jonathan Haag

In Me
by Casting Crowns
album: Lifesong (2005)
If you ask me to leap out of my boat on the crashing waves
If you ask me to go preach to a lost world that Jesus saves

I'll go but I cannot go alone
Cause I know I'm nothing on my own
But the power of Christ in me makes me strong
Makes me strong

Cause when I'm weak, You make me strong
When I'm blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I'll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don't need me
How amazing to find that You want me
So I'll stand on Your truth, and I'll fight with Your strength
Until you being the victory, by the power of Christ in me

If you ask me to run
And carry Your light into foreign land
If you ask me to fight
Deliver Your people from satan's hand

To reach out with Your hands
To learn through Your eyes
To love with the love of a savior
To feel with your Your heart
And to think with Your mind
I'd give my last breath for Your glory

Dear Father, give the doctors the wisdom to know your perfect timing in removing BJ from the ecmo machine. I know you can work a miracle in this, and we call on you now to show us one as a witness to your power, might, and glory. You have been so faithful in the past 20 days and we praise you for all you have already allowed to take place in BJ's body. Give him the strength to continue to fight. Be with Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney---they need your strength, comfort, peace, and rest. Wrap your arms around them, draw them close, let them feel your power. In Your Mighty Name We Pray

I am Drew Burlingame's aunt. Ever since my sis called (Drew's mom) and told me about BJ, God has given me such a passion and heart to pray for this extraordinary young man! I am checking every day and do pray continuously. I get the sense that this is a real spiritual battle for BJ's life. I tried to post a comment a day or two ago and never saw it, so I'm trying again.
