The ECMO circuit change is complete, and though Beej's numbers suffered this time during the changeover, they have rebounded. They have increased his breathing treatments to once per hour to reduce wheezing in his lungs. We must now wait and see how things develop.

Medical staff are starting to suction his lungs once every 4 hours. They hope to wean him off of blood pressure meds, and eradicate the fungus.

Lord, may you receive all of the glory for the ministry that is occurring, the hearts that are being touched/changed, and the improvement in prayer lives that that transcend my ability to comprehend. I do not understand how you are moving...only that you are, and I thank you. You are my King!

You have blessed us...

I prayed for B.J. this morning as I was donating platelets at the Regional Blood Center - I pray that there is no lack of any medical supplies or medicine that B.J. needs to recover. Glad to hear the ecmo changeover went well.

Love you all,

Lord I thank you for the small improvement from last night. I pray that now that the fungi has been identified that you will help the doctors to discover the best treatment for it. I thank you for the successful change of the ECMO. I have been reading in Job about how you allowed Satan to test Job in so many ways, but still Job served you. I also pray for Whitney and Lauren. I know that it must be very hard for them to concentrate in school, but i ask that you will comfort them and that you will give them the strength and rest that they need for school and for their parents to have continued and renewed strength today as they stay at the hospital with their son.

I'm so glad to hear that it went well, and know that I'll be praying for you all. I have an interesting story to tell you. About two weeks ago, I was putting all my rubber stamps away in the garage. Two stamps from an alphabet set fell out of the box, and I bent down to pick them up. My jaw dropped when I saw that they were the letters "BJ" were lying on the ground in front of me. God reminded me to pray. Things like that have been happening ever since. I linked this blog to my own, (to ask others to pray) and every time I stop by, I see it and am reminded to pray.

We sent a prayer request for you guys to our church secretary, and she sent it out to the whole prayer chain. Know that your brothers and sisters in western Washington are praying for you. God is working wonderful things through all of this, and you can know that many are greatly encouraged by your faith.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in
trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give
way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though
its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their
surging. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be
exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our
fortress.

Dear Higgins Family,
My name is Theresa and I am a friend of Ashley Reagan's. AShley recently wrote to me and told me about your amazing family. I just wanted to let you know that me, my family, friends, and pastors are praying for you. Everyone that I have told about you has been utterly amazed at your strength and faithfulness, and I want to encourage you to keep that faith, no matter what happens.
Prayer can move mountains, so please know that there is a group of us all the way up here in New Hampshire that are continuously keeping you in prayer and are waiting anxiously to see the date that BJ will be going home to you.

In Him,
Theresa T.

When I was first introduced to your family via email I was going through a trying time in my own life. I was begining to feel sorry for myself, and was not putting my trust in God as I know I should. Reading your updates daily has given me a new perspective. Your undying faith is an inspiration. BJ, and your entire family are in my prayers constantly. BJ- even in your time of suffering, and even in your silence, you are ministering Gods word. You continue to spread His light in the darkness. Though I have never even met you you have touched my life.....God is certainly woking through you.

Dear Brent & Deanna:

My prayer today is for you both, as you struggle with this life-altering situation. Minute by minute is a very difficult way to live. God, please provide comfort and strength (emotional, physical and spiritual) to Brent & Deanna. Help them through these difficult times of such uncertainty. Wrap them in your loving arms and please provide a sense of peace that can only come from you. Help them through this day. I pray for continued strengthening of BJ's body. In your precious Son's name we pray. Amen.

Dear God,
Sometimes I just don't have the words to say. It's at those times that I'm glad that You know what I'm thinking and feeling, without me having to verbalize it. You know how much I want You to heal my brother. But You also know how much I trust you to do what will bring You glory. God, I come before You and humble myself at your feet. It is here that I remember that you are in controll. I humbly, but bodly, ask for BJ's healing. Please take away this fungus from his blood. Just make him whole. Heal his lungs completely and quickly so that the doctors can quickly take him off of the ECMO. I pray that through this whole situation, You would hold and comfort everyone who is touched by it. Teach us how to trust You more and more. We thank You, our Hope, our Refuge, our King.

It's in the powerful name of
Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen

I love you guys sooo much.

We are missionaries in Ecuador who are praying for BJ and trust that God will continue to be glorified in every moment through our faith and trust in Him.

Dear Higgins family,
We just Praise Him for allowing this website! It has been an awesome tool for information, prayer, and encouragement so we can praise Him, see His Glory, and petition on your behalf in prayer.
Psalm 139 reminds us of the incredible source our God! He IS all-powerful, ever-present, all-knowing, all-seeing God! He has allowed this body to feel His touch of Love through a bounty of hugs. He has given periods of restful compassion on days of good reports and He has burden the body of believers to pray in petition for your family when rough waters have prevailed.
We praise Him for the medical staff He has gathered to tend to BJ and continue to pray for their strength, wisdom, and courage.
Praying for you all daily and sending our Love to you all. God Bless, with great love, Ann, Steve, Kelly, Kendall, Allison and Zack Parker

Brent, Deanna, BJ, Lauren & Whitney-
Prayers are continuing down here in Mooresville. Glad the ecmo exchange is finished and he is ok.
Will continue praying for all the specific things needed for BJ's recovery, and for strength for the rest of you. I have been amazed at all the different blogs from around the world. And it struck me today as I was watching more of the hurricane coverage that people are crying out for ministers at the various shelters. The world is desperate for people like BJ, we all need people like BJ. And we don't have to have a degree behind our name, we just need to share the word of God. We just need to open our mouths. BJ did and he has made such a huge difference in many people's lives.
I know I need to look at myself and the missed opportunities to witness to people. The world is crying out to hear the word. I pray God keeps using BJ as a "role model" for what a true follower should be. We need many more like him. Thanks for sharing BJ with us, it has made a big difference in many lives. I pray for a quiet evening for all of you and BJ's continued recovery. Take care.
Love, Nancy

Father in heaven, You are an awesome God, loving and compassionate. Nothing is impossible with You. You are Jehovah Rapha - I AM HEALER! - So, in the name and power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we ask You to be BJ's Healer, that You will be glorified in his complete recovery. Thank you, Jesus, for bearing our sin and disease on the tree, for the free gift of salvation and healing.
Thank you BJ is whole, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Father,
As weary as we get, I praise You because You never weary or grow tired. I ask that You would give BJ's body the strength to continue fighting and healing. Give His family endurance. Purify our hearts through this trial, unify Your body. We love you, and count every day that we walk with You a joy. No matter what we face, we are satisfied in You. Thank You Father

Elger Esquivel Translation...

Hi my name is Elger Esquivel Gallardo and I am from the City of Trujillo. Well, I am just writing to encourage you in the love of the Lord and that you might know that I am praying for BJ that he would get better. The church where I go is praying also, fervently, for BJ and his family. It has been a pleasure to have worked with BJ these 3 years in Peru and it has been a blessing in my life and the lives of many here in Peru have been blessed. The students of the Tox Cox Baptist Seminary are also praying for BJ. I leave you now in the love of the Lord.
