THERE IS AN ARTICLE ON BJ AT www.md-times.com When the page comes up, the article button is to the right and below the picture of a boy.
Deanna had a very busy, but good day at school yesterday. She received support from staff, parents and students alike. As one of her music classes came into her room, each student had to have a hug! Perhaps the most precious response was from a special needs young man who seldom talks. After showing her the 'owies' on his knees, he said, "I am sorry about your son." Deanna was blessed.
Isn't it just like our God to minister to our needs and touch us so deeply, in this way?! Deanna has taught music to this young man going on 3 years. Two years ago, they had a very rocky beginning. Respect must be earned. Deanna's gentle spirit goes a long way in reaching students.
Deanna's gentle spirit is also Christlike. BJ's favorite book of the Bible, I Peter, says in chapter 3:4 ..."the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit...is of great worth in God's sight." Deanna, you are of great worth in God's sight! He loves you so much, and has chosen to use your gifts with children. I am thankful that you have returned to the classroom. I know they need you.
When BJ was about 10, he gave his mother a heart necklace, a cz ring and a poem. The necklace has remained around her neck since she received it. The ring seldom leaves her finger. The poem, though a bit wrinkled from age is one she will always cherish:
"Mom,
You're a rose in the garden of my heart,
With love, I'll keep the weeds away,
In my heart where Christ resides,
So shall you forever stay.
I hope you like this rose from my heart,
This heart from my mind,
I hope you like this Christmas present,
From the heart of mine."
BJ adored his mother. Deanna will always adore her one and only son.
I am blessed to be able to love them both.
dad
Linda, we would love to meet you when we're in Ok.

Thank you Lord for giving Deanna a good day at work.
One day at a time.....praying for you today.
A sweet and most fitting tribute from BJ--and from Brent. It's obvious that BJ had a loving and powerful bond with his mom, his dad and his Lord. May He guide and guard all the Higgins today as you go your various ways. I'm asking Him to continue speaking to you in many and various ways to remind you constantly of how loved and "held" you are.

Dear Ones,
Although at times I am not able to express myself as I blog, I want you all to know how much I admire, appreciate, and love you. I don't know why God has given us the priveledge of the relationship we have, but I thank Him for that blessing. I think and pray for you and your needs daily, and cherish the times we spend together.
To Lauren and Whitney, even though we don't get to see or talk to you as much as we would like, just know you are in our thoughts and hearts.
I will try to improve how to relate what I want to say as I blog. (as you know I only have one love language)

Thank you for sharing the poem...it has touched my heart. What a sweet young man.
I know there are lots of prayer warriors out there.. I just recieved a request from a friend, her friend's son was shot in the head while in combat over in Falujah.
His name is Chad, he was in fatal condition and has now been upgraded to stable critical. His parents are on standby to fly out to washington from Texas and then to Germany, where they will be with him as soon as he is stable enough to be flown..
Thank You and I know this family will be incredibly greatful for all the prayers..

Deanna I was so happy to read this morning of your day yesterday. God is so faithful hearing our prayers that we lift up to Him on your behalf, and He truely blessed you and in doing so He also blessed us, your "blog family". I pray that He continues to bless you with these gems.
God has certainly been at work within me in the past few weeks. He has given me such a deep peace with the situation with Hollie, a peace that I know if I had tried in human ways would not have ever been achieved.
Isn't it wonderful when we pray Lord use me as You choose, then the opportunity is opened up to you?
I am so thankful that the Lord patiently waited 43 years for me to hear His sweet still voice and respond to His call of salvation. In the past 5 years He has turned my life upside down and inside out and I wouldn't have it any other way. I know without Him I would be lost, and He has placed deep within me a passion to point others to the love of Jesus.
Thank you family for sharing Beej and his life, for your life and struggles, through this we all drew and continue to draw ever closer to our heavenly Father.
Father God, thank You Lord for reminding us that there are others in this world who so desperately need you,Lord continue to burden us with their needs so that we may pray for them to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Thank You Lord that You love us more than we can ever imagine or deserve. Lord thank You for the Ministry that You have placed with the Higgins family, may You bless it and them as they continue to follow after You.
Lord I ask that today would be a day of blessings for all the members of the Higgins family, that You would meet their needs in every area of their life Lord. That each of them would hear Your still quiet voice, gently whispering to them. We love and adore You Lord, and give You all glory, honor and praise. In Jesus precious name I pray... Amen and Amen
In His Love

