THERE IS AN ARTICLE ON BJ AT www.md-times.com When the page comes up, the article button is to the right and below the picture of a boy.

Deanna had a very busy, but good day at school yesterday. She received support from staff, parents and students alike. As one of her music classes came into her room, each student had to have a hug! Perhaps the most precious response was from a special needs young man who seldom talks. After showing her the 'owies' on his knees, he said, "I am sorry about your son." Deanna was blessed.

Isn't it just like our God to minister to our needs and touch us so deeply, in this way?! Deanna has taught music to this young man going on 3 years. Two years ago, they had a very rocky beginning. Respect must be earned. Deanna's gentle spirit goes a long way in reaching students.

Deanna's gentle spirit is also Christlike. BJ's favorite book of the Bible, I Peter, says in chapter 3:4 ..."the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit...is of great worth in God's sight." Deanna, you are of great worth in God's sight! He loves you so much, and has chosen to use your gifts with children. I am thankful that you have returned to the classroom. I know they need you.

When BJ was about 10, he gave his mother a heart necklace, a cz ring and a poem. The necklace has remained around her neck since she received it. The ring seldom leaves her finger. The poem, though a bit wrinkled from age is one she will always cherish:

"Mom,

You're a rose in the garden of my heart,
With love, I'll keep the weeds away,
In my heart where Christ resides,
So shall you forever stay.

I hope you like this rose from my heart,
This heart from my mind,
I hope you like this Christmas present,
From the heart of mine."

BJ adored his mother. Deanna will always adore her one and only son.

I am blessed to be able to love them both.

dad

Linda, we would love to meet you when we're in Ok.

A sweet and most fitting tribute from BJ--and from Brent. It's obvious that BJ had a loving and powerful bond with his mom, his dad and his Lord. May He guide and guard all the Higgins today as you go your various ways. I'm asking Him to continue speaking to you in many and various ways to remind you constantly of how loved and "held" you are.

Dear Ones,
Although at times I am not able to express myself as I blog, I want you all to know how much I admire, appreciate, and love you. I don't know why God has given us the priveledge of the relationship we have, but I thank Him for that blessing. I think and pray for you and your needs daily, and cherish the times we spend together.

To Lauren and Whitney, even though we don't get to see or talk to you as much as we would like, just know you are in our thoughts and hearts.

I will try to improve how to relate what I want to say as I blog. (as you know I only have one love language)

I know there are lots of prayer warriors out there.. I just recieved a request from a friend, her friend's son was shot in the head while in combat over in Falujah.
His name is Chad, he was in fatal condition and has now been upgraded to stable critical. His parents are on standby to fly out to washington from Texas and then to Germany, where they will be with him as soon as he is stable enough to be flown..
Thank You and I know this family will be incredibly greatful for all the prayers..

Thank you again for sharing your precious memories. I would like to ask one thing of ya'll and of all the Bloggers. Please keep the Gulf Coast in your prayers this week. I know that everyone down here is just plain exhausted from dealing with these hurricanes and their aftermath. Wilma is one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded. This seems to be the Hurricane season for breaking records. Please pray that God will be glorified through this, and that if it's His will, could Hurricane Wilma just go away? Thank you from all your Brothers and Sisters on the Gulf Coast.

Love Ya!

Brent & Deanna, continuing to keep you before the throne. What an honor to be able to pray for you each day. Deanna, what sweet stories you had to share last night about your kids - isn't God awesome! He brought more hugs than you ever thought possible; and what a special blessing with the special needs child!
It was so good to share a meal with you last night and to hear you laugh a little. (even though it was at my husband's expense!) The fellowship of our group grows sweeter each time we meet. May we continue to grow deeper and stronger in commitment and service as well.

Whitney and Lauren - we miss seeing you!!! Know that you are ever in our thoughts and prayers and that we are sending "long-distance" hugs!!

mom, dad, and sisters,
I have not commented in a little while, as I have been busy. Senior year is over taking the freedom I once had. If I haven't shared with you, I will share with you now. My dad is a insurance ajuster and so last year was his first time to go out in to the state of Florida and help people get their lives back in order, or atleast their houses. He was gone 6 months and wasn't home for all the activities I was in from the first of September to th end of March. In, that time my papa died(his dad) two days before christmas. It was hard, but at the same time it was joyful. I had never seen my dad so emotional until then. There was nothing I could do.
Everytime my dad comes home for a short visit and then leaves I feel abandonment. I rest and find comfort in the Lord everytime, knowing that I will once be with my dad again. Maybe here on earth and in heaven.
Just as you say, "we've been a blessing to you". you've been a blessing to me. Your whole families faith through this. I hope God will one day allow me to meet with the parents of the boy who impacted my life sooooo much through this blog!

I love you Higgins Family!!!!

I was doing good not crying. I read the blog about the dog. That night I went in and hugged my dog and smelled his smell and there were the tears all over again. Today's blog really spoke to my heart. So now I'm back to crying every day. But it's not just for Beej but how good our Lord is to us too. Still praying for you.

Deanna,

I too have a son and I know how hard it is to have lost him. You know we never ever know when God is going to take our children. I know u know that these children are not ours, they are his. He can take them at any time he wants too. I do know that he is your only son, and I know he will forever be missed. Boys are so much closer to there moms and so i know that if and when God takes my only son it will be devistating. I will pray for you that you will find peace and strength each and every day. God bless you, Deanna.

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our
own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is
doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that
money can't buy.

Brent and Deanna, How precious to read the love a son has for his mother. Bj loved his mom because of the love of his earthly father has for his wife. .Also, the love of christ that BJ had flowed out to his family. There is none greater than to have the love of your children. I am glad that Deanna had a good day and hope that you Brent has too. Whitney and Lauren, we are thinking of you too and are praying for the whole family. rc

Dearest Higgins family,
We are so proud of the courage you all share with us, day by day. Yes, Brent, I understand your anger; but God knows your anger, and understands it; He was angered at the temple, and knows our emotion. We must allow Him to convert our anger, back into positive energy! As I go through disappointing changes at work, the loss of my Aunt and neighbor (I'm still angry that she gave up on life, without asking for help), I know that I must carry on, and remember Colossians 3:23; regardless what I do, I do it for His glory. I may not like it, but if I try, God creeps in, and makes it a more pleasant effort! I cannot allow my sadness to cloud His vision, and allow me to miss the next blessing! Jan and I are honored to know you as the second chosen couple of God; the first being Joseph & Mary, and now you, as the parents of a young boy, who was constantly in His Father's house! Can't wait to see where BJ's work will lead us!! Good for you, Deanna, to get back to the love of your students! Eat it up! Find comfort in all those little ones who love you, the same way that BJ has! Love him, through them!! We're here for you; ready for ice cream, for a walk, for whatever you need!

With all our love and prayers,
Jan & Teresa

As I sit here with my son, my heart just wrenches. We visit the blog everyday to see how you are doing. He (My son, age 5) has been praying for BJ since he got sick and still thanks God for BJ in his prayers. He just asked me the hardest question for me to answer. It was easier for me to explain that BJ went to Heaven.

.... He was looking at BJ's pic and he said, Mommy, why did BJ have to get sick?

His Mommy couldn't answer him.

We have been praying for you all as you go back to work and school. I am so thankful that Mrs. Higgins had a good day. I pray that wach day gets better and the kiddos are well behaved for you.
Praying for y'all as you get ready to go to OKlahoma. I know y'all are going to inspire so many with your presence.
Love,
Beacause of HIM
