Just a brief update...we are told that beej won't come off of ECMO until tomorrow (9/9/05), so that his lung will have opportunity to re-expand overnight. He is still on blood pressure meds (low doses), and his numbers are stable for now.

Have a restful night.

I'll be praying that God will touch his lung during these night hours and strengthen his body for the procedure tomorrow. I am also praying for all of you that God will give you peace and rest through the night as He holds you in His almighty and loving arms.

Love,
Becky

My mom works at St. V's and has told me about your trials. Just want you to know I'm praying for you, and that you're being a light to all the staff at the hospital up there. They can see the difference. Stay strong. God will bring you through.
In Him,

I just can't stop thinking and praying for you guys. Even though I've never met BJ, I think he'd find it pretty cool that so many Christians--across denominations, across borders, across continents and languages--are uniting to lift him up in prayer. To his family, rest easy tonight, knowing that there are so many lifting you and BJ up to the God who not only knows our needs, but has all the resources and power to meet those needs. Much love in Christ.

Lord, we just keep coming back asking for more, and asking for more. And the sweet thing about it, is that you want us to do that...not like the parents we are who get frustrated when our kids keep asking for stuff. Thank you for inviting us to ask and ask and ask for more. So tonight I ask you to give Brent and Deanna rest. I ask you to strengthen BJ's lung and let it expand and contract and get stronger and stronger. Thank you for loving this young man and sustaining him thus far. Lord we know you have a plan for him.
Please provide rest through the nighttime hours. In the name of the Prince of Peace I pray.
Amen

Psalm 63:1-8

1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

Dear Higgins Family,

Remember there are others who will be lifting BJ and the rest of you the Father tonight, even as you try to get some rest. Let our prayers carry you. We love you, even those of us who have never met you.

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Heb. 4:16

Dear Heavenly Father, tonight we are approaching the throne of grace with confidence trusting that you will pour out your mercy and grace on BJ and his family. We are so grateful that you invite us to come to you in this manner and that you delight to answer our prayers. Boldly, as your children, we ask for complete healing and restoration for BJ. We are standing on tiptoe with expectation to see what you are going to do. Thank you, Lord. Amen

Checking the web site late at night and PRAYING FOR BJ and his family. Oh Lord, give to your beloved in their sleep. Please give each one Your peaceful rest through these hours. Thank You that You are such a loving Father who delights to hear our requests. Thank You that You alone have all power and authority. Thank You that BJ's lung has this extra time to reinflate. Thank You that You can use doctors and nurses and all kinds of technology--but You can also work above, beyond and without any of these. Thank You that BJ's great need and incredible testimony of grace are drawing so many so much closer to You. Thank You that we have the privilege of joining with brothers and sisters in prayer for this precious family. Thank you that we can pray in your Son's holy name,

"So we're not giving up. How could we? Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, The Message)