Abba Father, we lift up Chad into your throne room of grace and we ask You Lord for total healing within his body. Lord for his family we ask that you would give them peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord comfort them in this time, strength Lord to endure what is ahead and surround them with people who will love and support them. In Jesus name I pray ... Amen and Amen
In His Love

Thank you, Lord, for holding Deanna tight yesterday as she went back to school! Thank you for bringing little ones who love her to minister to her in very special ways. Your works are awesome and your ways leave us speechless.
Father, be with Brent, Deanna, Lauren, and Whitney today. Give them sustinence, peace, and with each new morning, bring them joy. Thank you for the wonderful blessing that they are to Nathan and I. Thank you for their friendship and their love.
We love You and we ask these things in Your name. Amen.
We love you all LOADS.

Thank you again for sharing your precious memories. I would like to ask one thing of ya'll and of all the Bloggers. Please keep the Gulf Coast in your prayers this week. I know that everyone down here is just plain exhausted from dealing with these hurricanes and their aftermath. Wilma is one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded. This seems to be the Hurricane season for breaking records. Please pray that God will be glorified through this, and that if it's His will, could Hurricane Wilma just go away? Thank you from all your Brothers and Sisters on the Gulf Coast.
Love Ya!

Brent & Deanna, continuing to keep you before the throne. What an honor to be able to pray for you each day. Deanna, what sweet stories you had to share last night about your kids - isn't God awesome! He brought more hugs than you ever thought possible; and what a special blessing with the special needs child!
It was so good to share a meal with you last night and to hear you laugh a little. (even though it was at my husband's expense!) The fellowship of our group grows sweeter each time we meet. May we continue to grow deeper and stronger in commitment and service as well.
Whitney and Lauren - we miss seeing you!!! Know that you are ever in our thoughts and prayers and that we are sending "long-distance" hugs!!
To Him Whose Name is Faithful and True - carol
Continually praying for the Higgins Family and now also lifting Chad up to our Father. Please dear LORD help us all.
I am glad that Deanna was able to go back to work. I know she ia a blessing to the children. Your family is on our prayers always. Thank you for sharing more of BJ's loving kindness with us.
Tracy from KC - thank you for letting us know the prayer need for Chad. This one hits close to home as we lost our nephew one year ago this month in Iraq. Chad and his family are in my prayers.
I'm so thankful Deanna had a good day yesterday - children have their own precious way of giving us love and hope! What a beautiful bond it is between mother and son - I'm so touched by your story of BJ's love for his mother. And, it's obvious too how much he loved and looked up to his dad!
Lord, help us all to be thankful for the blessings of family and to never take one minute of our lives together for granted. Amen.
Praying for you all still - and for all my blog family as well.

Mom and Dad...
I am so blessed to know you and be able to say that you are my new mom and dad! I so enjoyed chatting with you the other night. I am so glad that you can be 'real' with me, as I can with you.
I've been sitting here on my day off from work, school, and more work, just thinking about Beej and how great our God is. Sunday night I went to a mission's conference where there were missionaries from all over the world. They had so many country flags up, pictures of people from those countries, and many boothes of those countries. In the service the speaker, who is a missionary from England, was talking about 7 words to take to heart.
1. vision- having a vision for the world
2. suffering- I count it a priveledge to suffer for Christ (its gonna happen)
3. mystery- I worship the God of mystery, theres no need to question anything
4. grace- press on, its a big alphabet..even if you fail, you can always move on towards the next letter
5. action- being not just hearers of the word, but doers
6. generousity
7. faith
And just be hearing these words and the context that they are taking on in regards to GOing into all the world, it just gives me great joy to take those on.
God had really pressed on my heart to take Beej's place, not just only next summer, but full time on the mission field. When I was 17, I surrendered to missions. What God wanted to do with that, remained to be seen at the time. Well, now God has layed such a passion on my heart that I am wanting to go now...but patience is something that God has been teaching, and not to become so antsy with wanting to go.
I love you guys, and I cant wait to give you hugs when you come!!
See you soon!
still praying...

