BJ continues to be a bit resposnive this morning. When he hears our voices, he moves his head or bats the one eye that isn't swollen shut. He had a restful night. We have been filling his ears with the prayers of God's people, and trying to relay the enormity of this situation. I know I don't understand it, so I doubt in his groggy state that he does. Nonetheless it is encouraging to share with him.

His yeast infection culture has not come back positive again, yet. Blood cultures are constantly allowed to grow and are monitored in the lab. If it is truly negative, we should know by this evening. Please pray it remains negative. He needs to rest and heal, not fight more infections. Please pray for significant improvement of his lungs so that further reductions can be made on his ventilator and ECMO gear.

Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you that since I cannot hug him, I often touch his face or stroke his head. While he was communicating with his eye, I asked if he liked it when I did this. He indicated a clear "NO" with his eye. I told him that I was sorry, but since I could not hug him, I had to do something. (Lauren thinks he was trying to tell me the opposite...regardless, it made for a humorous moment for us).

HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!

Thank you for your continued concern and prayer support.

Brent, Deanna & Girls
I know we haven't blogged for a couple days, but we haven't stopped praying for you. We went to Holiday World with the Littell's yesterday and we prayed for BJ during dinner. He has still been on the front of our minds. We tell almost everyone we know about BJ - we prayed for him at my mom & dad's church yesterday morning, and when we mentioned him, most of the people there already knew his story. Wow - it amazes me how many people are praying for you Beej. We are praying for strength for you you ALL, and will pray specifically that the yeast infection is negative and that the ECMO can be turned down more. We love you all so much!

Love,
Todd, Jes & Andrew Y.

Hi, Guys! Thank you for the update. Praise the Lord you are able to correspond with BJ! He appreciates that you're there--he just can't express it! I am glad to read that you are finding humor. I can't live without humor!

I will pray that the yeast infection continues to be negative!

In His love,

Christina

Good morning
It's good to hear that you are able to communicate with BJ a little more each day! I had to chuckle at him not liking your form of affection as I think of how his hair is always perfect and VERY stiff :) Maybe Lauren is right and he does like it. Glad you all are able to laugh a little. We will pray today that the cultures come back negative and his lungs will show GREAT healing. We love you!!!!!!!

Hi Brent, Deanna, Lauren & Whitney,

I gave an update on B.J. in our weekly Morgan County Gideons prayer meeting this morning, and we prayed for all of you. There's some great prayer warriors at this meeting. We think of you VERY often - We praise God for the witness your whole family is to all who know you. We pray that you have a great Labor Day, too!

Love,

Good Morning Higgins's! What an encouraging morning. John and I will be in prayer for you today. We have shared BJ's story every where we go and with many people. Many prayers are going up for him in Tennessee. I was just thinking what a wonderful witness for Jesus you are to the hospital staff and those around you who may be going through something similiar. Sometimes we have no idea who our witness is reaching, but your giving God the glory for it all and He will use it to touch many. I love the notes you post from Brent and the girls. I am praying for Deanna, and hope she is much encouraged and finding more strength everyday. As parents it is so hard to see our children suffer and not be able to fix it for them, especially as a Momma. Your all in our hearts. Love & Miss You, Marlena & Bro. John

Brent, Deanna, Lauren, Whitney & BJ-
It's nice to have a light moment with BJ and have him communicate with you, I can relate, I don't like anyone stroking my hair, either! Keeping all of you in our prayers, hoping the yeast culture remains negative. Yoú're right, he doesn't need to fight anymore infections right now. Also praying that his lungs quickly get stronger so he can get off all life support asap. Thinking about the girls and praying for them as they continue with their schoolwork. I hope you two are getting enough rest, stay strong.

Love, Nancy

You, BJ's family, have been such an example to me. In such a hard time you have clung to God and are finding strength in Him. Your integrity is inspiring.
I will continue to pray for you and Bj and for the lost of this world. That is especially where BJ's heart lies and I know he would want for everyone to be praying for the lost as fervently as we are for him.
May the Lord continue to bless you and comfort you,
love,
Brittany Allen

Happy Labor Day to you all! It is no surprise that in this time of difficulty that you are continuing to think of others and wish us well during a holiday when we all look at ending the summer, resting, relaxing and spending time with our family and friends. I hope that we all take a moment during this day and tell those in our lives how much we love them and as simply stated from Brent to "give a hug" or just a gentle touch to those we care about. It's amazing what a simple touch of affection can do for all of us. BJ is a perfect example of that.
Katelyn and Holly continue to pray for BJ at all hours of the day. WOW! How blessed that Matt and I feel that our children have such a positive role model to look up to. Speaking of a role model, most of us look to role models as those who are older than us, who experience life events before us and help us on our journey. As we were driving home from last Wednesday's service, Matt made a comment to me that Reeeally stuck with me and it goes to show that those we look up to can be of all ages(especially when we allow God to use them as role models!) As you know, Matt STRUGGLES with wearing PINK!! On the way home, the girls were disappointed that they had to order their PINK shirts instead of getting them at the church. I teasingly looked at Matt and asked "why didn't he get a pink shirt?" I commented that it was for BJ and he shouldn't allow PINK to get in the way! haha!! The girls both gave him a hard time and we all laughed about it. As we continued home, the girls were sleepy and not talking much. Both Matt and I were beginning to wind down and it was quiet in the truck when Matt looked over at me and was serious and simply said " I don't want a shirt that says pray for BJ, I want a shirt that says "I know BJ" It hit me right there, WOW me too!! As I said, that's a 36 year old(almost 37) haha seeing the love of Jesus through a young teenage boy who loves the Lord and is witnessing to all old and young. What a blessing to us all. We continue to lift your family up to the one who always has open arms for his children.

Much Love,
Rebecca Littell
p.s. Brent, when we get back to small groups can we get Matt a camouflage "I know BJ shirt"!?

Oh Lord Jesus, I just come to you with such a humble heart. You created the heavens and the earth and you created BJ. Father, I just pray that you would touch BJ in such a mighty way that there would be significant, significant improvement today. Lord, though I don't know this young one, he is my brother and my spirit grieves for this family and the mountains they are climbing. Please Jesus, show us your glory in a huge way. A way that ONLY YOU can accomplish. We continue to give you all the glory and honor and praise. Father, we just pray that the cultures would come back negative and that there would be healing. Lord Jesus, let there be good news this afternoon for this precious family. Lord their faith has been so strong and unwavering and it is nothing but YOU through them. Lord, we love you and we lift this up to you. In Jesus HOLY name we pray, Amen.

Hello, My name is Anna Vaughn and I have heard from other HLG students about BJ's condition. I have been with Awe Star a couple of different times. I don't personally know BJ and have never met him but I feel like I know him because of all the prayers going around campus right now for him-let him now that I say "Hi!" I just want to encourage you during this time and let you know that my prayers are with you. The Lord already knows what is going to happen and to know that has always been encouraging for me to think about. I love you all and you will continue to be in my prayers! Because of His Love, Anna Vaughn

All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell.
For I know whate'er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.
