What happens in BJ's body tonight will determine his ability to stay on ECMO for additional healing. Tonight the doctors will turn down the blood pressure medications BJ is receiving in order to determine whether the secondary infection is under control. If his blood pressure normalizes on its own, without the medication, they will know that infection is no longer a complication. This will buy more time on the ECMO machine for his lungs to continue to heal. However, if his blood pressure continues to suffer without the medication, the infection is in his bloodstream. They will have to take him off of ECMO so as not to further damage his lungs by pumping infected blood into them. If this is the case, they will discontinue ECMO either tomorrow or Friday.

Sometime in the midst of this, the thoracic surgeon will come in to remove the clotted mess in BJ's chest cavity in order for his left lung to have more room to expand.

The above link was prepared by BJ's AweStar friends, those he traveled with on his two past mission trips. This site talks about what BJ did in Peru, and contains stories about him written by his friends.

Thank you all for your continued prayers,
Lauren

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed."

Smokie Norful sings a beautiful song which includes the following verse:
Tell me who can make a mountain move out of my way?
And who can make a miracle, just because of my faith?
And when the doctors all say 'no', who can still say 'yes'?
And when I am in trouble who's right there beside me to help me pass every test?
GOD IS ABLE! GOD IS ABLE! GOD IS ABLE, AND HE WON'T FAIL!

I am praying for BJ's health and strength; praying for his family's health and strength; and that God will be with all of you during this time to deliver these things along with his other blessings.

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me

He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way

I'll be praying *especially* tonight.

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney and BJ--

We will be praying that Bj's infection clears up overnight and that he is able to stay on the ECMO machine. We continue to pray for strength and encouragement for all of you during this exhausting and trying time.

Lauren, I found it interesting that you chose to include the verse from 1 Peter chapter 4. When I was doing my devotions in N. Ireland I came accross that verse and wanted to share it with you all. I can't wait to be overjoyed when God's glory is revealed.

Beej, we love you. Keep strong.

All our love, hugs nad kisses,

Nate and Amy

Hey guys! Still praying for all of you! I just wanted to let you know that word is still getting out about BJ and more people are praying. I've herd several conversations at my high school about BJ, so I'm hoping they will come to this site and see BJ's testimony and be changed. Please stay strong and be encouraged knowing that people are still praying and that we haven't forgotten. Know that we love you and we are in this with you all the way! Love you!

This in a response to an email I sent out to some friends and I just thought I would share it with you all!

"I'm praying for BJ...actually I don't really know the medical words and BJ's condition on his page, since those words are too difficult for me to understand, but I know I should pray for him because you are praying for him so strongly. I know he needs us to pray.

(she is from Japan still learning English and "our culture" ;-D)

I just thought it was encouraging so I thought I would share that with you!

BRENT, DEANNA,
WE ARE STILL LIFTING BJ UP TO OUR LORD HERE IN SANTA CLAUS AND AT HERITAGE HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH. WE PRAY THAT BJ WILL BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND ALL THAT NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS AND THAT HIS BODY WILL MAKE A TURNAROUND THAT WILL JUST BE UNBELIVABLE EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO TRUST IN THE LORD. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AS YOU LONG TO HOLD YOUR SON IN YOUR ARMS. WE PRAY FOR REST FOR YOU AND STRENGTH FOR TOMORROW AS WE WAIT ONE DAY AT A TIME. MY COMPUTER WAS DOWN TODAY AND I REALIZED HOW MUCH I NEEDED TO CHECK ON BJ. I AM SO HAPPY IT'S UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH HIS ALMIGHTY PRESENCE AND PEACE.

Hello,
I was in my quiet time this morning and I ran across this verse that really made me think of BJ. I immediatly took it as he may need my prayers right then so I just stopped what I was doing and prayed for BJ and your family. I cant imagine what you guys are going through! I am so encouraged by your faith and strength.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Just remember this verse when things get rough! I am praying for you guys constantly.
Much love,
Tiffany Jessie

We have been praying today for you to feel the strong and loving arms of Jesus holding you close, reassuring you of His companionship with you during this time. How very much He loves you that He wants to absorb your pain and worry and fill you with His constant love.

There is so much that has already been said, time and time again. It is frustrating to feel so much yet have so little solace to share with you in your very personal situation.

How wonderful it is that our Lord transcends those very human feelings and supplies your needs in the most individual and personally directed way possible!

If it is any comfort, you are lovingly lifted up to our Father by us and so very many other caring brothers and sisters in the most fervant prayers possible.

May you feel the strong arms of Jesus sharing your burden and comforting you and BJ through all difficulties and pain.

BJ,
Thank you for your journal. Your thoughts are deep and challenging. Your words are so expressive and articulate. You have such an understanding and insight into scriptures and what the Christian life is truly about. Your journal entries causes one to stop, think and do some re-evaluating. Thank you for your words that come from your heart.
Know that we are praying fervently for you and your family.
You are loved by so many,

Brenda F.

Brent, Deanna, Whitney, Lauren,
We are with you all in our thoughts and prayers. May you rest well tonight is my prayer. We continue on praying to our Father.

I hope the words to this song will bring comfort to you.
Come ye sinners, poor and needy
Weak and wounded, sick and sore
Jesus ready stands to save you
Full of pity, love, and power
Come ye thirsty, come and welcome
God's free bounty glorify
True belief and true repentance
Every grace that brings you nigh
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
Oh, there are ten thousand charms
Come ye weary, heavy-laden
Lost and ruined by the fall
If you tarry until you're better
You will never come at all

Praying for you.... jenny

I could not sleep, the LORd wanted me to get up and pray for BJ.
Lord I am obedient to your call and lifting Bj up to you.Regulate his blood pressure , clear his lungs and cleanse his blood. You are the all powerful andknowing God and I come to you asking for Bj. Lord in your word you told us to ask and stand in the gap. Bj can't ask so I am doing it for him. REnew his blood cells and lungs that his body may rest and heal and become strong so he can go and bring souls to your kindom.
I also lift up his family Lord give them peace and strenght through this time. Send ministring angels to help them.
I ask that you give the drs the wisdom in this situation.
Lord thank you for the progress that bj's body has made.
Thank you Lord for letting us know Bj's heart for you. Amen