Brent:
You bring me to tears yet again. It warms my heart to hear such beautiful words come from a man about his wife.
I have three little boys of my own and I cherish every moment I get with them. I pray to continue our relationship to be like that between Deanna and BJ. What a testimony.
From Ft. Wayne
mom, dad, and sisters,
I have not commented in a little while, as I have been busy. Senior year is over taking the freedom I once had. If I haven't shared with you, I will share with you now. My dad is a insurance ajuster and so last year was his first time to go out in to the state of Florida and help people get their lives back in order, or atleast their houses. He was gone 6 months and wasn't home for all the activities I was in from the first of September to th end of March. In, that time my papa died(his dad) two days before christmas. It was hard, but at the same time it was joyful. I had never seen my dad so emotional until then. There was nothing I could do.
Everytime my dad comes home for a short visit and then leaves I feel abandonment. I rest and find comfort in the Lord everytime, knowing that I will once be with my dad again. Maybe here on earth and in heaven.
Just as you say, "we've been a blessing to you". you've been a blessing to me. Your whole families faith through this. I hope God will one day allow me to meet with the parents of the boy who impacted my life sooooo much through this blog!
I love you Higgins Family!!!!

Praying for you all today. :)
I was doing good not crying. I read the blog about the dog. That night I went in and hugged my dog and smelled his smell and there were the tears all over again. Today's blog really spoke to my heart. So now I'm back to crying every day. But it's not just for Beej but how good our Lord is to us too. Still praying for you.
Love, Corinne
Hi Brent and Deanna....Glad your school day went well yesterday, Deanna. I'm sure the kids all have missed you lots. I know the fact that they need you helps alot. Am thinking of and praying for you guys often. I'm having a hard time this week....thinking about Beej. Praying God will continue to comfort you's and give you strength for each day..and night. Keep on writing your God inspired writings. LOVE YOU's LOTS, Lisa
May God continually show you His comfort through friends, neighbors, acquaintences, church family, relatives and just nature itself.
Soak it all in and absorb all the love that is being prayed for you and shown to you at this time.
Still praying for you.
Enjoy the special time with our family tonight as you dine together. Give our Andrew a special hug!

Deanna,
I too have a son and I know how hard it is to have lost him. You know we never ever know when God is going to take our children. I know u know that these children are not ours, they are his. He can take them at any time he wants too. I do know that he is your only son, and I know he will forever be missed. Boys are so much closer to there moms and so i know that if and when God takes my only son it will be devistating. I will pray for you that you will find peace and strength each and every day. God bless you, Deanna.

Brent and Deanna, How precious to read the love a son has for his mother. Bj loved his mom because of the love of his earthly father has for his wife. .Also, the love of christ that BJ had flowed out to his family. There is none greater than to have the love of your children. I am glad that Deanna had a good day and hope that you Brent has too. Whitney and Lauren, we are thinking of you too and are praying for the whole family. rc
Dearest Higgins family,
We are so proud of the courage you all share with us, day by day. Yes, Brent, I understand your anger; but God knows your anger, and understands it; He was angered at the temple, and knows our emotion. We must allow Him to convert our anger, back into positive energy! As I go through disappointing changes at work, the loss of my Aunt and neighbor (I'm still angry that she gave up on life, without asking for help), I know that I must carry on, and remember Colossians 3:23; regardless what I do, I do it for His glory. I may not like it, but if I try, God creeps in, and makes it a more pleasant effort! I cannot allow my sadness to cloud His vision, and allow me to miss the next blessing! Jan and I are honored to know you as the second chosen couple of God; the first being Joseph & Mary, and now you, as the parents of a young boy, who was constantly in His Father's house! Can't wait to see where BJ's work will lead us!! Good for you, Deanna, to get back to the love of your students! Eat it up! Find comfort in all those little ones who love you, the same way that BJ has! Love him, through them!! We're here for you; ready for ice cream, for a walk, for whatever you need!
With all our love and prayers,
Jan & Teresa
Brent & Deanna,
I been praying for you most of the day. The traveling allows for the stillness of Gods mighty voice. I talked with Brenda May today and she said next Wed. the kids at her school are wearing their prayforbj shirts. The kids still read the web site. It hard to know the full reach t his blog has. May God grant you rest tonight. Deanna i am so glad your first day went well.
Whit,
There are hard day that lay ahead please know John and I love you and care. If you need anything....
praying for you by name,
John & Jeannie
Mom,
Beej's love for you is very touching. Apparently he showed it as much at home as he did on the mission field. When ever he spoke of you it was with reverence, love, and a smile. He loved you A TON.
Love you lots,
Kayla
Great article....thanks for sharing!
that was a nice article about BJ. May God give you the strenght and wisdom to get through this.
We are praying for all of you in the path of H. Wilma!
Be safe! Be smart!
What an awesome article---thanks for sharing! Y'all are in my prayers. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us, your blog family. You have made an impact on my life. I look forward everyday to see what you have shared from your heart Thanks so much. Tracy from KC ---chad will be in my prayers. I'm the mom of an active duty USAF airman who has served in Baghdad---Chad will be in my prayers as well as his family. I too have a prayer request. I have a co-worker who had a very bad car accident last week. He is on a respirator. He has only 1 lung that is working and most of his ribs are broken. His head injuries are really severe. The whole family needs Jesus. He's in a coma but can hear they say. I pray that God will use someone to pray with him. I live in Ga. but he has been flown to Fl. Please be praying for him. Thanks Blog family. God bless you Higgins family --may God continue to bless you with his strength and peace.
I am so glad for all the support Deanna got at school. Your daily "devotionals" continue to be a huge blessing to us. Thank you for sharing all the great stories. The depth of your relationship with your children and with God are so evident. It's obvious that BJ really loved and cared for you. I wish so much that I could have known BJ better. I thought it was interesting that one day I was feeling angry about all this, and then you wrote that you had been angry that same day. It's so comforting to know that Jesus understands every emotion we feel. Feeling emotions like that keeps me always reminded and praying.
Sunday night we saw a video about Evan Roberts, a young man instrumental in a big revival in Wales many years ago. There were many things throughout the movie that reminded me of BJ.
Tonight Dennis spoke about priorities and talked some about BJ, using excerpts from BJ's journal writings to illustrate some of his points. I sense God is really moving in the hearts of His people. God is honoring your faithfulness and obedience and continuing to answer prayer. May He hold you close!
Love,
Beth

As I sit here with my son, my heart just wrenches. We visit the blog everyday to see how you are doing. He (My son, age 5) has been praying for BJ since he got sick and still thanks God for BJ in his prayers. He just asked me the hardest question for me to answer. It was easier for me to explain that BJ went to Heaven.
.... He was looking at BJ's pic and he said, Mommy, why did BJ have to get sick?
His Mommy couldn't answer him.
We have been praying for you all as you go back to work and school. I am so thankful that Mrs. Higgins had a good day. I pray that wach day gets better and the kiddos are well behaved for you.
Praying for y'all as you get ready to go to OKlahoma. I know y'all are going to inspire so many with your presence.

i just read the article and it is amazing. I have heard these stories and things about BJ over and over but they still seem to put me at awe and at peace in a way. I don't know why they put at peace but they just do. I am still praying for all of you and you walk in daily life.
Good night.
Dear Brent and Deanna,
Praise God that you (Deanna) had a good day back at work. I pray that God will continue to bless you with days like that one. Thank you Brent for sharing. I know this must be so tough for you both to be getting online and sharing like this. Please know that your fellow Body of Christ is lifting you up in prayer and God is using this site in a mighty and powerful way. I sometimes find myself at a loss for words when posting on this site. I am overcome with feelings and feel like I don't have the right words to comfort you. I just know that God is in control, and He loves you. He has BJ up there rejoicing with Him! That was a great article about BJ. I was teary eyed reading it. It is another way that through BJ's suffering, God is being glorified. Keep on persevering. Know that we all love you and are praying for you.
In the Love of Christ,
